It is always easy to bash a goalie on a poor run. Remember we were relentless on Kepa a few years back as well. He was absolutely hopeless. We should not forget how good Mendy was for us in the cl run 21 either. Not only his saves but also his calmness which gave us back a sense of security after the shaky Willy Kepa Rochade. Like I said before, neither are the solution for us long term but they are not useless either. On form both are alright keepers with their own strengths and weaknesses which opponents have by now learned to exploit. This is probably what separates them from top keepers who even on bad form still are somewhat tolerable. But if anything Kepas story should have told us to not discard one of our own completely without a chance at redemption.

I have been a Chelsea fan for almost 20 years and never seen us this poor. Not under Sarri, nor lamps nor that dreadful mate 2010 under Carlo. The team is in complete disarray, no leadership or direction. I have no idea what Potter is going for or where it went wrong after those decent Milan other than losing RJ but that Brighton game completely knocked us out. Yeah poor signings and overall not a vintage squad, somewhat inexperienced manager at this level but we won trophies with similar groups and now we are ona. Losing streak vs mediocre teams. Results can go against you but our performances have been atrocious as well. I don’t buy improvements vs city and shit like this we looked better bc they let us. I don’t think there is just one reason, crying potter out or sack all the players won’t help. I just hope we figure out how to play football without our best player at some point . Anyway I am done with football for the year

Tbf is jwp anything special apart from set pieces? There are plenty of decent fk takers on the England team and most of those suit englands rigid defensive style of play better but Southgate sure has his favs. Just as an old stubborn coach like Rehhagel or Mourinho would but without the trophies to back it up. Philips, Sterling, Pickford, trippier all not the best in their positions but will play prominent roles. anyway won’t matter much. If England have one thing then it is mediocrity in depth. Surely that will be enough for the semifinal if they again manage to poach the easy half of the draw.

I think players like Haaland would rip it up anywhere but when we sign players purely on potential like Havertz, Pulisic who show signs here and there but are still inconsistent they get lost here same as those with nice highlight reels in tinpot leagues like k2 and Ziyech or system reliant players like Sterling or Werner the only players who work regularly for us are those who have obvious world class ability , maturity and consistency beyond their years such as Kante, RJ or those who identify with the club and make up for lack of talent with mentality and passion like Azpi, Mount we desperately have to make sure we only buy players from the latter categories

Only if potter evolves tho. He has nice ideas and comes across as a genuine personable guy but the common theme in all his teams has been wasting chances which is our biggest weakness. So getting him was quite bittersweet to me from the very beginning. Klopp and pep came with a clear record of transforming big clubs and winning big trophies . Arteta and Streich are yet to do so . Time will tell but we have to be prepared to win fk all for 2-3 years now.
