I know, but it's all politics! The good thing is Felipão is the real guy in charge and I trust him...

Wow, really? Impecable over the last 3 years? Where is the DM/CM partnership everybody knew we needed since God knows when? Oh yeah, one of them arrived six months ago and the other we are still looking for. Where is our balanced attacking trio? Not even Jose has figured it out and look at the gigantic expeculation there is for even more changes for next season in a position we've already spent hundreds of millions on. Where is the ST we have been needing since Anelka left and Torres proved to be a flop? Wait, we are talking exactly about him and only because we passed on a numbers of available (a better) strikers in the last couple of seasons. LB anyone? Please, dont act like I dont know a shit of what I am talking about and the demigods at the board do everything right. Not that I am an expert, but I do write based on what I see and I what I see is that our club makes as many hits and fails as any other big club! I think any person on this forum has the right to question what the club is doing. Isnt why we are here afterall? Imagine if all we had was robots aplauding everything the club/player/managers do. This place would be a nightmare! I am only here stating I do have some big doubts over Costa. Time will tell if I was right or not. The difference is I will have a big smile in my face if I end up being wrong and the pleasure of saying I was told you so if he flops. So either way I win!

Personally, no one available! I am not criticizing the club for going after him because I understand the situation we are in. He is basically the only good striker left in the whole market. It is the famous case of "I dont know what I want but I know what I dont want".
-
No, I am just saying because their goal scoring records were good it doesnt automatically mean they had a good season. If you read most of the posts in that Everton forum you will see plenty of complaints and I say PLENTY with capital letters! However, they want him to stay because he is their only option, basically the only good striker they can dream of signing. I am also not trying to downgrade Diego (no, not the other Diego, lol), I definitely think he is one of the top 10-15 strikers in the world. But I am honestly not sold. I trust he can score and wont miss many sitters (if any), though I feel he is not what we need as a team. Until the discussion is productive and both are posting valid arguments, I believe this respectfull civilised back and forth is exactly what this site needs. It used to have it all the time and it was incredible! It used to instigate debate and spread people football IQs throughout the various threads so everybody could always learn something or participate in a nice debate every so often... Nowadays I see way too many nit picking and name calling and way too little actual football discussion!

If he meets the least of the expectations I agree. Like I said, he is not my cup of tea (nor the type of player who would fit the team imo), but as long as he scores the goals we need I am happy!

Good way to try prove a point. Very rational. Your football knowledges are impressive!Anyways, I dont need to pretend to like him in order to have an unbiased opinion. I hate Diego Costa and it is not because of it that my judgement on his ability will change. People in these forums know me well enough. My love and hate situation with some players are very strong, but I have never allowed it to cloud my thoughts. I absolutely dispise Luis Suarez, but I have constantly praised him during those past seasons. I love David and Oscar, but it hasnt stopped me from heavily criticizing their 2014 performances. The same with Neymar whom I like and Messi whom I dont like. Etc.

This goal scoring record is the real myth. His goal scoring (which wasnt even that great to begin with) doesnt tell everything about his football. It is just one stat amongst many others!Lukaku has had a great goal scoring record for the past two seasons (playing in a way weaker team in a way tougher division), but that doesnt mean he had great seasons. There were many times he was simply unplayable and many Everton fans review his season as mediocre or alright at best.

OMG! I will go to sleep after this, cant stop laughing...

What does the first part has to do with anything? We are not discussing Torres nor Sheva here! As for your question, I bet I have watched more of Diego Costa than you. I basically watched almost all of Atletico matches because I love the way they play under Simenone. Diego is anything but unstoppable in 1v1 or 2v1 situations, I dont know where the hell you concluded that from. Also, he does shift and it almost ends up in nothing, only when he played with a striker (Falcao) he used to produce from outside the box. Diego Costa is a goal scorer type of guy, he wont participate in the game a lot but he will score when you need it. Which makes him better than most strikers on the planet, but I personally dont like the way he plays and I dont believe it is what Roman is looking for. He is a guy that would light the world on fire if he played for us during 2004-2008, but I am not sure he fits this team we have now!
-
I never said it was a bad deal, I just think there are still questions concerning Diego Costa and we should calm the hype down a little. To this date he only has one good season to his resume and he is anything but young! Also, I said someone like Suarez and not Suarez himself. I know that signing him is out of question, but what I was saying is that I believe the striker who would fit us is different than what Diego is...

