Here's one dodgy stat ahead of this game. Jose Mourinho has lost all 6 of his European matches against German oppositions in Germany - vs Werder Bremen(x2), Bayern Munich(x2) & Borussia Dortmund(x2). Those 6 losses suffered by Mourinho came during his time at Chelsea, Inter Milan & Real Madrid. On the other hand, Mourinho will be returning to Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, the ground where he won the CL with Porto in 2004.
Yes but I don't think you can discount the lack of movement or rather non-performances in that first half and yet when we did up the tempo at times, he looked better and so did the team.
Our group as it stands after 2 games: 1. Schalke - 6pts 2. Basel - 3pts 3. Chelsea - 3pts 4. Steaua - 0pts Basel ahead of us on H2H record and we simply cannot afford to lose here. Otherwise, things are gonna get panicky in the last 3 games. And one can only hope Steaua are more competent this time around against Basel. Need them to take points off them to aid our cause a bit.
Positive performance from him today. Arguably not the best of attacking displays from a LB you'll see but he certainly is more enterprising and offers better attacking outlet on the left side than Cole.
And yet he created the 5 chances for us today, the highest alongside Hazard. We practically had little penetration and incisiveness in the attacking third in that first half generally anyway. Only Eto'o was making the offensive runs. The rest was dropping back and driving the attacks forward from deep areas as Cardiff was making it extremely difficult with their parking the bus approach.

I see Pjanic more of 1 of the 3 CMs in a 4-3-3 or the CAM in a 4-2-3-1. Wouldn't exploit his abilities to the fullest if he plays in the pivot. And speaking of Pjanic, we would have probably gotten him 2 years ago had AVB been appointed earlier than he was and we might not have bought Mata in the end.. And yet Napoli arguably created the two best chances in that first half, if not the game. Had Pandev and/or Insigne not messed up those opportunities, the game would have turned out differently. For all of Roma's good play, they didn't really create too many clear cut openings in front of goal.
Kiessling headed the ball into the side netting but went through a hole into the goal and a goal was given! Simply bizarre! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e64cIqth0R4
