  1. We bought Cahill. He helped us win the Champions League, including putting in a masterclass performance in the final vs. Bayern Munich. He was bought from now-relegated Bolton. Wigan aren't relegated. Cahill also isn't world class. A team is supposed to be built up with a mix of world-class players, experience, promising youngsters and squad players. Do you expect us to buy Thiago Silva? You don't just magically find and buy world class players. You buy players with potential, and then turn them world class.
  2. Exactly the same as Victor Moses, naturally a striker, then.
  3. No-one claimed Moses is an out-and-out striker. Why do you think we're trying to buy a WINGER then? Why are we even talking about WINGERS? Because Ramires won't be our starting right-winger next season. I see you're completely disregarding Sturridge leading the line for Bolton then, scoring most of his goals from headers and one on one situations after getting past centre-backs. How on earth can you talk about the idea of Sturridge getting bullied easily by CB's, and be talking about Jovetic as back-up instead? *facepalm*
  4. He only ever plays on the wing for Germany too, though, and we're about to enter his 2nd season of him playing on the wing, as a winger. He's also known in the Bundesliga for being an inefficient finisher (based on this past season only though.)
  5. Well he's naturally a striker, who's simply deployed on the wing. Just like Sturridge, Hulk, how Anelka was, etc.
  6. There's so much I could face palm at there. Ramires is a central midfielder. He was played out of position on the wing. So you want Moses, who is apparently not a striker (I assume you mean he's a winger then), to be back up to a central midfielder? You want Schurrle and Jovetic, neither of whom are strikers, as back-up strikers? Moses is unproven at the top level? He's proven in the Premier League. When was Jovetic proven? Or do you mean Sturridge, our top scoring forward this season, is unproven? Moses as back-up to Marin? You DO realise don't you that Marin IS the back-up? You want to sell our joint top goalscorer this season, top scoring forward, who's also home-grown? How on earth could you imply that I'm delusional?
  7. In a perfect world (for me), this transfer would mean Torres leaving for anything above £20mil to Juventus, Sturridge becoming our starting striker and then Lukaku + Moses being his back-up. But no, of course that won't happen. (Just remember - Sturridge was our joint-top scorer when OUT OF POSITION on the right-wing, while he got 8 goals in 12 games for Bolton as a striker. He is good enough to succeed here. He just needs a proper chance at being our main striker.)
  8. Why do people always want McEachran loaned to a Premier League club? A Premier League manager has nothing to judge McEachran on other than what he does in training. It would be far too much of a risk to play him. We need to send him out to the Championship. We did that with Bertrand, and look at him now - starting a Champions League final - and helping his team win it. We're pushing far too fast with Josh.
  9. Re: Kakuta - At Bolton and Fulham, Kakuta pretty much failed on the wing. At Dijon, he was one of their best players when used in his actual role, in behind the striker. There is absolutely no way he'll be getting game time ahead of Mata though, even against a team like Wigan. On the left, we've got Mata, Hazard, Marin, Sturridge, De Bruyne, Malouda etc. all able to play there. On the right, we've got all the same again, aside from Malouda. Through the centre, we've got Mata, Hazard, Marin, De Bruyne, Lampard etc. all able to play there, too. I understand that there's a bias towards players who have come through our youth system (as I share this bias), but although he has, at times, shown some individual brilliance, I personally don't believe he's a good enough team player or player in general to make it at a top club. He accessorises his game too much.
  10. People on here must think I'm crazy for despising the idea of us signing Hulk, Van Der Wiel, etc. yet I literally jump out of my chair the moment we're linked with Victor Moses. Oh how it's an odd world when you're...well, odd.
  11. Good stat from Twitter - Victor Moses completed the most dribbles in the Premier League last season. Who knows. Maybe he's not wanted for back-up. Maybe we want him for our right wing instead of Hulk? (He's also a brilliant team player, which is what we need on the wing. I can't handle the frustration of Sturridge-like situations again next season!)
