I disagree that he has not delivered big game performances, but I think my expectations are vastly different from others here. Delivering big game performances is simply quality: skillful, technique, mentality, the whole package. We have a quality team, but less quality than the teams we compete against in both PL and CL. So how do we compete if we have less quality and can't compete with them when signing new talent? By employing players with strong mentality, tactical discipline, who can disrupt more skillful players and teams. That's how we won and how we can win again. Lukaku weakens our tactical discipline. Mount strengthens it. That's the type off player he is; the fact he can deliver an assist, a goal, is just the icing on the cake and makes him better in the *role* he plays.

Very underrated player and will be missed esp in CL.

https://ge.globo.com/futebol/futebol-internacional/noticia/thiago-silva-repete-pelo-Chelsea-penalti-ja-cometido-com-as-camisas-do-psg-e-da-selecao.ghtml basically it’s a recurring issue with Thiago.
-
They both were by the new rules, but I do t like the rule eh. From a certain POV Thiagos was less intentional and did not stop the trajectory but I guess the rule is now to lower the need for interpretations

Ridiculous play by Thiago

Whoever scores first will win it… very tight affair.

TBf with Palmeiras fans, their arch rivals faced a MUCH lesser team when Corinthians beat us back then...w/ Mikel and friends lol. Corinthians manager was Tite, who now manages Brazil. Palmeiras' manager is considered the (or at least one of the very) best in South America right now. Maybe some players coming back will make the team a bit more robust... too many passengers atm.

Palmeiras is all intensity and pace! We won't win if If we don't match them there.
-
Can't have intensity with Lukaku and Ziyech... they just don't have it

I think 21-24 is the time footballers define how good they will be. Seen players who looked like little Maradonas at 20 who turned into nothing, and players who were nothing at 20 and turned into excellent footballers. My point is to not be so quick in affirming what a player will be at such an early stage. Scouts make a lot of money out of it and still get it wrong fairly often. We could get rid of him and then he pulls a Salah elsewhere.
-
reminder he's 21 😉

Grealish lol Pretty much interchangeable with any other player City already had in the final third. Odoi's best season by far tho -- finally showing something we've expected from him.

Poor footballer, and turns out, garbage human being as well https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60109474
-
That's totally unfair considering Lukaku did not play against Brighton. 😉
-
Fair enough, but it's a tough time at the club: Chelsea apparently just recalled Kennedy! of all people.... 😕 Played like shit on loan at flamengo - 17 games and one goal
-
This is a tricky one. On one hand he's been playing at the top of his game, and he's still 28, so he's got another few years of quality play ahead of him barring injuries. On the other hand, he already did play for us at the top of his game, and won everything, so it's perhaps time to let him go to become hungry again. This is the most difficult decision a football club need to make, and they usually get this wrong by extending contracts based on prior performance. Hope the folks with all the data can get this right this time around.

It's really beyond me how anyone can watch him play and see an elite striker. With that out of the way, Lukaku obviously has strengths as a footballer: most if not all around his physicality, which would make him a good option to have if we ignore the price tag. Except! that he DOES see himself as an elite striker and on top of that comes a bad attitude when being benched for whatever reason. So, either Tuchel plays him VERY regularly or he will make noise again. He does not like being in rotation... did not like at United and does not like it at Chelsea. He loved inter because there he always played whenever available.
-
Agreed. He also broke the locker room code by going to the press. Affects the whole dynamic there like his teammates who thrive under the very conditions he openly complains about. toxic individual but then again this signing was all wrong from the get go.
-
Salah was the one who got away. brilliant player and intensity to boot
-
Attempting to head that ball makes you question whether he’s actually a footballer. absolutely inexcusable.
-
No argument here. I’m not big fan of tammy, but like I wrote on the lukaku thread, tammy is hard working and would be happy rotating. I’d be for going a different route and get someone young like tammy but more skillful, but nope needed to spend the dough that was lying around eh. where is timo?! Need him back in form asap.
-
Team is not flowing… play is pedantic. Intensity is still there but not much else. Lukaku scored a great strikers goal and at the same tIme played like shit; story of his game for me.
-
It's not just goals either. Abraham is actually playing better than Lukaku. Don't get me wrong, I still think Abraham isn't good enough to lead the line for us, but I'd rather have Tammy here than Lukaku. Tammy would be a good, and more importantly, happy rotation player for us. He can press and track back, something Lukaku does not do enough of. Abraham had a very good game against Atalanta, combining well with Zaniolo who finally looks fitter coming back from his bad injury/injuries--he can make Italy a lot better. Tammy still makes a lot of mistakes in the build up, like an overcooked pass in a counter.

perhaps because his feet being that big, makes his poor first touch less important?
