You can be flexible and mobile even when you are big. Handball GK Andreas Wolff is 1,98m 110kg pure muscle and gets both legs behind his head and can do deficits center splits etc. Yes muscles tend to shorten from repetitive restricted ROM movements (e.g. running or conventional weight training) but you can reverse this by adding stretches or even better, train weighted mobility drills through a full range of motion. RJ as by this Video indeed has below average hamstring, ankle, hip and shoulder mobility . Those exercises are fairly easy. Every healthy athlete should be able to do them without a problem. I would start prescribing him a full ROM weighted Calisthenics programm with exercises such as kettlebell Cossack squats, Nordic curls, deep knee bends, ATG squats, deficit push ups etc before telling someone to reduce muscle mass which can itself result in injuries.