  12. Would love for this transfer to happen. He's basically a consistent version of Kalou in my opinion. Would be a brilliant squad player, and IF this transfer were to happen (which unfortunately I feel it won't), I'm getting one those genuinely good feelings about it. I believe he'd unlock his potential here and rip smaller-to-mid teams apart to everyone's surprise. Oh and by the way - Of course this is unlikely given our record... but this feels like it would be a Di Matteo signing... not an Abramovich or Gourlay or whoever signing. Would be amazing business.
  13. Hi Luka. You're probably not reading this as you've just finished a game, but if you're on your iPhone and happen to be browsing - Remember when you nearly joined us last year? You should have tried harder and forced the deal. We won the Champions League, F.A. Cup AND won a place in the Champions League for next season. You have none of these things, and you potentially could have had all 3. uJelly?
  14. Re: Giovinco - As mentioned above, he's extremely similar to Zola, only he isn't a free-kick specialist like Zola was, and probably less technically skilled. He wouldn't fit in our formation at all. He's a supporting striker, and that's how you get results with him. It looks like he will be a Juventus boy again very soon, but yes, it looks likely he could be used in an exchange deal. The 2 players linked with the exchange are Cavani and, of course, Torres. He's probably already at his peak (he's older than people think), and although this is said about a lot of players and can sound ignorant, he'd probably get destroyed in this league. Juventus/Parma seem to be valuing him around £20mil, but I personally believe he's worth £12mil tops. Lovely player though. I hope he stays in Serie A. I want to watch him with Juve in a 4-3-3 system with the 2 'wide men' acting as supporting strikers (Vucinic and Gio).
  15. So - Rumours are Juventus have bid £24mil for Torres (I've been hearing they'd bid since January). IF this is true, would you accept it? Who would we buy as a replacement? Falcao is the only realistic option in my opinion. My understanding is that Atletico Madrid still owe Porto the majority of the transfer fee and may even be forced into selling.
  16. No offence to any fans of either team here (as I'm aware some people on here support these teams), but - When it comes to Celtic, I find that they have very aggressive fans who do some very aggressive stuff outside of football. They're a lot more quiet than Rangers fans when it comes to debates and arguments, and they also seem a lot more humble. They have some disgusting chants however, and are often offensive. Rangers fans annoy me more than any other fans in the world. Literally. They (most of them, not all of them) always like to play both the victim and the bully at the same time when it comes to their club. Their sayings are extremely stupid and contradictory also. You will hear them shouting at other fans "WE ARE ONE OF THE MOST SUPPORTED TEAMS IN THE WORLD!!!" and then in the very same breathe say their silly saying "NO-ONE LIKES US WE DON'T CARE, WE ARE THE PEOPLE!". If no one likes you, how are you one of the most supported teams in the world? If you don't care about it, why do you come up with chants, songs and quotes about it? The constant bullshit about the amount of league titles they've won too irritates me so fucking much too. They don't even realise that there's a team in Uruguay (I'll try and find their name later) with 2 more league titles than them. They also seem to always put words in Celtic supporters' mouths, and pretend like Celtic fans have said something wrong (of course they have actually said wrong things at times, but a lot of RFC supporters just make up shit to justify shouting abuse at them). A lot of Rangers fans tend to be ignorant, obnoxious and have little-to-no respect for people outside of their family and close friends. They are the most frustrating and deluded people I've ever come across when it comes to actually talking football. It's as if they don't know what a conversation they is. They just want to shout their point (which is usually wrong) until you give up. So - If I had a gun to my head, I'd rather support Celtic. This is just from my experience. I understand there are some strong things I've said, and not all Rangers/Celtic fans are like this, but I'm just saying what I've experienced. No offence intended.
