helsea youth product Sam Hutchinson will remain on loan at Sheffield Wednesday until 9 April. The two clubs have agreed to an extension for the 24-year-old defender, who initially joined for a month. He has made three starts and one substitute appearances so far and spent the first half of the season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland.

This is pretty vague and a poor way of gauging how good a player is. Kalas has made more appearances than Kalas or Stones by far and not quite sure when Jon Flanagan was referred to as a wonder kid. Kalas was starting for Vitesse at age 19, and was called up to the Czech national team at age 19 too. He's always been rated highly and see no reason why he's any less talented than other young defenders getting meaningful appearances at clubs on the same level as us.

Or they just want the best for their careers? Is Mata also a 'boy trapped in a man's body'? hardly doubt he(Kalas) wants to be starting week in week out over Terry. But certainly some meaningful appearances (especially after Jose blocked loans in January and said in summer that he would be a part of this squad) would not be undue. It is, in essence, a wasted year of development.

Certainly wasn't awful, linked up well with his team-mates, tested the 'keeper twice, came the closest to opening something up for England 1st half when he attacked their CB, tracked back and scored a goal. I agree he's better as a strike partner but he's still got the quality on the ball and movement off it to be a threat as a lone striker. And don't really but that poor defences excuse. Does it only apply to Sturridge or every player who's scoring goals right now?

Scored a penalty and captained tonight for England U19s

Jose did say he wanted him in our squad next year. With Essien already gone and Mikel and Lampard extremely likely to leave in the next 18 months I do think there's a good chance he can make it here. If he doesn't it'll definitely be our loss

The second half was better, England creating more chances. But Chalobah's just been forced off with injury, doesn't look serious, he walked off. Probably precautionary

Turns out Chalobah started for the U21s tonight, playing at CB. Original starting XIs had him on the bench. Just went 1-0 up with a Redmond goal

Started two games in a row now for Middlesborough and getting more positive tweets..is their original starting CB still suspended? Mind you it was a suspension to Yobo that got him starting for Nigeria I think.

Started again, apparently had a shot that hit both posts before getting cleared..he does have a relatively good goal record for a young DM/CM.

That shot dipped so much, great technique from him for second goal.

There's been some ambiguity about Torres' goals since last season as about three of the goals he got in 12/13 were either his shot taking a deflection and going in or him getting in the way of a shot and it going in.

Not to mention a nice assist

Just watched the whole match now - I thought he had a very good game, reminded me of his Watford days. Made tackles, interceptions, blocks, and initiates attacks with his quick, first touch passing in a simialr way to Matic does. Created a chance right at the end with a lovely reverse pass for Adomah which he really should have scored. Starting to show his real ability again.

Grew into the game, showed his physical strengths. Would like to see more composure on the ball though..hopefully this will come with game time, as he looks fine with the ball for Nigeria.
