Come on kova you deserved that goal man.. early shot there and it was in!
-
Thiago mtom for me but kova and alonso were very good as well. other good performances too like Andreas and azpi. Spurs just aren’t a match for us atm.
-
Not a good game by lukaku so far. Poor touches, decisions, and passes. still Spurs defense panics when he’s running at them lol
-
Nah attitude and tactical change bringing a WC player in the mix. couple of others were/are just as poor as mount in the final third today. Don’t get into the negativity here we’re not that bad in the first and have upped our game in second. we are much better than Spurs regardless who plays. alonso is playing very well but can’t say that here. Lol

Agreed. I think he's progressing nicely though. It's always a curve with ups and downs. However, like I write below, he will never be a super creative player, and that's fine. We can fill that (creative) role elsewhere in the team. Think your focus here is misplaced on mount. What you want from Mount, and what the manager wants from him, seem to be very different things indeed. Not only Tuchel... every manager loves him! Tuchel leaves and the first player on the starting XI will be mount.... wanna bet?! You are looking at this from one PoV only, and only attacking minded. Mount's worse than Lampard and Fabregas (they were nothing alike either) in some aspects and better in others. I'd say characteristics wise, Mount's nothing like Lampard much less fabregas. He's a fine player with his own characteristics. His mobility alone should make that abundantly clear. If you want more creativity, well, that's why there are other positions we can use to add more creativity. It's not mount's fault Ziyech is such a shit player. That Odoi can't take the next step in his game. That Pulisic is up and down both form and fitness wise (and a bit too similar to Werner). Lukaku himself isn't a very creative striker (say like Benzema or Lewa), who can help make the team tick. It's not his fault... we got him knowing what he does on the pitch. It's up to the club and manager to provide what Lukaku lacks elsewhere on the pitch. And it's the same with Mount. That's why you build a team with different characteristics and skillsets. Think folks here seem to be focusing on his position too much, while what really matters is his role in the squad.

Would've been a lot more worrying if <170 in FM2022
-
Comparing a picture should suffice. No need to go into stats and whatnot. 😄
-
He needs to improve his game if he wants to play for us. That's the difference between pre-season and real competitive games right there. Piss poor in the PL so far... maybe PL is a bit too quick and powerful for him?
-
and comes back covid positive, which would take him out for another couple of weeks at least. ☹️ Dunno what's worse, AFCON or Copa America. I guess the latter at least has Argentina and Brazil, but it's just as poorly organized.
-
Can't disagree that it was a worrying debut, but here's a very strong silver lining: Bakayoko had a great debut!
-
Will he tho? The most interesting thing, to me at least, about this season is to find out what will be gained and lost by employing a dedicated striker. What is gained is obvious considering that Lukaku is a great finisher, and a powerful athlete. What is lost is a bit more subtle and may not become evident until we face stronger opposition in certain conditions. early days, but It does appear that our volume of play is lower compared to last season. This was expected given that Lukaku does not contribute as much in the build up play and certainly does not press as much up front. The biggest question remains: will his specific goal contribution outweigh what was potentially lost? Update: I have a suspicion that it will work out in the PL (to some degree), but not so much in the CL.
-
yeah he was very poor... worse debut than ramires had (or maybe ramires struggled more in the subsequent matches?). So, nope he won't adapt to PL's tempo right away. If tuchel's idea was to rest Jorgi right away, well that's not going to happen.
-
You guys are trying really hard to disagree on something... 😁 I tend to agree that Jorgi is more of the foundations guy, so perhaps we depend more on him being there, while Kante is the icing on the cake, the one thing a lot of top clubs lack... the hard worker with quality. I think Mount is falling into the same category (albeit different role) as he progresses. However, Kova replaces Jorgi better than he replaces Kante. Kante is rarer and it's going to be extremely difficult to replace him. Look at Fred at united... that's what's out there. 😅 Jogi and Kante are both awesome! Kova not that much behind, just a bit inconsistent. Hopefully Saul is in the same ballpark.

Chilwell is better in some aspects and worse in others. We all agree that pace is pretty important for a lb as well as a wing back, and Alonso lacks there. On the other hand he's still a pretty skillful player who can definitely influence games when he's fit. And he's definitely fit right now, at least to my eyes. I don't really think he's just goals; think his passing, esp in tight spaces, is what makes him a good player. Chilwell will take over in time once he's fit and playing better than alonso in training, as it's supposed to be. Think Tuchel is always sending a message here, which is absolutely top management imo.
-
Just hope his skill is proportional to the number of accents in his name. Seriously, much needed signing for (at least) strength in depth. 👏
-
That was a good move by him. There also a half-volley combining with Alonso in the second. My criticism is that that's not the norm. His norm with the ball at his feet is not impressive, and seems to stumble more at pace than he should. All in all, he's what he is and we fully knew that before signing him. he will score goals due his pace and power, but I still hope he's managed correctly. No, he did not have a great game against Pool. Yes, there were times he could have received an early pass, but in others, when he did receive the pass, he wasn't great... lost the ball cheaply or made the wrong pass.
-
Brilliant player and extremely intelligent. One of my favorite players in the team. No matter the manager, he will always play when fit. He will play for us and he will play for England, because he brings so much to the team. His tactical awareness is key in making a team competitive. All competitive sides have this type of player in their starting XI, but we have the best version of that type of player. Mount is young and will improve, but right now he's already an attacking threat especially considering all else that he already does for the team. you know not long ago this fella assisted in a CL final. He seems to up his game against the toughest opposition. That’s what I like most about him.
-
Lol alonso had a good game and so did Jorginho. They did exactly what the game required esp after the sending off which is slow down the game a bit. starting alonso is a choice by the manager who’s the one thinking about team balance and strategy. It’s not like he’s a new player and his characteristics are unknown. Agree with @Tomo on lukaku and while we can argue about the start, the second half demanded a different type but he will keep on playing regardless. all in all a good game esp considering the situation Reece put us in. regarding the penalty, as clear as day with obvious intent. the red card, although appears excessive, is meant to work as a deterrent. In other words, the player should’ve known better.
-
As clear a pk as it gets and a red to follow. Folks here are nuts… lol stupid play by James. Take the goal and play the fucking game.
-
Reece was stupid. Let the ball in. Take the goal and stay with 11. I do t like the double jeopardy situ here, but it’s the rule atm and players should be aware of it no excuses. lukaku was having a pretty mediocre game for me which was not surprising but hey.
-
Rumor in Brazil is that PSG has made an offer for G. Jesus. Makes sense to me: join his buddy Neymar and PSG gets a workhorse that will willingly run into the ground for Neymar.
-
good for arsenal... now they might be able to get rid of Aubameyang Skillful player, but way too lazy for the modern football. Folks criticize Arteta, but Arsenal has 3+ players, many of whom are attackers, who will never work in a high press system.
-
Soucek is also a very good player. He's always a thorn when we play them.
-
Timing of these tough away matches (even arsenal should improve later in the season) has been real nice. This is the best time to play Liverpool and we are in better form than they are. The return VDK is obviously huge for them, but we have carried our form from last season. Our pressing is great and so is our movement... we can play anyone at the moment.
-
Easy game against a disjointed team. thought lukaku had a good game nothing special. Couple of poor touches and miscontrol, but physical presence at all times-basically what we expected of him. Dominated in all areas of the pitch. Embarrassing Arsenal… Pepe is such an awful footballler. we even gave them a chance by resting kante for most of the match. Lol kai is becoming an amazing player!
