  2. Harry Redknapp is plotting to team up with Joe Cole again. Redknapp nurtured the Chelsea and England midfielder as he rose through the ranks at West Ham. Now he wants to pair up again by luring Cole to Tottenham. Redknapp is desperate for a left-sided midfielder and will use guaranteed first-team football in a World Cup season as his bait to land the 27-year-old. People Sport understands Cole, who has one year left to run on his £80,000-aweek contract, is happy at Chelsea and that the Blues do not want him to leave. But a guaranteed starting berth will give him food for thought. Redknapp has turned his attentions to Cole after failing to land Stewart Downing in January. Spurs and the player were keen on the move but Middlesbrough held firm, causing Redknapp to switch his sights to his old mate. The Tottenham boss also wants to sign Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry, but a switch to Arsenal or Manchester City remains more likely. But if Redknapp were to land Barry, it would almost certainly spell the end at White Hart Lane for Jermaine Jenas
  3. Guus Hiddink has accepted an offer to become a technical adviser with Chelsea after stepping down as manager. The Dutchman took the reins at Stamford Bridge in February following the dismissal of Luiz Felipe Scolari. He helped the Blues finish third in the Premier League and advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they came within moments of knocking out eventual winners Barcelona. A number of Chelsea players pleaded with Hiddink to remain in charge beyond the end of the season but he always maintained that he would be resuming his role as full-time Russia boss. Hiddink will now do just that after signing off as Chelsea manager on Saturday with victory over Everton in the FA Cup final. It was an emotional farewell for the 61-year-old but he has now indicated that he will continue to work with the club in a new capacity. "I will be in continuous contact with the club. Chelsea have asked me to become technical adviser," he said in the Sunday Mirror. "You don't think I was going to turn that offer down, do you?"

  6. Reports have suggested Chelsea managerial target Ancelotti is keen on bringing Beckham to Stamford Bridge if he does take over from Guus Hiddink this summer with the England star impressing the Italian during his loan stint at AC Milan. Ancelotti has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea once the Serie A season finishes, but Beckham, who is due to return to LA Galaxy next week, admits it is unlikely he would follow Ancelotti to West London if the Italian does end up going to England. Asked about the possibility of moving to Chelsea if Ancelotti makes the move to England, Beckham told the Los Angeles Times: "I don't think that's a possibility, to be quite honest. "At the end of the day, I'm still contracted to the Galaxy. "I'll be coming back July 11 to start training and then to finish the MLS season. But it's always nice to be wanted, and Carlo has been amazing to me since I've come to Milan, to play me in as many games as he has. I'm very thankful to him for that." Beckham is hopeful of returning to Milan next season with the Italian giants keen on bringing him back following his successful loan spell this term. The 34-year-old admits nothing has been agreed with Milan, but he is happy that the Italian giants remain keen on signing him. "Nothing has been signed yet [for next season], and nothing's concrete. But obviously Milan have already showed their interest in me coming back, so that's a good sign."
  7. Yoann Gourcuff has signed a four-year contract with Bordeaux. The France international has been in superb form the French Ligue 1 leaders this season, after moving from AC Milan on a year-long loan deal in the summer. Laurent Blanc made it clear he wanted to keep the midfielder on a permanent basis, and they had until May 31 to finalise a deal with the Italian giants. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were all monitoring the situation with the player dubbed as the new Zinedine Zidane, but it has now been confirmed that Gourcuff will stay at Bordeaux. It is being reported that the 22-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the club, who are expected to pay a fee in the region of £12million for the transfer.
  8. Bayern Munich have denied receiving a £40million-plus bid from Chelsea for Franck Ribery. The French midfielder is being tracked by almost all of Europe's elite, and in recent weeks Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all reported to have made contact with Bayern. Now reports in England have suggested that Chelsea have leapt to the front of the queue for his signature after lodging a bid of over £40million. Bayern have stated that they want to keep Ribery, although that has not stopped the speculation about his future. In response to the reports of Chelsea's bid, Bayern have stressed that they are without substance. "This story is completely untrue," Bayern media officer Markus Horwick told Deutsche Presseagentur: "Franck Ribery remains not for sale."
