<h2 class="padding-bottom-7" style="font-size: 1.05em; line-height: 1.05em;"> Chelsea are preparing a £10million swoop for PSG midfielder Stephane Sessegnon following a thumbs-up from Claude Makelele. </h2> Sessegnon, 24, has been closely monitored by both Arsenal and Newcastle. But it is Chelsea who now lead the chase for the Benin star after a recommendation from current team-mate and ex-Blues ace Makelele. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was keen to sign Sessegnon from Le Mans last summer as a replacement for Mathieu Flamini. Agent Rudy Raba said: “Stephane is not actively looking to leave PSG. "But in the next few weeks they will receive a very attractive offer.”

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has praised Guus Hiddink for the way he led Chelsea to victory at Liverpool last night. “I admire Hiddink a lot,” Ranieri told Sky Sport Italia. “The first thing he did was to get the fitness levels back up. “Guus has turned things around at Chelsea. There were reports that the team weren't training well under Luiz Felipe Scolari, plus his tactics were a bit obvious and he left out Didier Drogba. “By contrast, Hiddink's side are in prime physical condition. And when you have Drogba in the squad it is difficult to leave him out.”

QUOTE Chelsea want to land Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson. Boro chiefs are braced for a £5million summer bid for their England Under-21 international. Johnson has seen his first-team opportunities at the Riverside blocked by Stewart Downing. But England ace Downing will leave Middlesbrough in the summer - regardless of whether manager Gareth Southgate can keep them in the top flight. And that will finally open the door for 21-year-old Johnson. Yet Chelsea believe they have the pulling power and financial might to tempt the youngster to move to the Blues. Middlesbrough will recoup significant funds when they flog Downing and Gary O'Neil in the summer but relegation could mean further sales with a mounting debt to be dealt with. Chelsea want Johnson to add to their English quota and believe the talented winger can develop into a Premier League force.

QUOTE Chelsea are set to battle it out with La Liga giants Real Madrid for the signature of Inter Milan defender Maicon along with three other unnamed Premier League clubs, according to the players representative, Antonio Caliendo. Caliendo claimed recently that Los Blancos were keen to take Brazilian International Maicon to the Bernabeu in the summer, with the wing-backs agent also declaring interest in Maicon from other clubs. Now Caliendo has named Chelsea as one of the English sides keen in prising the former Monaco player away from the San Siro, but stressed that he thought the Nerazzurri were unlikely to sell Maicon unless a big-money offer was put on the table. "Not only Real Madrid have asked me about Maicon," Caliendo told Terra. "The other team that has asked about Maicon is Chelsea and there are also three other English teams that are interested. "However, personally I think that Inter are not interested in doing business. "I think that the only way they would let him go is if there is a very large proposal." Maicon has been at Inter since 2006, with the Brazilian making 85 Serie A appearances to date during his time at the San Siro. Capped by Brazil 40 times, Maicon is under contract at the Nerazurri until the summer of 2011 and is valued in the region of £25million.

Ajax have denied holding an interest in Chelsea striker Ben Sahar, who is currently on loan in Holland with De Graafschap. The Israel international joined Chelsea in the summer of 2006 but has made only three Premier League appearances as a substitute for The Blues. The vast majority of his playing time has come in successive loan spells, with Sahar enjoying moves to Hapoel Tel Aviv, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth and now De Graafschap. The 19-year-old striker has scored three goals in ten Eredivisie games with the club and it was reported that Dutch giants Ajax had taken note of his performances. However, technical manager Danny Blind has denied that a move for Sahar is in the pipline. “We watch every good player, the rest is complete nonsense,” Blind told Elf Voetbal. “There is currently nothing between Ajax and Ben Sahar. I do have an opinion of him, but I do not have the player.”

Russian International Yuri Zhirkov has hinted that he would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League at Chelsea, but also revealed that there had been no contact from the West London club with CSKA Moscow. Recent reports have linked Chelsea with a move for 25-year-old Zhirkov in the summer, with a £15million offer being mooted for the left winger, who has been dubbed ‘The Russian Ronaldinho’ in his homeland. Zhirkov, is understood to have been recommended to Blues owner Roman Abramovic, by interim-manager Guus Hiddink, who is also in charge of the Russian national team. Hiddink feels that the talented Russian is just the player required at Stamford Bridge to give a creative edge, when trying to break down opposing defences. Bayern Munich are also interested in bringing Zhirkov to the Bundesliga, but feel that they will miss out should Chelsea make a formal approach for the Russian. However, while welcoming the interest from the big European clubs, Zhirkov insists that there will only be a discussion about his future at CSKA if a firm offer arrives for him. “There are a lot of conversations about this subject but CSKA have not received any formal proposals,” the Zhirkov told Sport Express. “The president of our club always talks to me about it. To represent a top European club, I think no self-respecting footballer would refuse. “Talk about this topic [which club he could join] is a guess. When an offer arrives it can be discussed. “Further statements are for CSKA. In autumn the team starts in the UEFA Champions League and will break the barrier of the group stags, I think all the preconditions for this exist.”

QUOTE Chelsea are being linked with a shock move for Tottenham defender Gareth Bale, while Juventus are also keen. Bale has struggled to command a regular place in Harry Redknapp's side at White Hart Lane and reports have claimed that Chelsea are preparing a bid to take him to Stamford Bridge. Whether Bale would fancy playing second fiddle to Ashley Cole at Chelsea remains to be seen, while Cristian Molinaro and Paolo De Ceglie would be ahead of him in the pecking order at Juve. Redknapp will be looking to make changes to his squad in the summer and Bale could be a casualty. There would be no shortage of offers for the Welshman though and Chelsea could be heading the queue for his services. Jamie O'Hara and Tom Huddlestone could also be on the move if reports in the press are to be believed with Fulham said to be keen on the duo. http://www.clubcall.com/tottenham-hotspur/...tch-881972.html
