People defended Torres soo heavily because he always gave 100% despite playing like a plumber for Gillingham. Nobody is giving up on Morata yet but the scars run deep from past failings of the number 9 spot. I think people are more scared of history repeating itself.

Then we went and got him and now I am trying to convince myself that he will come good. It is early days and I will only judge after half or a full season depending on how bad or good it gets. Massive overractions as usual here. I was at the game and although we walked around at times, it felt as if we were in control for the majority of the game. Who cares what others say or think about our players. There is no rush to see Morata when we have Bats playing well at this point. Thr ideal situation is for Morata to start but If Morata does start and he doesn't play well then the pressure could mount. Start him against Burnley.

I think he has got to start with Bats up top after his pre-season display. Keep Morata on the bench until we either need him to make an impact or we have the game wrapped up. There is no need to put Morata into a pressured situation unnecessarily.

I definitely agree with your criticism of the PL. I think to have a realistic chance of winning the PL and the CL, you need to find the right blend of physicality and technicality within the squad. It's the philosophy in which we apply to our football that is holding us back in Europe, starting from grass roots level up. It will be interesting to see how Pep gets on in the PL now he has the squad he desired.
