That defeat was needed to show our tactical weakness on the right wing. Ivanovic goes forward a lot leaving the right CB with more one on one situations but cahill is terrible at it. We all knew it but we needed a defeat to show it'll cost us matches just like Mourinho won't try ramires and fabregas pivot combo unless he's taking a gamble.

That was our worst decision in the past 11 years (yes it was worse than hiring Benitez) Fantastic manager provided free flowing football and won with it and we threw him away when we didn't have a bench. Just imagine Machecren and kakuta were our regular sub players. Where are they now?

Exactly, we played a proper 4-3-3 with zouma in the Makelele role. No need for pivot in the big games, we're too open whenever we play that. The 4-3-3 allows the left cm and right cm (fab and ramires) to protect hazard and Willian when they go forward. And with ramires energy to join in the attack and still come back to defend it's a perfect fit. I just hope we didn't play that formation just because Matic didn't play, we need to continue with it until cohesion in our counters is reached.

The first half was clearly about us getting used to the tactics while surviving tottenham pressing. After the break they didn't create jack even when they attacked more and we didn't park the bus till 6mins left. This was a complete contrast to how we've been playing when we go one up against all the big teams this season. I clearly noticed how fabregas covered for Hazard when he was left high up and ramires covered for Willian. It was because of the 3 in the middle with fabregas on the left side instead of a pivot with fabregas in the centre trying to press and failing. I know it was one match but I really saw a clear tactical difference imo, Willian was sending long passes through to hazard and fabregas was spreading to ivanovic. The only problem is we need to play with it more often so that we get used some counter-attacking pattern

All of a sudden he was spreading perfect passes to hazard during our counters. It was good to see

I'm I the only one who liked the way we played with a proper 4-3-3 with zouma in front of the defense and fabregas, ramires in front of zouma. This way hazard could spring a lot of our counters and have fabregas to cover the wing when he loses the ball. We didn't get used to it in the first half but we got better at it during the 2nd half. Hope we continue the proper 4-3-3 in big games. We're too open in the big games with 4-2-3-1 when fabregas plays behind the striker (Everton, Liverpool ccup, PSG) and it looks like it'll help our counters better

He didn't attack much and rightfully so because his defensive performance became massive. No space for tottenham to exploit like last time

He knows how to set up counterattacks, he never lost it. Just needs to do it in more matches so our players get used to it and make our counters more fluid with better understanding.

And I think he's a very good tackler. But has a tendency to go into every one and over do it though But I'm not still sure if he can intercept a ball or attack a player head on and win the tackle. Tottenham press like us last season. Anyone who can't pass or retain possession in the midfield will kill our gameplay.

I just remembered we are playing at wembly. The pitch is very wide and it will be in our favor because tottenham will tire more from their pressing. This is also their 4th match in 10 days, just like it happened to us on January 1st. We'll win if we score more than one goal.
