I saw this article and thought was interesting and wanted to share it with you guys. I thought it merited it's own thread, unless one exist, about what's next after goal line technology! The Premier League has enthusiastically embraced goal-line technology this season. Never again will there be a goal disallowed - or a phantom goal given - for a ball incorrectly judged to be crossing or not crossing the line.Trouble is, those sorts of decisions are only really relevant a couple of times a season. It's unusual enough for balls to bounce down onto the line as it is, but incredibly rare for those instances to be the difference between winning and losing. The hoopla surrounding the technology is little short of a joke. And an incident from Liverpool's clash with Sunderland on Sunday afternoon only served to highlight why the newly-ushered in technology is woefully short of what is actually required.Liverpool opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Daniel Sturridge headed home from inside the box. The only trouble was, the England striker completely missed the ball with his head and only directed the ball into the net via a deflection off his right elbow. We're not for one second suggesting that Sturridge did it on purpose (though he was pretty shameless in celebrating his "header"). It was more one of those fortunate accidents for the striker, a bit of rub of the green that he got away with, and as he collected his Man of the Match champagne he openly admitted what had happened.Furthermore, as far as we can tell, there's no reason to blame referee or linesman either: from the angles of where people were standing, it's reasonable to conclude that all were unsighted - and the incident happened at such high speed that it seemed to all the world as if a legitimate goal had been scored.Yet as the GIF clip on this page shows, there is no way in the world the goal should have stood. The goal proved critical: Liverpool would later lead 2-0 as Luis Suarez scored soon after, but Sunderland pulled one back to get it to 2-1 and looked in great form thereafter. The Black Cats were bitterly unlucky to concede a third and lose 3-1, with the final goal coming only as the home side were forced to push forward, thus leaving huge gaps at the back.Supposedly stuffy and traditional sports such as rugby, cricket and tennis have adopted proper technology to allow officials to make informed decisions. So why is football still lagging behind? The argument against is that a constant flow of appeals would slow the game down, but these days the technology is so fast that the delay would likely be no more than ten seconds.Fair enough: don't disrupt open play without good reason. Surely, however, it's reasonable to double-check goals that are either scored or disallowed? That could be done as a matter of course and with minimal fuss by the fourth official, and would almost certainly be over before the celebrations (or remonstrations to the referee) had been completed. To all intents and purposes, the double-check via video replay would be invisible to the fans.FIFA wanted to keep the game pure and free of technology for as long as possible. Fair enough, if that's your thing. But now that the genie is out of the bottle, why not implement technology properly and in a manner that is actually useful on a game-by-game basis, not simply a safety net to stop the once-a-season freak occurrence?Until that's done, the much-talked-about technology that has been brought into the game will be an embarrassment merely by virtue of its limitations. As any Sunderland fan will tell you. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/early-doors/sturridge-handball-goal-proves-technology-actually-useful-163408046.html--------------------Thoughts and reaction on what people think the next step is? Is goal line technology just enough or more needs to be done?

hehehe some idiot chanted for Pellegrini!
-
Yeah sorry about that.

It just piss me of when some people think they are better because they go to the stadium and thus their opinions count more. I should be amazed just cause you pay to go? So the fuck what so do I! And when Chelsea is in tour they charge us a whole lot more just to see some horrible pre season match.
-
Well you are the one saying that the people that go to the stadium are different and I don't see much difference. In fact I don't see much difference from the people that go to the stadium then from the same people that go to the stadium when Chelsea is in the USA. It's all a sort of stable atmosphere compare to other clubs fan. By the way I go to the games every time Chelsea comes to the USA and I end up spending close to $1,000 cause I take my family. So don't act like you guys are the only one spending money on tickets!
-
Well I agree with the Brazilian guy. English fans are piss poor when compared to Brazilian or Argentinian. I mean just take a look at this from an Argentinian club and compare it to our atmosphere at the bridge: With the exception of the smoke thing as that's not safe.
-
What has happened to this dude? Was not in the capital one game was he? I think we should have left him in vitesse then having him here on the bench.
-
I agreed with what he said. Some people here are cursing out the ref, but just like Mourinho I thought the ref was really great today. The sending of was more because of Vertonghen simulation. He acted like he got elbow which he did not.
-
I doubt it now that Arsenal are leading in the PL. For them to beat us might make them boost more their confidence. We need to beat them and make them remember that they are still shit!
-
Well now that the euphoria has died down I want to mention that I hope we don't see another Ramires-Mikel Lampard lineup again. It's really woeful! Just stick with the double pivot and use Schurrle, Willian, KDB and such.

