Incompetent manager? I'm not having that. It wasn't his fault the players acted like pretentious little dickheads. If they shut up and listened to him things would have gone a lot differently. And if he had some speed at the back, as well. Blame Mad Mike Emenalo for that. Mark my words, he will go onto great things in the future. We might not regret letting him go as we gained a Champions League out of it, but I'm sure with the right team he can achieve anything he wants to.

And a lot of it. We don't have the firepower to actually beat the likes of Barcelona through pure attacking play. We also don't have the muscle to sit back and stifle them, either. It's not going to be a successful year for us in the CL.

And the train of cap humiliation goes on, as Angelo Mathews takes another wicket. 5 now they've got between them, and all because I called them shit.- 671 replies

As I said earlier, I fear he won't make it. We have a pretty shit record with young centre backs.

I was hoping an South Asian-Englishman would reply, but that's not too bad an explanation. PC is a very new thing in Australia. It's only been about 35 years since we had wards for Aboriginal's in hospitals clearly marked as the 'Abo Ward' and their sheets had 'Boong use only' written on them.- 671 replies

Thisara Perera is really spitting in my face here. 3 overs, 3 maidens, 3 wickets, 0 runs conceded. Amazing, and all because I panned his ability.- 671 replies

That wouldn't have made you very popular with the frothing at the mouth type, "Fuck off Paki's" BNP'ers, right? On a related note, why is Paki considered such an offensive word in England? Over here we use it very freely. Obviously I would get enormously offended if someone even here came up to me and said "Fuck off home you fucking Paki", but no one I know has ever objected to being introduced by a friend as 'here's a Paki mate of mine'. Disclaimer: If any Pakistani's on this forum are offended I apologise, the word was not used above in an insulting manner.- 671 replies

Thisara has only gone and taken another wicket. He is doing this to spite me. I love you Thisara, and I fully take back all of my disparaging comments about you. Smash my other semi-country of origin!- 671 replies

I took it very much to heart. Would the events that transpired in the cricket thread been a better set for my 5000th post? I quote myself 20 minutes ago in the cricket thread: Next minute Thisara and Mathews take 3 wickets between them, in the process making me look like an enormous cock- 671 replies

All I really have to do is look at the thread where Term X won member of the month. Rumbled. I was hoping you would tell me yourself, but whatever.- 671 replies

I saw the white text even before I saw the quoted post, hence the 'I learn nothing.' If you're going to sneak in white text you need to do a lot, lot better. Something like this, you daft Queenslander. Oh fuck, what a waste of my 4999th post. Now the pressure is really on.- 671 replies

Michael Emenalo. He is solely responsible for every signing we make. Gourlay sits on his fat arse and negotiates sponsorship deals with arms dealers or some such.

Perhaps but a lot of NSWPL teams have fairly largish supports, like Sydney Olympic. The NSWPL is surely good enough to warrant its best teams joining the A-League. Perhaps the Victorian PL as well, though I doubt Queensland, Northern Territory or Western Australia have much to offer in that respect. It would be far better to bump up one of the big 3 NSW clubs than create a new western Sydney expansion club.- 671 replies

Yeah but how many people under the age of 10 would follow the A-League with greater interest than they would European leagues? The NSL was better, as we didn't have one or two clubs per city. The problem with people our age and older is that we have no connection to the A-League. These clubs were founded by and large after we were old enough to pick teams to support of our own, excluding Melbourne and Perth Glory.- 671 replies

It's quite annoying/sad that we don't have any proper rivalries in football here, aside from Marconi Stallions vs. Sydney Olympic and Marconi Stallions vs. APIA Leichhardt. And none of them can get into the A-League. We really need a promotion-relegation system. The bottom placed team at the end of the season should be relegated down to their relevant states' league, and they should be replaced by the winner of a playoff- contested between each of the winners of the state leagues. I can guarantee that if APIA or Marconi can get into the A-League they'd instantly be more popular than Sydney FC. It's a far better way of spreading the game than introducing expansion clubs. It'll also prevent the amount of 'Eurosnobs' (people who couldn't care less about the A-League and support some European team) - which I am unashamedly part of. If my local clubs, Moorebank or Marconi get into the A-League that would change.- 671 replies

Shocking to hear Cahill's left. He's only 31 or so, he has another 2-3 years of top quality performance to give in any team hovering near the CL spots in any European league. He's gone too early to the graveyard that is the MLS.