  17. I agree with the above. I love legends coming back. It makes the club more attractive and improves the family feel. Example - Zidane, one of the greatest players of all time, now works at Real Madrid and does scouting, gives opinions etc. If an attacking midfielder who idolized Zidane (like many do) is deciding whether or not to join Madrid after receiving an offer, and then finds out that Zidane himself was part of the people wanting him at the club, that would almost guarantee him joining. It also adds more people to the club who genuinely want the best for the club, and don't just want to fill their pockets as a staff member while secretly supporting Arsenal or someone. I'd be very glad to add Desailly as a defensive coach, Zola as a member of the board (wouldn't have to be too involved), and then Shevchenko or Tore Andre Flo or someone coming in and coaching the strikers. I wish I could think of a role for Dennis Wise (if Newton leaves, I'd love him as assistant), but I can't come up with something which would best use his skills as a person. He's more of a motivator than a coach in my opinion.
  18. How do we know he's REALLY signing for us and not just trolling us? Yes, he has changed his Twitter to say "Chelsea FC" and "London", but I'm certain that it was his brother Thorgan Hazard on Chelsea TV :/ Guys I don't think we're really getting him
  19. AVB HAS APPARENTLY BEEN GIVEN A THREE YEAR DEAL AT TOTTENHAM! I fear he'll do well there. Very attacking team, a board/owner who thinks more like him etc.
  20. Future Chelsea legend. Clearly.
  21. I understand what you're saying, but I'm still adamant that the things he gets right are lucky guesses or taken from smaller accounts who actually DO have sources. I'll give an example of something made up on the spot which would sound convincing to some re: Debuchy: - After the completion of the Eden Hazard deal, to Chelsea; from Lille, Lille's sporting director has built a stronger rapport with Chelsea head scout Piet de Visser [who spoke personally to Eden Hazard before his signing], both of whom actually scouted Eden Hazard together (although for different clubs) in 2005, 2 years prior to him signing a deal with the French club. With one of De Bruyne or Lukaku looking like heading out on loan to Lille in the new season, my source tells me we've been given first refusal on Debuchy, who will be making his decision after Euro 2012. His release clause is rumoured to be £8mill, but Lille look likely to accept a £7mil bid from us, after rejecting a £6mil bid from Newcastle United. Easy peasy. Now if Debuchy signs and one of our players goes out on loan to Lille (which is semi-likely), I gain credibility. If Debuchy doesn't sign however, I say that De Bruyne/Lukaku didn't want to be loaned out to Lille, so the deal was called off (assuming they don't actually get loaned there.)
  22. Sorry for sounding like a cunt, but although the ChelseaRumours person seems like quite a nice guy, what he says is bullshit. His 'sources' are actually just his own 'assumptions'. Most of what he says is either made up on the spot or copied from an unreliable rumour sight like CaughtOffside or TribalFootball.
  23. I'm beginning to believe that Debuchy really should be our top priority now for a few reasons: First of all - Although I do personally feel safer with him at right back, it's no secret that Ivanovic prefers playing at centre-back; as he came out to say a day or 2 ago. Terry, Luiz, Cahill, Ivanovic. We'd be set for centre backs then. Debuchy would come in as our number 1 right back, with Ivanovic, Ramires, Romeu and Ferreira all able to cover, as well as Hutchinson. (Of course I always go on about how I'd love Todd Kane to be our right back, but he's far from ready at this point.) This would also bring another French speaking player to the club (Cech, Lampard [a bit], Malouda, Lukaku, Kakuta, Courtois + De Bruyne) which I believe is essential to help Hazard settle. When you spend this much on a player [Hazard], you should pull out all the stops to make sure they hit the ground happy. The fact that he and Hazard are also both Lille boys can only be good. All that aside, he's simply a great player, who would be fantastic value for money. Do I want him? Yes. Do I think we'll get him? No. Where do I think he will end up? I believe he'll either stay at Lille, or go to Newcastle/Roma/PSG/Inter Milan. How much do I think he's worth? £12mil. [Rumours have it his release clause is around only £8mil though!]
