I guess the person is assuming due to previous history with injury.

Well this where I disagree. One, being, people are saying it looked like Palmer was struggling (injury-wise) and even so, he wasn't really influential. He done a nice couple passes but didn't do anything significant. Also, how much managers have the luxury of having Felix, Nkunku to come off the bench?? We do. I genuinely think with fresh legs, Felix would have posed more of a threat second half. Postecoglou took of his main playmaker in Maddison at half-time against West Ham for tactical reasons and won the game. Salah has been tremendous for Liverpool this season. Look at this, Slot took him off against Palace quite early against Palace whilst the game was still in the balance and they won the game. Even more surprisingly, they beat Leipzig few weeks ago away from home,1-0, whilst the game is still in the balance. Salah was subbed up off at the 63rd minute. I didn't thought Salah was bad and Salah was visibly frustrated but Slot obviously wasn't happy with something but he was not afraid to take off his best player and they looked comfortable. You can twist it this way and say imagine the headlines if he took off Palmer and brought on Felix who scored the winner. Works both ways. How I see it is, we have played United, Liverpool and Arsenal and not won any of the games and our main playmaker has not created much during the game so sub him off. It is not as if we have a weak bench, but could have a more fresh player offered something different? Possibly but if he keeps him on the field 90 mins, it is almost saying, you can be below-par but you will play the whole game regardless. You either change his position or take him off. Managers have to be bold sometimes. Forget what the 'headlines' say.

Maresca needs to stop giving Palmer 'untouchable' status. If he isn't playing great then take him off. In some of the biggest games this season such as Liverpool and United, he played him whole game and he did not do anything to change the game of note. So today, he was quite quiet, especially in second half and if he was indeed struggling, then he should have came off. Why are we buying likes of Felix and Nkunku who are really good bench options if we are afraid to use them. Happy with the point but frustrated with the subs. Neto was MOTM for me. He was brilliant all game. Fofana I thought was brilliant today too.

I will love to say we would keep a clean sheet but can't see us shutting out every single set piece they have. That is there strongest point. Think they have scored set piece goals in most of their difficult games this season. Basically a cheat code for them.
-
That looked more like a foul from KDH or am I missing something... lol. Nkunku should let Felix get his hattrick this time. He has his goal.
-
Also, maybe Livramento if James had as much injuries then as he did now.
-
Solanke now too.
-
Yes. Guehi, Chalobah scoring. Livramento and Hall putting in top performances against the Gooners. Lewis Hall was fantastic in particular and got MOTM. Aina and CHO scoring too.

Honestly, I mean this when I say this, no biased aside. I wouldn't have another DM over him right now. He has everything you want as a CDM. He wins his tackles and also bosses the game and is a very good passer too. I remember someone on here before saying to me that Gallagher was a better passer and they simply used the stats as their evidence when Gallagher played further advanced than Caicedo. Caicedo's passing is underrated. He has twice this season now played superb through balls to Jackson. For his age and current ability combined with he is getting better, yes I would not take another DM over him right now. Exactly. Agreed.

I think I can gleefully state I am right on this now. People wrote him off way too quickly and was not willing to give him time. I wish fans did give patience. In fact who remembers when Modric first joined Real and was voted worst signing of the season... and then look how tables turned. Caicedo is becoming a dominant force for us. Controlling games, winning tackles and has a real eye for a pass too. Not calling you out but just interested to see now, nearly a year on if you think he has proved you wrong? I think a majority of people were unconvinced by him tbh but I think he has been consistently good for a while noe.

He scored a top header against Brighton though Jimmy 😄 but yeah, for a tall guy maybe he could work on being more of a threat aerially I guess.
-
I don't think they will risk him. My guess would be he is back against Arsenal.
-
I don't think Vini Jr would entertain moving to Saudi until his 30s. A complete no-go. Bellingham also imo looked lost tonight too. Barely impacted the game. Was interesting to hear that this time last season, he already had 10 goals to his name, whilst this season he has none.

They are ahead of us in development and although they have a new manager, they pretty much have a settled squad. Liverpool are ready to compete this season. I don't think they will win it though. It took Arsenal 5 years or so under Arteta to build a title challenging team. We can do the same and have money at our disposal.
-
We just came off short. Liverpool were just the better team over the 90 mins. We showed we are developing well but not yet capable of competing for the title but defo can get top 4/5 hopefully. To the game itself, Lavia did well before coming off. Caicedo I thought was brilliant. Neto looked good when he came on. Madueke caused Robertson problems, especially in the first half. TBH, I know Palmer has been great and is our best player but I personally think he should have came off. He was completely anonymous and I think Maresca should have taken him off and just acknowledge top players have bad games. It isn't a bad thing. The other attackers on the field were better than him and I think Nkunku should hav came on for him instead of Madueke. Klopp used to do the same with Salah in games where he was bad/average and it would just spur him on even more. Same way Maresca said other players need to help Palmer, he also should show that he can take him out the firing line because he really struggled today.

He made his full debut for Portugal last night. He started alongside Dias, which was a big call from Martinez considering he left the likes of Inácio out and Antonio Silva was left on the bench and he was up against Lewandowski. Seems Martinez and fans were very impressed by his performance too 👍

Didn't know where to post this, however really sad. RIP George Baldock. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c99v5px2nd1o

All the strikers we were linked with in the summer scoring for fun recently. Samu, Sesko and Duran. First time I have seen Samu play live and he looks good. 2 excellent finishes against United and generally looks a real handful. Mix of pace and aerial ability.
-
I have said before that I did not get the hype with Alvarez. I saw him many times leading the line for City in Haaland's absence and he did not impress me. I don't see why people were clawing to have him ahead of Jackson. Good link up play but for me as the sole striker, does not cut it for me.
-
He was absolutely fantastic. Brilliant player. Other than Palmer, best player on the pitch.
-
Same way we exploited the big pitch and West Ham's high line, it would be strange for Maresca not to play Jackson up front. Brighton play a high line consistently and that is what caught them out for Forest's equalizer against them last week. We probably should and will keep Jackson up front because of this due to his pace.
-
No it was not. As good as Gallagher is, he is not necessarily suited to a possession based team. Maresca informed Gallagher he would be a squad player. Gallagher decided to move. We offered him a contract which yeah was not favourable for his terms, however we have a manager who is trying to implement his style. Is KDH suited to that? Yes. Is Gallagher? No. The board gets criticised for buying players for sake of it, but now when a manager is bringing in a player who suits his football, he still gets slack... KDH has not even been here for 3 months yet and people aren't even willing to give him a chance... Unbelievable.
-
He played under Maresca and is suited to his style of football. He was never going to a permanent start but good depth and rotation. He has come in some of our league games. If we get injuries like we did last season, he will get games and will get game time regardless because we are competing for a lot of trophies. For eg he most likely would have started against Bournemouth had he not been ill which was unfortunate timing. Let's see how things plan out before writing off the player and move.
-
Honestly, it embarrasses me the knee-jerk reaction from so called 'supporters' sometimes. We have bought a player who is into his second month at a new team who does not get in our best 11 and already the jury is out. Even when we played Servette, some people were saying Tosin was trash etc now when Tosin has taken his chance and given more time, people suddenly change their views. Give him time ffs. Like I said, he is adapting to new surroundings ina much better team and he has not even been here long or been given a run in the team. Give him a chance to get adapted to the team and players before judging him.

What a solo goal Pulisic scored. Started the season well.
