Agree with Aroop and Esk above. What is lacking is the attitude as well. Wheres the passion ? We all know there are players that are looking ahead to MLS,punditry and retiring in the sun, and they need to move on. For what AVB might have in tactical nous he lacks in bollocking players and motivation. Say what you like about the land of savages (Scotland) but they have a knack of producing better managers than players when it comes to getting the best out of players. Dalgleish, Ferguson and McInnes who has turned round Bristol City, without changing any personnel. he did say to them though ''You've got f**king Bentleys and Maseratis in the car park, now play as if you've f**king earned them'' I am not saying AVB has to go, but pampered multimillionaires need special motivation

''Cruff'' ? Who the fuck is that ? We could do with this genius against City week after next
-
You're right. Chelsea v Leeds 1970 Cup Final -the Wembley pitch the week before was used for Horse of the Year show, and just left. It was like First World War trenches. It took a kind of player to adapt - the Osgoods, Webbs, Housemans, Clarkes, and Charltons might not be so deft if playing today, but they were used to those pitches week in week out. The balls were heavier. Messi might have been good, but no better than Charlie Cooke -(tongue slightly in cheek) Nottingham Forest CL winners under Clough -their half time 'team talk consisted of a few shots of Whisky. Comparing those with the Arsene Wenger macro-biotic dietary fed players of the 21st century is difficult

. You cant compare the 'greats ' of yesterday and today with parity. The game , ball, pitches, refereeing, physiotherapy, diets etc have changed the face of football so much

Wee Pat Nevin was way better than the Argie growth hormone cheat

Win was definitely on the cards.Amazing we got away with a clean sheet as the defence still all over the shop on ocassions. At 90 minutes , still some cunts started booooing -unbefuckinglievable Last game for a while -probably till after Christmas

RZA is that you LDN ? Youre right some games are pretty quiet but the Liverpool games are always vocal, and the TV microphones are selective in what they pick up .eg at one point ''Speak Fucking English'' was being sung by 3 sides of the ground at the dippers, but this wasnt picked up. Most of the ground was noisy till the 87th minute....

Diabolical decision hinders Chelsea's Champions League hopes
Fulham Broadway replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Chelsea Articles
Good read and I agree with most. Watching the replay of the last goal it was a bit weird seeing Cech seemingly withdraw his hand allowing the ball to go in. I hope ther isnt a subsequent betting scam going on ala Grobelaar. On guts and determination shown last night, a place in the Ropey league is all that we deserve -
Nail on head there. As I see it the strategy of Chesea FC is to have a hierarchy from Abramovich down of yes men, who agree on which player is the new Pele -regardless of what the professionals think. It was clear from JTs statements regarding the stadium that every employee of the club is paid on the understanding they must agree with what they are being told to agree with. We might have financial stability unlike Utd but at least the Glazer parasites leave rednose and footballing experts to indulge themselves in what they know. At SW6 we lurch from one knee jerk reaction to another whether it be youth strategy, managers, coaches, team policy, targets etc. Under this regime we will never be stable and able to continually build and evolve like Yernited or Arsenal. Criticising AVB, Torres, Lampard etc or arguing about whether Ancelloti should have been fired is re-arranging deckchairs on the Titanic. Until we have proper governance, real accountability from senior managers selected on ability and knowledge - ie not servile yes men such as Buck and Gourlay and a defined strategy to take the club forward we will always lurch around the way we have been recently. The playing staff need culling, there are some that are the new Kensington royalty, and as such seeing managers coming and going have no respect for them. Its like children constantly having step parents , of which they have less and less respect for....

Just found this -he recommended we buy david Dunn, Harry Kewell, and Geremi -(well we did get him) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/3037868.stm

hahaha blokes a fruitcake. Still better to come out with that rather than try to be one of those ''intelligent'' footballers

We get to this season and we have added a new manager and about £100m of talent from that which started last season. Where have we got? Well we have a manager that refuses to change his style and has publicly said so. We've got the same old players that let Carlo down still lumbering about and a young 'innovative' manager refusing to give youth the chance to shine. Ashley Cole, rubbish pushed forward but Bertrand not given a chance. A central defence that changes week on week. A forward line that also changes from week to week even though the young talent of Sturridge is the one that should remain in the team. I dont think AVB should be pushed out yet like all the rest, a £15m payout hardly fits in with their new 'long term' public ethos that they've been spouting about, however If senior management consistently fail to make correct appointments, then it’s only right they face the consequences themselves.

Know what you mean gg. Wins seemed a lot sweeter then, but things have moved on, and we definitely wouldnt have the array of silverware without the massive cash injection. I remember Glen Johnson the first signing and then like dominos it was fantasy football, the marketing of a global brand, then suddenly there were all these millions of fans I dont care what any cunt says, money wins you the league -Man Utd, Chelsea, Blackburn and now Citeh. Its a fact when football is a business
-
Like I said if some of the people calling for his head came to Stamford Bridge, they'd see what ''he brings to the table'' Yeah footballers do earn a lot of money...
-
True. I am sure he will, its just difficult when the media are acting like a bunch of hyenas. he'll probably score against Wolves -(though he could do with a rest- ) then every one will be spunking ''captain, leader legend'' again
-
More than likely it would have been an agent angling for the best contract. Seriously, if you ever come to Stamford Bridge to watch a game you'd see the commitment to fans and the club that isnt covered by TV
-
Cant believe you're saying that about a player who, without a doubt, has shown more commitment to the club than any in its history. If he was solely interested in money he could earn double that in the MLS ala Beckham. So yeah, sure.
-
If you look at that list of managers -only Mourinho sticks out as one who'd have the balls to say ''you're under performing'' and even he wouldnt shout and ball 'em out. -they need a bit of old fashioned discipline in my book, mixed with the pampering
-
Bollocks. Hes getting slaughtered by all and sundry just because hes being asked to play his game differently. Lesser men would knock on Abramovichs door and say '' I want out '' but hes not a quitter Honestly -what a bunch of fickle fuckers, It was Lampard getting the same last month wasnt it, now every one wants to suck him off...
-
True Krypt Top four position could be in jeopardy, even the ropey cup on recent showings..... We just need the right balance of new eager players who want to prove something, and wiley old professionals. Too many of the latter at present. (although people banging on about 'Josh' would have found him out of his depth, and pushed off the ball yesterday in all honesty) We also need a balance of carrott and stick -too much cash carrott at the moment - some good old fashioned bollocking would not be amiss, and unfortunately I cannott see AVB doing that. The bin dippers have the twin jock nightmare of Steve Clarke and Dalgleish on their case if they under perform.