Looking at this image one can make a bunch of Meme. Like take that bitch!
-
Mourinho will need to bench him if he continues with his poor performance. Need the mata treatment. :-)
-
Lol another dig at real Madrid and some of the players.
-
Some people are such buzz kills! Let us enjoy this one great time we have with Torres!
-
Torres man of the match for me. Even though mata was great I don't think if it wasn't for torres aggressiveness in the pitch we would have been more into the game. Mourinho now you found your main striker as well how mata is important to the team.
-
Amazing game, purely amazing! Hopefully Mourinho plays him in the Champions League he deserves it. Was not a sending of.
-
We play shit with out him and better with him. If Mourinho cannot see that then he is delusional. Mata just gave you the response in the field that you where wrong. So play him now more!
-
Well Mourinho said what counts is the what you do now and not what you did in the past. So if he was using that remark to judge mata then the same applies to him.
-
I wonder what has happen to Mata? Has he lost his passion and hunger for the game? Look at what happened to Silva? That guy was awesome the first two season and now is lost. Sorry for Mata as he is a good guy but at the moment Oscar is far ahead the pecking order.
-
Well I do remember everyone here and all over the world saying that Mourinho had audition for the United job when Madrid eliminated United in the Champions League. As the saying goes, where there's smoke there's fire. And besides Chelsea had been going through many managers in the past and Mourinho could have come back before. It's interesting he comes after saf retires... But who cares, just like Chelsea was not his first choice so was Mourinho never our first choice. We each settled for second best and that's fine by me.

Well I was reading an article that stated otherwise. How his players complain cause he will put them to play as a small team. Here: The arguments usually centred on the players’ sense that their coach was demeaning them. At three levels. One, because too often against Barcelona he made them play like a little team does against a big team, seeking to stop the rival from playing and hoping to snatch a goal on the break. Two, because beyond counter-attack Mourinho’s Real had no settled system of play, meaning that even the weaker teams they played against figured that ceding possession of the ball to them was the best way to ensure they would not know how to attack. Three, because he seemed to follow a deviously crafted script, either blaming referees for defeats or stoutly defending his methods of play. http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/2/3fcb0618-15aa-11e3-950a-00144feabdc0.html#ixzz2eDYMeIvj

Jose style is mostly known for counter attacking. Anything else is virgin territory for him. So will be interesting to see how we are playing come New Year. But me thinks if Mourinho truly is the one of the best managers ever he should not have problem acquiring a new identity. The counter attacking team has been his philosophy because those are the teams profile he has to work with. Here at Chelsea and in the younger academic structure the profile of the player is that of possession attacking futbol. Won't make sense for Mourinho to go to counter attacking team when his players can do better then that. If anything I think Mourinho would like to mirror SAF way of style playing. Mourinho adored SAF, and his style of attacking futbol was something that looked good and practical. Won many trophies for United, hence I will be incline to say that Mourinho will pursue this style.

Goal from ibra! Guy is class.

Psg vs Mónaco. Should be a good match, I'm watching it! :-)

So you guys think that Rooney might still want out if United start going downhill with Moyes? The past couple of games shows that Rooney still has it in him. Might work great with the system that Mourinho want to put. Let's hope he doesn't sign an extension to his contract and that next year will force the hand of United.
