  1. explanation for playing Bertrand on the wing??? dont get me wrong, i like Ryan, and hes a superb replacement for Ashley AND i think playing him on the wing is a great idea against teams that have a strong right side as Bertrand will supply the extra defense. BUT against the weaker teams... why? Oscar should have started instead. I guess maybe he was just giving a rest to Oscar because of the olympics, and Marin is injured... solved my own query. brilliant.
  2. Torres would be livid. but to be fair, he'll be livid if we sign Cavani, because he knows cavani would start instead of Torres. whereas hulk can play on a wing.
  3. the only complaint about torres is the lack of supply to him. same as last season, for some reason we dont get the ball to him. i can't remember a time in the first half when he touched the ball. I can only recall his shot being cleared off the line, him being fouled on the edge of the box and him coming to recieve a throw in. It's not his fault, he just doesnt get any supply... on the topic of fouling... Hazard. he got fouled loads. and a lot of these fouls prevented decent attacks where it would have resulted on a chance on goal. we see a lot of this on small nifty players such has Hazard, Silva, Mata, Messi etc and players only seem to get booked after their 3rd trip so they jsut keep doing it which ruins the game... i think it may be time to take a leaf out of the other leagues rule books and become stricter because it ruins the flow of the game and prevents chances; which is the entertaining part of football! Those moaning about Cech, its goalkeeping tactics 101. it draws the opposition players forward to bring on pressure (if done properly, play it at the back, drag 3 - 4 players up, pass to the keeper who launches it which immiedietly takes out 4 players from the game, and if we were to gain posession we would have 4 less players to get the ball pass). but ya, the kicking wasnt as accurate as it might have been. the start of the game was brilliant and i thoguth we would have another 8-0 on our hands, but the tempo slowed and we get back to that defensive state. Oscar came on and showed a lot of energy (hopefully this wasnt just the hype of his debut and wanting to make an impression) and if he can keep that up hes going to be a great game changer. the only worry his when closing down players, not to leave other players open, he often left the player he was marking to close down other people which could be a problem further down the field. Moses annoyed me. i dont want him at Chelsea. he certainly has potential, but i dont think he will ever become better or as good as any of the wingers we have at the moment. would just be a waste of money. I'd say the main focus should be on supplying Torres. i must say, Torres' movement wasn't as good has it normally was, and i think Hazard and Oscar have a great eye for a pass, so hopefully, with time and traning these guys connect like Mata and Torres began to at the end of last season. comfortable, good clean sheet and had Hazard and Ivanovic are in my fantasy team. good start! CFC!
  4. im a huge fan of Romelu, and after seeing hte highlights of hte west brom game; it was great to see that Romelu was involved in nearly all of the chances. should have had 2 or 3 assists to his name and another goal! really hope he becomes the first choice striker at west brom, has a great season then comes back to the bridge as that £18million striker we bought then dominates for us! ROMELU! on a side note, im so glad that Liverpool failed, i hope they get relegated.
  5. although i think the 3 at the back is good in terms of the players at our disposal (at the moment) it would not suit John Terry at all. i can't see him being able to adapt to that. Also, Luiz would noth ave as much freedom as he has. signing another RB would eliminate playing 3 at the back. another formation that could work, that I have't seen is a 4-3-2-1 2 AMC (Mata/hazard) behind torres. with 3 deeper midfielders (one DMC, 2 attacking/support wider players) http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=977 with this formation as well, with a simple sub such as brining Sturridge or Marin on can turn this to a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1
  6. hopefully he gets game time. i wont put him in my fantasy team just yet, ill wait a few weeks and see how it goes. also, a lot of people moan about Josh's loan being a waste, but dont forget he had to train with that swansea team, a team that Rodgers mainly focused on passing with. and West Brom play a very straight forward attacking game so hopefully Lukaku will learn a lot. he will probably learn more at West Brom just by training than he would from training with Chelsea, we really seem to lack on being able to supply the striker at recent time so hopefuly we can sort that this season for the sake of all our strikers, no point in game time if you arent getting the ball! it's a good loan. also indicates that we will be purchasing another striker as all we have at the moment is sturridge and torres.... and if its moses, thats great news for torres (and hopefully he steps up to the challenge with no threat of drogba pushing for his place). can't wait for the new season. now i can watch some West brom games just to watch Lukaku. would love to see the likes of Piazon go on loan to west brom as well, i would love to watch those 2 week in week out.
  7. i'd like to see 4-4-2 tested out. bring on lukaku for one of hte CM's and see what happens.
  8. Meireles is now a back up player. should only be used if everyone else is injured. the main thing we can take from this, is that during the season we are going to really struggle against the lower league teams. we struggle to open up defenses (and this shouldnt be much of a problem when playing the bigger teams that dont play so defensive). all pre season, teams have played defensive and we have not managed to open them up, so i think we will have to rely on the counter when playing defensive teams. every player looks like they are only giving 75%. hopefully thats just because its pre-season and maybe the training sessions has taken it out of them a bit.
  9. i notcied that our attackers never seem to find the gaps in the defence. milan had a fair bit of space when they attacked and got shots off. i dont know whether its down to the style of play from the defensive team or the lack of movement from the attackers
  10. i think this is ok. think of hte team if mata was in for meireles and torres was in for lukaku. lukaku is having a shocker to be honest. he needs to go on loan, but if he goes on loan, we need another striker (and we need to be guarenteed that lukaku will be played a lot). if we dont buy another striker, then hes got to stay. the passing is pretty bad as well. but we all no not to judge a team by pre season performances! looks like ashley and hazard are comfortable with each other on the wing though which is good.
  11. I think Cavani is a great player, and i also think he would do well at CFC, and as much as i want him at chelsea i think the majority of posts in here a right, we don't really need him. look at the upset amongst our strikers last season. Torres wanted more games, sturridge got games with AVB, then RDM reduced his game time. Lukaku was livid at such little game time. we need sturridge and lukaku, they are our future. if we were to buy Cavani (or Hulk) someone would have to be sold or at least loaned, OR we would need a new system where we would have 2 strikers on the field, because with 2 strong solid strikers rotating (assuming we play 1 striker), lukaku and sturridge will not get a sniff of football this season unless someone got injured. Sturridge could see game time as a winger, but with our new signings, thats moved him down the pecking order again at that position. Lukaku is just going to get frustrated and want to leave if he doesnt get any game time, so maybe a loan would be good for him. I personally feel we can go a season with our main stirker Torres and the support of Sturridge and Lukaku. If its gone tits up by January, ill let RDM know i was wrong and he should probably sign another key striker. I thnk our main focus should be getting a decent right back, and then just leaving it there. maybe a couple more youngsters, because as any FM player knows, youngsters are the key to long term success.
