1. 11:00 AM 24 April, 2009 Zenit St Petersburg could be about to move for Chelsea Football Club’s Michael Ballack. Although the Blues have extended the Germany international’s stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, Zenit have placed him at the top of their wanted list. The Russian giants are set to offer Ballack a hugely-lucrative package to make the move, and German legend Lothar Matthaus believes a transfer could be on the cards. "At Chelsea Ballack is just present rather than right in the thick of things,” he told Sport Bild. “He is a nominal player at the big London club - that is not an insult. "The squad is packed with top stars. To establish yourself as a leading player there is hard. Ballack has not managed it. He is always in the first team. The question is only: for how much longer?"
 2.
ASHLEY COLE has hinted he is ready to end his career with Chelsea.
The England left-back, who joined the Blues from Arsenal in 2006, has two years left on his current contract. But Cole admits he would be happy to sign a new long-term deal at the Bridge. The 28-year-old said: "I'm at Chelsea and it's a new chapter in my life. "Hopefully, I can win a few more trophies here and that will make it even better. "Since I've been at Chelsea I've had a great time and won a lot of trophies. "But I want to win a lot more in the future with the club."

 5. Italian newspapers claim Inter are ready to leave Ricardo Quaresma on loan at Chelsea in exchange for Deco. Both Portuguese internationals are favourites of Coach Jose Mourinho, but have struggled with form this season. Quaresma was snapped up from Porto for almost £20m in the summer only to be loaned out to the Stamford Bridge side in January after he was repeatedly jeered by fans. Now Tuttosport suggest Quaresma’s loan at Chelsea could be extended in exchange for midfielder Deco. It is certainly not the first time Deco has been linked with the Nerazzurri, as he was already very close to joining them before he plumped for the Premier League. Phil Scolari’s dismissal has left him on the sidelines and he would like the chance to rediscover his form with Mourinho, who helped Deco lift the UEFA Cup and Champions League. There are other options too, as Quaresma could be used to tempt Tottenham into parting with Jermaine Jenas, while a return to Porto in exchange for Bruno Alves is another alternative.
 6. JOE COLE will be offered a new four-year deal worth £100,000-a-week in the summer. And that is despite the Chelsea star suffering an injury-hit campaign for the second time in three seasons. The England star saw his season cut short when he damaged knee ligaments in mid-January. He had played just 20 games and will not return to action until pre-season training in July. Two seasons ago injury ruled him out for five months, restricting him to just 24 games. But the Blues will still reward him with a new contract, despite his run of bad luck, in a bid to keep him at Stamford Bridge. Popular In the summer, Cole will have just one year to go on his current deal, meaning he could walk away for free in the summer of 2010. Chelsea are in no mood to allow that to happen, especially knowing one of their most popular players is already being tracked by moneybags Manchester City and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who managed Cole at West Ham. So the two parties have agreed to talk in the summer once Cole is fully recovered. And the winger is well on track. His recuperation has gone so well that Chelsea sent him off for an eight-day break in Abu Dhabi last month because he was so ahead of schedule. The Blues did not want him rushing back too soon and risking a setback that would sideline him again. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/2708...the-summer.html

 15.
ATLETICO MADRID want Chelsea centre-back Alex — and are preparing a £9million bid.
The Spaniards are planning wholesale changes for next season with new coach Cholo Simeone tipped to come in as a permanent replacement for the recently sacked Javier Aguirre. And Simeone has already told club officials that Alex is his top target. The Brazilian was previously sought by Atletico while at PSV Eindhoven but he joined Chelsea instead in 2004. Since then he has made only 40 Premier League apearances, often as a stopgap when John Terry or Ricardo Carvalho have been unavailable. And, in December, then Chelsea boss Philipe Scolari moved quickly to dispel rumours that the player was tired of playing second fiddle to the regular central defensive pairing. It could be different this summer but for now Alex says: “My head is in Chelsea.”
