Dermot Drummy: Former football boss took own life
Fulham Broadway replied to xPetrCechx's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Another high profile Chelsea fan dies at 60 -he was really gutted about his mate Wilkins a few hours before http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/darts/43663426 -
Nigel.Quashie on Wilkins I will always be proud to say how lucky I am to have been coached, managed and even meet you. If it wasn’t for you I would never have started my career playing football and will never forget going to Manchester United as a YTS trainee to do all the kit and boots in the changing room for the first team squad. 1hr 30 mins before kick off you name the team and I was in it and that’s how my debut went, I didn’t even get to think about it because all you said was your number 18, here are your boots and shin pads , just go and play, have fun and treat it like your over the park with your mates . My mum never had a mobile phone back then because we couldn’t afford anything like that and everything went through her work or home phone. I asked you after the game if I could call home to speak to her, you said use my mobile and call this number, it was my mum on the other end of the line and she said she was outside by the away team bus, I went outside to see her and asked how did you get here because I knew she couldn’t afford it, she told me Ray had got the club to pay for her train ticket to come to the game and then told me Ray got the club to give us our first mobile phone in life during the week and he wanted to surprise me knowing I was making my debut. I was given a chance by Ray Wilkins one of the legends of the game and to this day you are the first person I mention when it comes to football and that will never change. You will be missed so much not just in the football world but as a real human being with such class. Thanks for everything and my thoughts go to all the family. Sleep well Sir Ray Wilkins

Did you here what Pep said ? 'I know that this (the coach attack) is not Liverpool, the history of the club is much bigger than this four or five or 10 guys.' Yeah 4 or 5 guys was it that killed 39 Italians

The fans with 'dignity and respect'
-
It was weird at first. Here we were, absolutely proper shit- and then we had the National team captain at 18. I knew fans of other teams that fucking hated us, pitied us for falling from 1970s glam boys into a debt ridden joke. These fans like most back then, properly supported England. Suddenly they had to respect us, Ray was brilliant playing for England, and as Chelsea fans it was a real boost.

''We'll win something this year''
-
Well you'd probably get a rose tinted view of it -tbh it's loads better now, the pitches, quality of football etc but the sheer fuckoffness of going to games then was better !
-
Yes -known as 'the reserve'. When men were men . Sometimes it wasn't unusual to see a game where one or both teams would end up with 9 or 10. But they also used crude steroid injections on in play injuries so they could carry on. Quite a few ended up crippled later in life. Yeah Ray was exceptional. Played pinpoint accurate across the field passes, quite Fabregasesque, but with a better work rate.

Interview with 18 year old Ray

Exactly and I am a bit angry with the club - sacked for allegedly saying to Roman and Gourlay ''Well if you ever played the game you'd know differently''. Booted out the next day. His heavy drinking started soon after. Anyway I was privileged to see him play loads of games -as were you Iggy ? Fuck me if you think we are a one man team with Hazrd, you should have seen us when we were with Wilkins. Midfield maestro. Never forgotten.
-
Yeah cause that well known EU country Israel don't have teams in it do they ? Jesus -Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey.....are they in the EU ?
-
This could quite easily go tits up
-
Good luck with that. Sibneft crew stick together.
-
They still hadn't beaten us at home since 1990 with Lineker though which is impressive. And they are still shitcunts, so that also hasn't changed.

He's confided in Vialli that the transfers aren't his choices and he's off at the end of the season. He's keeping schtum, just as Jose and others did because otherwise they lose a few million pounds. The disconnect between manager and owner/board we've seen so many times, and this short termism has brought copious amounts of silverware, that can not be denied. However it could be better, by investing in a long term plan that Citeh, Liverpool, and Sp*rs seem to be doing. It's just embarrassing that this is carried out every other season, and the fans turn on the manager. His body language is totally different this season, and it infects the players. This could be remedied by a long term plan by the board, and would avoid petulant 'just going through the motions' like bringing on substitutes in the 80th minute. Conte, to my mind though, is not above criticism beyond the disconnect with the board. eg the Costa debacle, and not remedying the Luiz saga.
-
Well it would be fucking beyond idiotic to sell him to a rival - but not beyond the wisdom of the board as we know. If he wants to go, fuck it let him go to Madrid, take the cash and give Hudson a chance
-
Probably needs to have a bit more of that Christiano selfish arsehole streak to be a true great
-
Deli Alli - for one who's won fuck all, quite a gobby shitcunt.
-
Hope he recovers. Our great young captain.
-
We need to focus on now, the next few games are vital. I hope the managerial position is not being discussed at the club, just on forums. And then only because of the clubs' hire and fire policy.
-
Exactly, good manager, but if he was at Southampton, they'd be in the same position...it's all about the shopping money from Sheik Mansour
-
Five as Dave can play there as well Knowing how JM sucks the joy out of some players, he'll be a good buy for someone.
-
Yeah keep an eye out if theres any more we could get you on the scouting pay roll
