Lacazette would be perfect here IMO. Martial as well. Need a silky smooth operator with the ball at his feet. I think Michy to an extent could prove to offer something. Really would have liked to see him at least try here, but Giroud gives you consistency, and Morata is the big market buy so he never really had a shot to get a go here I guess.

His best game for us, probably because he had the most to do. Actually kept us in the game a few times due to his timely saves. That one point had a lot to do with him.

Did I miss something? Giroud was the invisible one all game, and Morata at least made something happen. Not his fault Willian didn't square an easy ball for a tap in. Funnily enough, yours isn't the only post blaming Morata for this somehow. lol..

If he scores 3 tonight, he is supposed to according to all on here. If he doesn't score at all but has this mystic "Giroud" game where he doesn't score, he is even more of a failure. Only Giroud can not score and it be okay. Morata has to score. And even when he scores, Giroud is better.

Hilarious to me how under the microscope he is with some on here. Let him keep. He is doing more than a reasonable job. Can't blame him outright for a single goal. That is the job of a keeper. To be at a consistent level, and occasionally win you games. We haven't even been close to being in that tight a situation. The main thing is, he isn't losing us games.

Thought we were fairly sloppy for a large chunk of the game, but picked up in the second half. Interesting to see the way the forum reacts. Luiz really didn't do much wrong, and his "silly challenge" was a nothing moment. Nothing in it at all, but people look to him as a scapegoat so will criticise anything they can. Also funny that Giroud is being praised, yet had Morata put in that performance it would have been a massive negative reaction. Funny that. Pedro was immense today, but just couldn't finish. Hazard was clearly good but took too many touches in the middle of the park for me. Needs to work harder to win the ball back as well and push up. Barkley always seems like he is one touch away from something good but either botches it or never gets there. Very weird. I thought Alonso was dreadful today, as opposed to last week where he was our best player.

Completely agree with all of this. Does anyone think Alonso will be here for the long term? I'm hoping the chatter and praise is to hype him and eventually move him onto Real Madrid for big money if possible. Great job by Sarri to have him playing this well, but obviously he has severe limitations given where he plays. If we as fans can see it even while he is scoring and playing well, surely one of the best managers in the world can see it too? He does get forward, he does score goals, but he breaks up a lot of the play and slows us down significantly. He can't react as quickly when linking up as Kova, Jorg and Hazard on his side. Surely we'd be better off with a more skilled, slicker, and faster LB? Won't score as many goals, but will increase the pace and that will result in more chances for others. And I'll repeat for the third time in this thread... I'm all for keeping him as well; but he needs to play striker.

I really hope we don't go for him. He isn't anything special. Plenty of options that'd be similar or cheaper, and at the same time better.

He did make one mistake last night, and it was passing back to Azpi I believe with Rondon chasing from the same direction. Only time I was like WTF, but nothing came of it, so yeah.

If he does end up going over there next season for good we should try and get Kessie off them. He looks immense.

He made a mistake, but I feel he has been solid in his role. AC made a bunch of mistakes last season and we all wanted to let him play through it. I get Luiz is a finished product and he probably won't get better, but it was a case of switching off against a team that posed no threat until that moment.

Thought he was below par today in the first half but then grew into it and had a good second half. Think he should change his game around. Carry the ball more in the second half against tired legs, but move the ball quicker with passes in the first. Felt he held onto the ball too long and slowed us down at times with his twists and turns.

This wouldn't even be a talking point if this was a long time keeper of ours. Not many keepers are saving that ball. Well, none of them are saving it 10/10 times. It is a tough ball to deal with, and especially given the fact he thought Luiz had it covered. It happens. This forum will continue to over analyse for the sake of it.
