There is a difference between player's top speed and how 'fast' they are in football. It would not surprise me if the athletic Drogba, when he got to full speed, was very fast. But his acceleration was nowhere near as good as Lukaku's is now IMO, and you very rarely see pace play a part in football over 10-15 yards. Adebayor also has one of the fastest top speeds in the PL I think? Remember reading somewhere he got top in speed tests at Tottenham or Arsenal, but doesn't accelerate well enough to show it on the football pitch. On the other side you see players like, Shaun Maloney for instance who certainly wouldn't win a sprint but has that little bit of acceleration, combined with his balance that means he can often get a yard or two off his marker.

Whoops, my mistake! Principle of the post remains though, like above post says glad to see he's getting a chance.

@JMcEachran20: I'm still not sure where I'm going out on loan. I need to get fit before I do because I've been out for a long time with my ankle.
-
The guy has been lucky to even get called upto Spain last 2 years, still relying on his name and reputation. Euro 2012 Soldado was ignored who got 27 goals in 51 games that Season, and for te Confeds Negredo was ignored and he had a great record of 31 goals in 33 appearances or something like that.
-
I think he'll settle well at Ajax. And if he carries on performing he could very well make the WC with Holland which would be great for him.
-
That comparison is fine until you consider RVP had Theirry Henry in front of him.
-
I'm not sure why Jose has ignored him thus far. Espiecally after giving Ba and Torres chances.
-
Another goal for Bamford
-
What? I already said before that the only incisive things Torres did that match was get punched, dived to win a FK and admittedly a very good reverse pass for Oscar. Other than that he lost the ball far too much and failed to get inside the box when he was needed.
-
from the Mail: The Belgian youngster only touched the ball five times, but found a team mate with each of four passes and the one time he did lose it, he recovered to win it back. Torres, on the other hand, gave the ball away 12 times in 75 minutes and only got it back twice.
-
Sorry for bringing back Sturridge.. On Torres, even first half he wasn't good. His passing was average today and I'm not sure why it's getting praised so much, honestly watch the game back, he lost possession far too many times. I cannot point to or recall anything incisive he did other than getting punched, diving to win the FK and an admittedly very nice reverse pass for Oscar.

Six 'glaring' chances? So if Torres or another strijer was playing, he would have scored 7? Come off it. I do not understand why some fans are so bitter/stubborn when it comes to Sturridge. Refuse to give him credit. Compare his performances, with Torres yesterday. And to the other guy saying Sturridge was given chances against Blackburn and was 'fucking dire'. You are a) taking about the wrong season and it was 45 minutes against Blackburn. At Liverpool and Bolton starting as a CF, he has, what, 20+ league goals in 30 or so appearances? But apparently Torres is better, who has not managed that in the league with 2 and a half years of being here. This is what I mean. 'Sturridge is doing well and showing he's a good player. However I'll stick my head in the sand, say something vague and quite obviously untrue like, "Sturridge is shit and selfish". I like Lukaku too - but Sturridge will create more than him, assist more and Lukaku is far more one footed.

Regardless of how good he thinks he is, and probably no more ambitious and confident than Lukaku for that fact, he's still quite clearly a good player.
-
Boga was back watching the game from the bench second half so hopefully not too bad.
-
Nice goal for him tonight for the U21s against Southampton. The most nonchalant 30 yard screamer I've ever seen. Performance wise he came on as a no.10 for the injured Boga at HT. While I do think he should be starting to play around in different positions, I don't agree as a no.10, just doesn't suit him, looked uncomfortable there. When he was in Cf for the last 15-20 minutes looked better, goal a show for that.
-
During regular season he just plays friendlies and otherwise trains with the team.
-
Looking very isolated up top. I think he'd be best in a fluid, interchanging 4-3-3 similar to Liverpool.
-
Was having a good game too as well. Was very disciplined, rarely lost possession, was winning headers, lots of interceptions, successful tackles. An efficient DM performance. I still think he's in a similar mould to Essien, Vidal and Toure Yaya though in that he 'can' play DM but best box to box. Massive shame about the injury. Stupid tackle that is pointless in a friendly. Sterling did one himself a few minutes later. Really hope it's not serious.

Nice goal from Chalobahinho in Englad U21 training (YouTube): http://t.co/4uE02eYMQa

Someone confirmed half time in the U21 match yesterday that he's not going on loan as we want him to be homegrown. That doesn't stop a domestic loan but I guess Vitesse were more interested.
-
Piazon loan to Vitesse confirmed, or a confirmation seemingly imminent now.
-
He seemed to struggle with any pass that wasn't 5-10 yards and right in front of him against Madrid, at this point it's his athleticism as discipline that's impressing me more.
-
Sorry to keep the Wilshere thing going, but at the moment Arsenal fans aren't that happy with his form, most want Ramsey starting over him for Hull. They say Wilshere doesn't contribute enough defensively and passing isn't good enough. KDB certainly is around Wilshere's level right now, good young players with the potential to be great, although like Slam Dunk said they are different players.

The same league and team we have just bought MVG from? Vitesse are a pretty good team these days, and i think it'd be a good loan for him and his style, espiecally if they get Europa, they're currently in qualifying.
