As much as most of us are all paranoid and worry about Mata's future under Mourinho, it's somewhat ridiculous to say that a new signing will just come in and immediately bench our 'Player of the Year' for the past 2 seasons just like that. If anything, Willian needs to come in and prove he deserves a place in the starting XI, just like everybody else.
-
Typical response. Just because he's Mourinho, doesn't mean he can do no wrong. People seem to forget that he has a bit of dodgy record when it comes to transfers, just like at Inter for example. In fact, all managers made dodgy purchases before. So, not sure why we have to immediately trust or believe the purchases Mourinho made is the right one. If we had other manager in charge instead, think even more of us would be questioning his decision to get Willian.

He can play but obviously still doesn't have 100% match fitness yet. Mourinho wanted to give Azpi game time then so that he can improve on his match fitness but of course opted against it for the reason you mentioned there. It's just like we all saw with Mata the other day. Although he wasn't playing his favoured position, we could see that he wasn't fully match fit still and it contributed to his quiet performance against Villa. Mourinho won't throw Azpi into this game of such magnitude when he's not at 100% yet. It's a risk. If anything, he'll play him against Bayern where not so much is at stake for us.

Mourinho on the Super Cup game... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/news/20130823/jose-mourinho-chelsea-interview/
-
Can't see how Mourinho would throw an unfit Azpi straight away in a big game like this at Old Trafford. He's likely to stick with the same back 4 that played the last 2 games and just tweak the midfield and striker selection.
-
Yes, United's midfield is rubbish but their approach play they adopted last season was under Fergie. Moyes may approach this game in a different manner especially with it being his first home game and big game as United's manager. Not knowing how each manager would setup here, both Moyes and Mourinho might look to start cagey-ly to begin with.

Just because Jovetic drops off the other ST in a 4-4-2 for example, it doesn't mean he's actually one. A formation stated is just that, a formation. Teams are always flexible and play differently to what the formation suggests. For instance, Mata played quite close to our ST last season most of the time to create chances for them (and others) and score himself too but would you consider him as a striker? No. He's still a No.10 or CAM playing further forward in the final third. All of this is basically just the role or responsibility. It's not necessarily their primary playing position or one of it. You are only looking at one season when Tevez has been playing that role for many seasons now and still score the goals over a few seasons.
-
For all the talk and prediction of Mourinho going with the 4-2-3-1, it wouldn't be a surprise at all if he actually decides to play 4-3-3 looking to keep it tight, play on the counter, make it a boring game even and snatch a 1-0 win. After all, this is a big BIG away game.
-
Embarrassing it maybe, they performed better than us that season even if we have the better squad on paper. Their struggles since then have shown it's nothing more than a false dawn or one season wonder achievement.
-
If you look at Jovetic's goalscoring record, it's hardly a lot like you would expect from a typical goalscorer/ST like Tevez or Rooney..
-
Not sure if you have actually watched him closely or just going by classification. Like you alluded to there, he's a creator and not a striker, not like Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo or even Tevez. And that's because Tevez is a striker to begin with and one that can score the goals as well as create.
-
Don't think anyone is not enjoying the present and unable to look forward to the future. It's just that we are all frustrated at our striker situation. We let go a ST who can score the goals but kept the ones that couldn't. Like it or not, people are always gonna mention about Sturridge when he score the goals while our current strikeforce still doesn't. And it's probably safe to say that won't be the case for much longer if and/or when we get a top quality ST that bang in the goals and perform for us consistently week in week out.
-
Don't know why people keep on thinking Jovetic is a striker. He's not. He's more of a player that operates out wide on the LW and coming inside or plays behind the ST. Jovetic is not an out-and-out striker like Dzeko, Aguero and Negredo are at City.

Well, you know they always like new fashionable 'toys' to indulge themselves and play with. Those other 'toys' are old already. No longer in trend and it's now disregarded like yesterday's garbage..

Think such news should be treated as rubbish after hearing countless of times about 'Cavani will be a Chelsea player in the next 48 hours' previously and it didn't even happen! Of course, we do look like getting Willian already as opposed to Cavani back then but let's just wait patiently. Will be made official sooner or later anyway. TBF, Rooney has made noise about wanting to leave before already. Even though he has used that as a threat to get a better contract at United, he has hardly ever looked happy there in recent years and always seem to get into 'fights' with Fergie. He has always been on the edge of leaving OT.

Chelsea could become the first team ever to win two Premier League games at Old Trafford in a calendar year (via Telegraph).

Apart from Mata, Azpi also signed for us on this very same day last year..
-
As far as I know, the game will be shown live on NBC Sports Network in US and on Sky Sports in the UK. If they can't watch it, then they can also catch the match's highlights on BBC's Match of the Day after the game. About the match odds, you can check them on Sky Bet here - http://www.skybet.com/football/premier-league.

Willian set to meet new Chelsea team-mates as Blues snatch Tottenham target for £32m

Spurs fan going pissed off that we hijack Willian?! Didn't they themselves at first also hijack him from Liverpool?? Hilarious.
-
Tell me about it. I also can't understand why are we getting Willian. And De Bruyne recently said this about having the trust of Mourinho and his rotation/competition for places.. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8879734/chelseas-kevin-de-bruyne-delighted-to-have-the-faith-of-jose-mourinho
-
I can understand the speculation or assumption that Moses looks likely the one to be loaned out given he's nowhere near the others in terms of quality but De Bruyne? If Mourinho wants to loan him out, he would have probably done so earlier in the summer. And it has already been said by his agent IIRC that De Bruyne will play for us this season because Mourinho wants to keep him.

That source looks dodgy to say the least and hardly contain much substance. Hardly legit..
