  1. Any striker or player for that matter, would look good if they have lots of space to play and operate with. Seriously, if Torres only performs when he gets space from the opposition, we would be better off just having a poacher like Hernandez, Gomez etc. And let's not even forget that Mourinho was berating Torres in that first half from the touchline yesterday. Clearly wasn't happy at all with what he was doing.
  2. Oscar hasn't scored since we beat Southampton 3-0 on 1st January and IIRC, Hazard has already scored more league goals than him by then.
  3. Meh. I don't trust Torres. Will rather go with someone knowing well what you will get from him as opposed to one that is unpredictable.
  4. That is when he actually decides to and we can't even tell or guarantee when he will do so...
  5. And Eto'o for Torres perhaps. Mourinho seems to play the former at home more often than not.
  6. Would like to think we are better equiped now to deal with them especially with Benteke horribly out of form though I'm not too keen to see Ivanovic going up against Agbonlahor again. He got skinned by Agbonlahor for Benteke's goal back August.
  7. Mourinho on Schurrle... http://www.westlondonsport.com/chelsea/hero-schurrle-still-learning-says-boss?
  8. + Villa are our bogey side it seems and Mourinho has never won at Villa Park in 4 visits - D3 L1.
  9. The pressure has clearly got to them..

  11. Agree. We have done well since that defensive debacle in December and I suppose things like that can happen once in awhile but it was still 2 soft goals to concede. Thankfully, today's one didn't cost us, unlike the one in Istanbul..
  12. Stepped it up in the second half when we really needed him to and he made all the difference then.
  13. If you wanna blame someone for opposition putting lots of pressure on us late on in games, blame Mourinho, not Mikel. His intention in such situation was always to shut up shop and hold what we have and bringing on any defensive player, Mikel or not, will bound to lead to this scenario.
  14. Schurrle's hat-trick against Fulham means he is now our 2nd joint-top league scorer (with Oscar & Eto'o) this season with 6 goals. [Will be quite amazing if we manage to win the title with this average strikeforce that we have]
  15. The run-in... We could open up a 10-point gap on Arsenal and Liverpool if we win our next 2 games before they play because we face Villa on 15th March (Sat) and they play their respective matches on 16th March (Sun). Also, needless to say that Arsenal's next 4 league games are massive and that is not even including the fact that they face Everton in the FA Cup and Bayern in the Champions League before those 4 games. P.S. By the way, that City game against United is one of their 3 games in hand and it's a midweek game. Hence why the other 3 have no games then.
  16. Ooh. Just realized that now you mentioned it. Indeed, only Southampton kept a clean sheet at Craven Cottage in the league this season though Sheffield United also managed to do the same in the FA Cup. Nonetheless, very poor goal to concede from our POV though. 2nd game in 4 days we gave away a cheap goal from a corner. Hope we don't revert to the mess we had back in early December.
  17. Fair points and you're not wrong at all but let's not pretend as if Willian, despite all these defensive responsibilities, have never found himself in the final third for us. When he has for us this season, his end product has mostly been average and/or not consistent enough. This is where he needs to improve on and fans want to see more from him especially when we know he's a quality player.
  18. Tough game this. Spurs have come pretty close to ending their Stamford Bridge jinx in the Premier League in the last 2 seasons and not to mention, they have the best away league record this season. But win this and the psychological advantage could be massive with Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City all not playing next week.
  19. FUN FACT: Chelsea have conceded 4 goals in the last 6 Premier League visits to Craven Cottage and all of the 4 goals came from set pieces.

  23. First half performance was utterly rubbish again. The less said about it, the better. In the second half, we stepped it up especially Hazard. Was everything good we did going forward and thank god, we actually have someone in Schurrle getting on the end of passes and finishing it coolly for all his 3 goals. Was quite poor in the first half but played better in the second and credit to him for his goals. It's been awhile since we last saw any of our players finished clinically and coolly in front of goal. Job well done in the end after the midweek game in Turkey. Four points clear at the top now (thanks Walters!) and we could extend the gap to 7 and 9 points on Arsenal (and maybe Liverpool) and Manchester City respectively if we beat Spurs next weekend as all those 2 (or 3) teams are not playing next weekend due to FA Cup games.
