Oh dear. Here we go with the false hope again. Goal against Nigeria was nice but I couldn't care less that he scored 4 goals against Tahiti. Abel Hernandez also scored 4 goals against Tahiti. Do I see anyone saying we should buy him? It's amazing that another bout of short form that we regularly see from Torres that will inevitably end up in him going back to his usual self makes people pull wool over their eyes. If he was actually good enough to start for Spain, he wouldn't have actually started against Tahiti and would probably have less goals.

I agree. He's not as naturally talented as McEachran/RLC/Chalobah but has really worked hard and improved his game this season. Best player in the reserves for me this past season (even over Boga, Feruz and Aké). I hope he gets as fair a chance as the RLC and Chalobah. Been performing for England U19s too.

Nice to see him have another good performance. Although he usually performs well for Nigeria this is probably the best team he's played, at least in a non-friendly. Haven't seen him at RB but I do like the idea of him as a CB - he provides a contrast to the likes of Kalas, Aké(who's not really seen as a CB anymore anyway), and Christensen who are less physical.

Is Torres designated penalty taker? Or, like at Chelsea, is he not the penalty taker but whenever he feels like he's back he asks to take one and everyone feels obliged to give it to him because it's Torres?

Sturridge was on the verge of ousting Torres but got injured at the wrong times under RDM. Under Benitez he was injured/already on his way to Liverpool from when he came in.

Do you think we need to allocate a slot specifically for a 9th choice defender? I'd prefer a youth player to be used as those roles.

So now we must drop Oscar for Marin? I would love to know why people act like Marin is somehow entitled to be in the team, like we owe him something. Sympathy vote. And then players like Moses and Benayoun get criticised more for playing ahead of him.

Do people still go on about his pre-season? I don't care that he had a half-decent game against Seattle Sounders in a friendly. He needs to perform in actual competitive games. He HAS played with Mata and Hazard against Steaua and did not do anything, and even then, he needs to earn the right to play with them, not just get shoehorned into the side. There must be a reason why Rafa preferred Benayoun to him(who got much more hate/less sympathy despite being better than Marin) and RDM didn't use him in any case. I don't rate Moses that highly but he's clearly far more effective than Marin.

No surprise they score when Josh and Nat have gone off.. But seriously. They need a half-decent manager, even without Ox, Jones, Rodwell, this team should be doing better. However. I think people/media forget that these are the final 8 (7 if you exclude Israel) out of a 52 team qualifying stage. The likes of France and Belgium did not even make the top 8. I think England have already done well just to get there.

Chalobah off now. Better game for him, he and Josh did well today I thought.

Josh goes off. As said at HT I thought he played pretty well, seemed to work harder in defensive duties than normal.

I think he's done well so far. Done some decent defensive work, his passing is sharp and accurate.

Assisted the winning goal a few days ago for Burkina Faso

Chalobah captained our youth cup run from start to finish last year, the season we won. He captained the England U17s in 2010 to the trophy. Chalobah made his debut for us at 15 and did well, in a friendly. He then made the bench for that 4-3 Newcastle game at 15. And then Cchalobah goes on to Watford and actually has a good loan, excellent debut season. Part of his failure has a lot to with his lack of cojones and the slag he's dating but the club hardly ever put him in the best position to succeed in all fairness. The only difference is Josh played for the first-team and did well while Chalobah has gone on loan and done well. McEachran has almost regressed since then, hence why Chalobah is starting over the same guy for U21s. And I would bet that Chalobah goes on to become a very good player.

If this was true why did he play 40 games for Watford this season? We're chatting BS? Jesus. People say that some overhype him, well it can certainly happen both ways with what you're doing.

Exactly. He's been average today, still kept possession well though. a) nowhere near a 'tragic' performance and as always? He's just had an excellent season for Watford.

Think you already know I disagree. And he had been one of England's better players this game. Not that that's much, still only a 6/10.

Poor half from England. Chalobah was decent but grew out the game towards the end. England need some sort of inspiration. The defence is pretty terrible too.
