The lad scored a hat-trick yesterday against Elche in La Liga. His 2nd goal was great. He now has scored 14 goals, despite being a winger, in 19 league appearances and only Costa and Ronaldo has scored more goals than him this season - 19 and 22 respectively.

Yet more gif from you. You're just a shit @Stingray.

An understatement. And just watch the media giving him more credit for anything good he does at United than they ever did when Mata was still here.

Yes, I am aware that he was playing as a DM then and I wasn't using that as a premise for my point but rather an example of his unpredictability and potential indiscipline in a position. What he did against United in that position doesn't necessarily expose his deficiencies as a DM as we have seen him doing the same kind of thing at CB before. It's just a matter of getting his mindset right as Luiz has had solid and great games in both positions before and even if he were to mess something up at CB, at least with Cahill (despite making his own kind of mistakes), he has the physical and athleticism to mop things up. Terry is obviously still performing but don't think he necessarily has that and I think he would prefer someone solid and dependable at CB with him and not doing something silly.

Well true but as it is, it doesn't detract the point of you trying to be petty and going into the 'ifs' and 'buts' of the goals scored by Eto'o... Disagree and it's not just this season but the past 2 1/2 ever since Luiz arrived at the club. Despite Terry being in good form this season, he still has his own deficiencies and I'm not sure he appreciates a 'wild' defender like Luiz as a partner. It sounds cliche and mind, I'm not attacking Luiz here but we all saw what he did against United recently when he was going around mindlessly putting challenges in leaving the back 4 exposed.

Why did I tell you? Another post in the form of an essay.

Which part of that post made you think I was trolling? Didn't even cross my mind. My point is that he is good enough. He can improve on all those aspects of his game to fit into Mourinho's plan but it just won't be THAT enough for his liking. To use Mourinho's eggs remark in relation to his system, Mata is basically a grade B egg while Hazard, Oscar, Willian etc are the grade A eggs and these eggs are to Jose's liking while the rest, not so much.

Indeed and not to mention, the Luiz-Terry CB partnership is even more dodgy than the Luiz-Cahill one IMO.
-
Happened in 2006 actually but yeah, that was a great goal all around and Lampard has always been an expert in playing a first time ball over the top of opposition's defence. And that game was also brilliant for the way Mourinho changed things around after going 1-0 and a man down and fighting back to thrash West Ham.

On another note, we are edging ever closer to surpassing Torres's thread page total count. Just another 142 pages more to go.

Matic's heatmap against Stoke, if anyone is interested...

http://www.chelseafc.com/live-press-conferences Mourinho's press conference will take place tomorrow at 12.30pm UK time.

That's the funny thing. He's gone from the club but you still seem to be reading what is happening with him and then come here to vent your anger. Thought people in such cases would not bother anymore...
-
He also tweeted this. Looks like we are gonna fight with United for every transfer target...
-
I know. Already feel like a broken record at this point. *sigh* Can't help it I guess if people want to be tribalistic or neanderthals, like Skipper said.
-
It's obvious that you love Torres but if you want to get all petty and analyze ifs and buts in the goals of Eto'o, then that is rather pathetic. One could pretty much do the same with Torres's goals as well...
-
It's up to them. Am guessing somewhere around 25m..

TBF, the editing of the highlights caused that disconnection of the commentary. He was surprised, after all, when that goal went it (and he made the point after that as well).

Translation: Southampton will sell if a club pay them big money...

No. Mata knew he had to improve (he has always said he can still improve), especially after Mourinho made the point about his lack of defending, and he did. You can see in the subsequent games that he tracked back, worked his socks off and tried to adapt to the way Mourinho wanted but the issue was, it was never quite enough for Jose's liking - hence why he was subbed off countless of times - even when he is doing well. Mata simply suffered because he doesn't have that same level of athleticism like Oscar or Willian that Mourinho wants from the players.
-
Think I know what you're trying to say or imply from that response but not 100% sure...
-
You are only looking at a tree and not the forest. Yes, Mourinho has said he wants to keep Mata (he's probably just being diplomatic about it) but it's obvious to all, or at least to many, fans that he only sees Mata as a squad player especially again, when it's clear that he doesn't fit into the system we are playing now. He has worked hard, tried to adapt, tried to fit into the system but it was never going to be enough for Mourinho's liking. Moreover, Jose has pretty much indicated this when he said he wanted to bring Mata on in recent games to change things when it's still 0-0 (only for us to go score shortly after it) and how Mata doesn't want to be playing against the likes of Stoke but teams like United, City etc. It's clear that from what Mourinho and Mata himself said, he wants to be a first team player, he doesn't want to be just a squad player and even if it means leaving for United, then so be it. We all love him and likewise as well but we can't be selfish and think only from a fan's POV and expect Mata to sacrifice his own career to just sit on the bench half of the time here.
