Yes. And he got it for what? Complaining? Ref has been trying to deflate us at every opportunity
-
Nkunku did well there readjusting and turning super quickly Shame it didn’t work out for him here but the ability is there
-
Thats why
-
We will go out on pens 100% One of the most lopsided matches ever but the ref bails out our opponents in the most ridiculous way imaginable. Giving them a breather and a gift of a pen. No wonder no one wants to see this Joel of a tournament
-
That was the moment palmer should have settled it he really is not up to it goalscoring wise anymore
-
Slovenian but yes he is even worse
-
Malo Gusto has become such an absolute choker. Can’t control a ball, can’t jump properly. What has happened to him
-
Those crosses have been horrific all night you can bet on us catching a counter attack at the death
-
That should have been their 2nd straight red. 2 open studs tackles from those cheaters
-
Now they down to 10 and needless yellow for cold
-
Psychologically almost impossible to come back from this now. Likely exit on pens or sth stupid like that
-
Exactly. Red knew benfica was on their last legs and our 2nd was a matter of time. Then giving them a breather and a gift of a pen
-
Classic. Now extra time with half the first team already out
-
The ref is picking up where he left off with completely random biased calls every 2 seconds
-
Lavia off for Trev. Hopefully no injury from that horrific belotti lunge . Only Caicedo as proper dm left. No extra time pls
-
Has to be one of the worst places ever to hold a summer tournament outdoors. Ancient dilapidated stadiums without roofs or AC, scorching heat and cancelling games because of a bunch of clouds on the horizon. then ofc fifa has as always completely botched the admin stuff, selected the worst refs, kick off times, scared off the fans with their extortionate pricing
-
Those half time interviews of players are cruel. Cucu can hardly breathe and has to answer the most stupid questions
-
Should be 2-0 and a man up. Wasteful finishing as always but also a superhuman trubin and a ref performance that would put Antony Taylor to shame
-
That looked almost like a snapped knee ligament there for caicedo. Lucky to come away walking
-
Trubin is a Monster again today
-
The refs at this tournament are disgustingly bad and biased. The same foul Jackson committed was now repeated by benficas defender on CuCu- waved away by the ref
-
Good thing their keeper decided now is a good time to do the the mannequin challenge on both goals buzzing for Delap to get that all important first goal for the club

BVB demanding 65m for gittens is a joke. Probably like 15% PL tax and 20% stupid ‚soccer‘ investor tax. They want him gone and everyone know it. Gittens has hardly featured under Kovac cos his position does not exist in his system and does not fit BVBs way of attacking play. To me gittens looks a lot like a somewhat technically cleaner madueke with even less awareness and link up ability but having hit a purple patch. The sancho comparison is a bit lazy, they are very different players. Gittens has a lot of pace and power obviously. However, if you look at his highlight reel, it is all sprints, dribbles, shots. He seldom looks up to spot a better placed teammate. Pure one route footballer. Everything he contributes comes from solo actions leading up to a finish or attempted assist. his link up play and vision is quite underdeveloped. He has almost zero value in slow short-pass build up play. Against a deep bus he might be able to skip past a defender occasionally and get a shot off but don’t expect him to provide perfect crosses or defence splitting passes. The upside is, he is super direct, great on the counter, won’t frustrate ppl to death by avoiding risks and delaying to pull the trigger like so many of our players.

Delap already showing his qualities. Him and palmer will be a dreamteam like Lamps+Drogs

Sadly that’s true. We have not won any domestic title since 2018 (lost I think 7 domestic finals in a row). But we also did not have any elite coach in that time apart from Tuchel. I believe an experienced manager would be able to get a bit more out of this squad which clearly is talented but lacks guidance even now but that is apparently not on the cards either. The Nkunku signing and the maignan pursuit have shown that the owners are willing to at least look at players over 25 if they think it is still good value. But clearly their bias for youth is void of any footballing knowledge behind it and purely an economic consideration. All we can do is hope that by chance they sign some 24 yo who indeed is exceptionally mature for his age and able to provide leadership. what I find just as odd is that we have a manager who prefers slow possession based football, whereas almost all our past and prospective attacking signings are athletic speed demons who are best suited to a counter attacking style which we witnessed to have great effect during the first few months of last season.