  9. eports in Italy claim that Inter Milan have sealed a deal with FC Twente for striker Marco Arnautovic. The 20-year-old, dubbed ‘the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic’ has been in sterling form for Steve McLaren’s side helping them into second place in Holland’s Eredivisie. With Chelsea rumoured to have been keen on signing the Austrian youngster it appears Jose Mourinho has stolen a march on his former club by sealing Arnautovic for £9m on a five year deal.

  12. The Chelsea midfielder Deco has had an awful season at Stamford Bridge with injuries and lack of form, and cannot wait to move on this summer. It looks like he will get his wish, as the Blues are happy for him to find another club, and he has been in contact with his old boss from Porto, Jose Morinho, who is now managing Inter Milan. Deco said: ‘I won’t deny that there is contact, but nothing is defined. It’s a solution which I welcome, of course, and it would be a pleasure to be back with Mourinho, but I don’t want to go into details, because it’s not me who’s dealing with the matter.’ Morinho has also hinted at the deal, but he could also have been referring to the Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho when he said: ‘If I sign any Portuguese, it may be a Portuguese who isn’t in Portugal. But I won’t name names.’
  13. Rising Austrian football star Marko Arnautovic's proposed move to English Premiership giants Chelsea was in doubt on Tuesday because of a foot injury according to press reports. The 20-year-old international - scorer of 14 goals for Twente this season - underwent a medical in Vienna on Tuesday and according to the reports failed to satisfy the Chelsea doctor overseeing it. The medical revealed that four-times capped Arnautovic has such a serious foot injury it could see him sidelined for between four to six months. On Monday Dutch press reports had announced that according to sources close to the player he had agreed to sign a contract with Chelsea beating off competition from Italian champions Inter Milan. However Twente - coached by former England manager Steve McClaren - have yet to reach agreement with Chelsea, with the English club proposing a 12million euros fee while Twente are looking for 15million euros according to Algemeen Dagblad.
  14. With another long 38-game affair over, Arsenal Spot accumulated the all-time points of all the 42 different teams who been involved in the Premier League since its foundation in 1992. The statistic look revealed shame for the now relegated Newcastle who are still considered one of England's top-flight elite - sitting at 6th on the all-time table. What's also interesting is how London rivals Chelsea are creeping in on Arsenal who are still very much the closest competitors of the dominant Manchester United. Following five seasons of finishing behind the blues, the Stamford Bridge men are beginning to justify where the 'pride of London' should be. And in evidence of this all-time table, Arsenal desperately have to contemplate a title push next season. * Teams in bold are the participants for the 2009/10 season. Pos. 15. Daniel Sturridge could be set to leave Manchester City after contract talks ground to a halt. The 19-year-old striker is out of contract this summer and has been in negotiations with City bosses over a new deal. The Academy product is believed to be pushing for a £40,000-a-week package after scoring six goals from 32 senior appearances, which have included 12 starts. But manager Mark Hughes confirmed on Sunday that the club's latest offer has been turned down and there are no plans to re-open talks. Good offer "We have made an offer which is a good offer for Daniel at this stage of his career and that was refused a couple of weeks back," he said in the Manchester Evening News. "Where we are at the moment needs a shift in position from his advisors." Sturridge would be available on a free transfer and Chelsea and Aston Villa are believed to be monitoring the situation, although either would have to pay City compensation for the youngster. City are now expected to turn their attention to bringing in two high-profile strikers over the summer. The likes of Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o, Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor, Chelsea's Didier Drogba and Portsmouth's Peter Crouch have all been linked with the Blues, while Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz has been a long-term target. "I am going to have a couple of days off now but the phone will be on and I will be busy all the way through the summer," Hughes added.
