  1. Lot of knee-jerk posts today - this one is comparing the team to Everton 😃. I can understand Tuchel should be scrutinised but he is still an extremely good coach and his record here till now is kinda impressive with a squad that he basically inherited and barely changed. Transfer targets list this summer - De Ligt, Ake, Gvardiol, Kimpembe, Fofana, Raphinha, FdJ, Koulibaly, Sterling, Jesus, Zinchenko, Cucurella, Gordon, Lewandowski, Aubameyang (15 m price) What exactly is mid-table about this? Mid-table level targets are signing for Barca, Bayern and thriving (early signs) at Arsenal? Gvardiol and Cucurella were wanted by Pep and City. The club also didn't want to overpay for Ake and Auba - I would say this is a pretty good list - Could you tell me who you would be targeting if these are mid-table targets?
  2. Will take a 50m + fee this late in the window. There are a few punts that can be taken in the market - Isak, David, Osimhen (tough pull) I think it will only be a stopgap this late in the window - Auba, Ronaldo or Zaha
  3. Our ownership change and late start in the window seems to be the reason we missed out on Jesus. It is not true that the club did not go for him https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jesus-Chelsea-transfer-hijack-arsenal-27500960 On Aubameyang - the club is sticking to a reasonable fee. The thought process seems to be fine, there is just no proven striker target available.
  4. Yes yes. Can't get them all. But midfield refresh has been put off for years now. We have relied on Kante. Jorginho and Kova since the Sarri days
  5. I know hindsight and all. But not just Tchouameni but clubs missed out on Bruno Guimares before he signed for Newcastle. Looks like a physical Jorginho
  6. Pope had a blinder and City have still scored thrice
  7. Arsenal vs the big six last season Played: 10 Won: 3 Drawn: 0 Lost: 7 Even United had a better record last year.
  8. way too early to read into Arsenal imo. Let them play a meaningful opponent. Its been Palace, Brighton and Leicester. Newcastle are playing really well here but over the season, it is difficult to see City have a big drop off from their 80+ points streak
  9. Because no interest even with wages covered and club is waiting to see if there's an offer since they spent a lot on him. Reports were on the Napoli deal, Chelsea was going to cover 70% of wages
  10. Used him sparingly and wasn't near any meaningful Champions League or Premier League game that Mendy was available for. Also why no club is taking a punt on him this summer (Even with Chelsea rumored to be covering wages)?
  11. Just no. Mendy's mistake was a brainfade. It has happened a few too many times - Real Madrid and West Ham last season (that directly led to goals) but still he at least covers the goal. There is no redemption with Kepa. We moved on long ago.
  12. Newcastle are competing really well here though
  13. Mount corners reminding me of Willian these days
  14. Gallagher is covering for the huge gaps left by J5 getting beaten by the Leeds mid. He's been okay on the ball
  15. Yes. It is the choice to try and dribble the attacker there that's worrying. Often in these situations he takes the complicated route. Real Madrid in the quarterfinals last year too
  16. Sigh. Why is Mendy taking this level of risks ?
  17. Daily Mail was the first to break news of Cucurella to Chelsea but it was not this reporter
  18. Both have contracts till 2025. Don't think a move was on the cards this summer other than for silly money.
  19. He was on low wages at Barca - it was supposed to increase this summer. Hopefully club have got him to agree to reasonable wages. Haaland and Nunez aside, was there any striker available in the summer who was in their prime and was a proven pick?
  20. There's a reason why literally all the top coaches in Europe stayed clear of Ronaldo this summer. I don't want him even if he has a 20-goal season - it would be at a great cost to the team set up. Ronaldo may have scored 18 goals last season but United collectively scored much lesser than the season before - despite adding Sancho, Varane and in general having a better team. He just doesn't press and we've watched this with Lukaku last year - cannot take more of it