Sorry, I hadnt seen it until now! I gotta say, people are making a situation out of absolutely nothing. Parreira is a clown who oftenly speaks nonsense. Sometimes people ask him about X and he starts complaining about Y or Z. It is quite hilarious the history he has regarding failures in interviews! Also, I second everything Barbara brilliantly wrote. He explicitely said "OSCAR WASNT COMPLAINING". All he did was tell the Brazilian staff he wished he had played more during this last month but he understands the reasons why he didnt (rotation, injury, etc). THAT'S ALL. Nothing major or allarming! About David Luiz, Parreira just showed how clueless he is about European football. He said Mourinho doesnt play Luiz because he doesnt like Brazilians and that if it was him he would pick one of Cahill or Terry to play along David because he is vastly superior than both of the English defenders. Now, those are his words and not something coming from Luiz or whatever. It is strictly his opinion. Which is clearly an absolute nonsense and I bet Scolari knows better (Big Phill still speaks highly of both JT and Lampard in every press conference someone mentions them). Oh, and bear in mind Parreira is the same person that back in 2012 did that position by position comparisson when we faced Corinthians in the CWC. If you dont remember, he said Cassio was better than Cech, Ralf+Paulinho is better than Mikel+Lampard, Emerson is better than Hazard (I know) and Guerreiro better than Torres. Also, he said once that if Neymar was given the same treatment as Messi he would outperform the Argentine and so on (then Neymar had to post an appology on Twitter or whatever). So we can say he only speaks bullshit when it comes to comparring Brazilians and Europeans!!!

People saying Costa wont flop because he has attitude and is different than Torres. Where did you all come to that conclusion? Yes, he is different than Torres and he shows desire and guts, but it doesnt mean he wont flop because of that. I see a good in form striker, not a great one. He is not very technical and he doesnt have many tools at his disposal, he does only the basic (he does it very well, but still). I can see some EPL teams being able to shut him down! In my opinion we needed someone more skilled who can also help in the build up and/or change position with our wingers from time to time. Similar to what Suarez does in Liverpool... Oh well, I hope I am wrong and that Diego Costa (gotta stop calling him Diego Cunt now) scores 30 goals next season to shut my mouth!
-
I still have plenty of doubts over this guy, but I swallow my pride and back him up if it's true he is coming to Chelsea. Also, 32mi pounds for a top striker in today's market isnt a bad deal!
-
The problem is Paulinho isnt the type of player Chelsea currently needs! We should sign someone who can control the tempo and dictate our transition from defence to attack with quality passes and Paulinho isnt that type of player. Paulinho is a typical box-to-box with a good goal scoring sense, but that is not what we should be looking for. We should be looking for someone in the the characteristics of a Modric, Xavi, Pirlo, Gundoghan, Schweinsteiger, etc. He is not the midfielder who is going to add in creativity, which is something we really need...
-
If you wish to, I can ask the staff to allow you to ignore me. There is no problem! Also, I dont need your congratulations. The expression on your face has definitely payed it!
-
I wont transform this into the Spike's mod thread, your entitled to your opinion and I honestly don't care if you agree with my nomination or not!
-
Thanks for nominating me guys, I wont disappoint! I would also like to congratulate Special Juan on making the job as well...

Juve not playing the so desired final in their stadium was the best thing that happened in Italian football this season!
-
What are you talking about Jason Bitch Misstress?
-
Can I have my name changed to Romper Stomper please?
-
I understan what he is/was trying to do and I still disagree with it. Thus, making Billy's complaint a very valid one...
-
Why? Just because he is our manager we have to agree with everything he says?
-
Why so many people want MVG to play? This is an useless game, let's not risk a high promissing young player who has just returned from a horrible injury against Cardiff! I would wait for van Ginkel to have a decent pre-season before putting him out there...
-
Many would agree it's not only atm though!
