  1. Think they plan to isolate players from the public, then play behind closed doors. Seems the biggest logistical headache they face is stopping fans travelling to those cities where they are playing.
  2. Clubs have been told to prepare for a mid-June comeback, which will see players increase their training load from May. (Reuters)
  3. The good news is Austria are considering relaxing restrictions in a a couple of weeks, small shops reopening, and Germany doing the same in 3-4 weeks
  4. Yeah could be longer -though think they are supposed to be doing a 'review' in a couple of weeks. Think @Vesper highlighted the alternative, a conservative estimate of 1.16 million deaths
  5. Plenty of news items attacking footballers. It’s obviously a complex situation but always easy to bash footballers (mostly working class and/or foreigners, prime targets for the billionaire tax avoiding media owners ), whilst the billionaire owners are let off. Not surprising the govt. jumped at the chance to play the deflection/blame game the other day. What about all the much wealthier people in the country, and/or those profiting from the current situation, such as Jacob Rees Mogg ? If anything, I’ve seen lots of reports of footballers contributing individually out of their own pockets.
  6. You say governments should 'put their own first', yet condemn Germany for keeping their own equipment. Banning exports of your own equipment is different from hijacking a shipment already bought and paid for in transit by another nation. You also say 'none of us should stoop so low', then you do exactly what you are criticising.
  7. Worse than that, like I said so many clubs will go to the wall. Don't think anyone wants that scenario
  8. We all love football and it also fulfils a vital social function, but this virus puts things in perspective.
  9. Sounds like a plan - its probably difficult to get all the TV companies contracts rewritten, lawyers, other sporting events clashing with TV schedules on side etc but it could be done.
  10. Well Johnsons 'virus expert' obviously thinks its a price worth paying. The irony being most of the deaths would be in the demographic that voted for him and Brexit.
  11. He's making more noises (if you believe the press) about moving on now. Don't blame him. We'd all want a 3 year deal in what is a short career I've never knocked him and it only seems to be on the internet he gets slagged. Obviously we will be fucked off if he goes to Sp*rs, but then more fool them if they pay him up until he's 35. The other thing is, there are players out there with his ability that score more.
  12. haha sorry just read my initial post and agree it is hard to gather what I am on about. Still a bit hung over. I think the PL will see sense, (and because of the TV revenue which pays their executives exorbitant dividends) and they will finish it behind closed doors.
  13. Agree Tomo - it has to be done and dusted - that TV revenue and players 30% wage pool needs to filter down, and quickly -otherwise a conservative estimate suggests 40-50 clubs going bankrupt in the lower divisions.
  14. Johnsons 'virus' expert Prof Medley has now said we need to try the 'herd' experiment to save the economy. Fine, lets start with Mr Medleys family first, then move on to Johnsons, MPs and the House of Lords, see how they get on with 'herd' immunity.
  15. Actually it dipped after the election. But yes, it has surprisingly gone up now Johnson will always have the satisfaction of knowing that, all it took was the near complete collapse of human civilisation to do it.
  16. Am not a 'Lefty' for one. Two the masks were ordered and paid for by Germany. The US will suffer because of Trumps and the 'rights' idiocy. Sorry but you 'righties' are becoming more desperate, no wonder people are seeing through the bullshit that is costing more and more lives.
  17. Trump steals 200 000 masks bound for Germany. Classy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-52161995
  18. They just have to finish the season now. The non leagues are done and some European leagues are following. The PL will have to pay back 750 million on TV rights if not, so thats the incentive to finish the season in some format. Give the mickey mousers the title and it will forever have an asterix next to it.. Then we will sing "You never won the league.. You never wont the League. Etc etc
  19. Also people viewing each other with vague suspicion when out, and several police forces here have set up websites where citizens can snitch on others. During WW2 occupied cities and towns only had a handful of Gestapo, but were successful at suppressing dissent relying on informants -its how totalitarian states work
  20. Strange times. We've surrendered our liberty and freedom to the State. Parliament has disappeared. All private enterprise has been Nationalised. Movement controlled. All our freedom just given up without a fight. It reminds me of.....China. Also here in the UK theres this weekly virtue signalling -everyone comes out and claps the state NHS at 8 00pm on Thursdays. Funnily enough in Maos Red Book a weekly collective applause of the state is encouraged....
  21. Theres a bigger issue, one within capitalism that is if it aint 'profitable' forget it. Take PPE masks, gloves, and testing equipment. Because most goods are ordered and delivered using Just in Time they aren't there, and a pandemic isn't profitable. Classic highlight of capitalisms major fault line, profit before people. On a positive note dildo sales have increased by 78%....
  22. US and UK Economists project UK unemployment could rapidly rise to more than 6 million people shortly, around 21% of the entire workforce, and unemployment across the Atlantic could reach 52.8 million, around 32% of the workforce. More than the Great Depression of the 1930s
  23. We used to drink it in the 70s
  24. Exactly. Project Shambles continues.
  25. Yup been known for a long time yet the FA fail to act. Gooners particularly dislike him...
