Yea, I'd say that quote alone is a good insight into his character. Sturridge seems to be the opposite of lukaku, because he (my interpretation from interviews) just expects to walk into the first team.

The same could have been said for C.Ronaldo.

Yes he knew the job was short-term in 2009, but what's changed?.. unless you are under the illusion this job has suddenly become long term. As a football manager, his tactical superiority over Carlo won't evaporate just because he 'may' be here for the 2012/13 season as well. He will need to make an extra effort to integrate youth effectively. Other than that, I don't see how he would have to manage in a 'totally different way'.
