I know I sound impatient here but I am slightly concerned by the lack of movement with the defensive signings. Are we waiting to complete the Havertz deal first or what? If it's the former, then it kinda makes things nervy because when the hell are we gonna get that deal done?

Hope it fails, if only to see the meltdown.

We got Werner because we needed a striker and he didn't cost 100 million! Do we genuinely need Havertz? Maybe, maybe not. I don't mind the signing but the overriding reason that is mentioned more than most is that he is a great talent and because he is available, we can't pass up the opportunity to sign him. That is a fair reasoning but on the other hand, it feels like we are only signing him because the opportunity is there and not really because we actually need him. Moreover, we desperately need to strengthen our backline, including the keeper. Spending 100 million or close to it on Havertz will take a large chunk out of our budget. Will we still have enough to strengthen the backline? We haven't looked close to selling the deadwoods yet and I certainly don't want us to end with another season with the same personnel in the backline.

Next season's calendar - PL + Carabao Cup + FA Cup + European competition + International football... Safe to say that rotation is gonna be ******* important next season!

I want to go to the alternate universe where we don't spend 100 million on Havertz and actually use that money to buy defenders!

Have not seen any legit source reporting this Liverpool interest. It came from a dodgy source in Mundo Deportivo, apparently. But just for argument sake, if Rudiger is really so bad, then why does Klopp want him? Mind, am not saying he's world class or anything.

Typical overreaction. Pasalic has done well at Atalanta and fair play to him on that but just because he's done well for them, it doesn't mean he will do well for us. It's easy to forget that he went out on loan to other clubs before finding the right one at Atalanta under Gasperini, who is making them perform beyond expectations. Would he be able to perform in another team or under a different kind of manager? Furthermore, would Pasalic have been content with sitting on the bench and be a squad player for us? (Barkley might but still needs to be binned!) Pasalic might seem like one that got away but this is not another De Bruyne or Salah situation, IMO.

He did play against Leverkusen, albeit for 6 minutes. In any case, he has been slightly in and out of the XI in the last couple of games. Not sure if the last one really made any difference.
