Knee-jerk to say the least. Yeah it wasn't good, but we moved up in the table. No need for this.
-
I agree with the first bit. It was a bad team attacking performance and he was on for like 10 mins. That, added to the fact he's new to the EPL is naturally going to generate hype. Unwarranted until he gets more game time under his belt methinks.
-
Grudgingly not all bad I guess. Clean sheet and all that, moved up to 3rd. Out of context it was acceptable. Just. As some have said, we were leaking goals before, at the VERY LEAST we can try and cheer up and say "well at least we're a bit more solid". Other than that, I'm gonna wait to see what happens going forward. Keep the faith gentlemen :blue scalf:

Someone remind me why he would even contemplate coming here?

I feel it's been discussed before but what's the likelihood that we could bring him back in January?

Fuck it. He's the manager now so he's got my backing but I'm not gonna smile once until he's gone. Starting now

Benitez is a very good manager. Is he a douchebag? Yes. There lies the balancing act. We may not like him but at least he's proven and tactically very capable. I'd rather Pep or Jose but then who in the world wouldn't? If neither are available, benitez is a very good option regardless of the way he is percieved by chelsea fans. I don't like him but I respect him and he'd be a good manager.

I'm predicting insanity in January now. Sacking RDM just screams panic button so I wouldn't be surprised to see reinforcements brought in for insane prices. Everyone else is looking at this sacking and rubbing their hands together with glee...

There is no plan here. There really isn't. Our tactics are give it to the three and hope they do something. Early this season they pulled the rabbit out of the hat repeatedly and all was well, but it's so apparent that we don't have any attacking pattern at all. Pissed off.

The day Torres leaves I fully expect an anti social behaviour order, so extreme will my celebrating be.
-
On current form I would respectfully disagree
-
I'm in favour of bringing him back. He's performing in the same league against the same teams we play. He'd come here and in all probability be the best striker in the squad so don't see many negatives. Think it's unlikely but I wouldn't be opposed.
-
Desperately need a striker. If I was Juan, Eden or Oscar, I'd have long since given up hope that supplying Torres will result in anything... If it's not worth passing to our strikers then there's only so much we can do

Chelsea in pole position for Guardiola
Funkyflashman replied to Namika's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
This is a pretty weak argument. Barcelona are glorified for being the most successful side of all time and they certainly didn't achieve that with a weak defense They defend with the ball at their feet, which requires immense skill and teamwork. The less the opponent has the ball, the less opportunities they have to score. In this respect Barca play the purest defense of anyone anywhere. They also do not attack blindlessly. They may pass the ball around very quickly, but the actual speed of the build up is very patient and cautious. They absolutely do not career towards goal in numbers with no regard for defense. Now whether it is boring or not is a different argument and I respect your opinion on that front, but to say Barca mindlessly attack is doing a gross disservice to Guardiola, Barcelona and their style of play. -
He could be played as a striker though, rather than the band of 3, which is what I think RDM would do with him if the move went ahead
-
Think he'd be a great buy for January window. He'd improve our striker depth and I think he'd be good at it if played regularly. Young and wold grow up with Mazacar. I approve this move.

I would absolutely LOVE Jackson Martinez from Porto. Something about him just screams top-class striker

The CM depends on what happens to Josh and KDB. If they end up staying at cfc next season then I think a loan cm would be the best option for the future. Trouble is I can't think of that many quality CMs available for a loan move...
-
So the window is less than two months away and this being Chelsea, I think we can safely assume that there will be some activity. The question is, what positions need strengthening this early and who's likely to fit the bill. Also who, if anyone is heading for an exit... For me there are 2/3 main areas of need for this squad, notably a CM for the pivot, a CB and a new striker. Additions in any area would, I'm sure you'd all agree, strengthen this team a lot more than new attacking midfielders. With this is mind, I'm curious to see what movement we will all see, be it specific players, or movement in a specific position. I think the most likely scenario is a new striker (but not a superstar Cavani/Falcao etc) and either a new CM or a new CB. To clarify, that is what I think is likely, not necessarily what I would most like to see. If we take into consideration that we most likely will not spend a HUGE amount in January, I would love to see something along the lines of Etienne Capoue and Nelson Oliveira. Young and talented and would strengthen our squad. Thoughts and opinions anyone?
