When he really figures out to throw his size around in the air it's going to be impressive. I remember when Drogba saw that he almost never had to jump in the middle of the field again, he was able to just hold the big CB's off at take it off of his knee and chest. SOO frustrating to deal with as a defender. Hopefully we can see a similar technique developed!

The versatility we will have when we play with MVG and Oscar at the same time, plus one other CM as you suggested, is fantastic!
-
It's a positive situation no matter what. No pressure for us to win. A big plus if we do. If not, we get another chance to gauge where we are at in our building process.
-
His defensive work has been impressive lately.
-
If we have a big season we can tell all other teams to f#k off in terms of stealing our quality and we can tell all those great talents to come to Stamford Bridge.
-
^ also will be happy when he's gone, to be honest. Just happy when we don't have to talk about either. Long live Lukaku.

Maybe I'm wrong. I just remember Sturridge killing the flow of our game so many times. There's no arguing his goals per game last year compared to Torres. And you can laugh all you want about hard working Torres and his sulking but I feel like next to Sturridge's attitude he looks like a model squad player.
-
I'll take a hard working Torres over that selfish prick Sturridge any day.

I posted previously about the 3-4 in season goals we could look at. Someone conveniently even provided footage. Then there was Marcelo. Then the Scotland goal. This is a problem for him. I think what we really should look at is whether or not Mourinho can fix it. I will keep my eyes peeled and be the first to praise his new defending. If Luiz can change, anyone can. Except... Maybe not Suarez. He's just an awful human being. On the outside. That is all.

I do think Mata can continue to be a Talisman for us. But I love that Mourinho has hinted that he wants even more out of Mata. That he will push MatA to the limits of his potential. I think Mata is humble but passionate enough to meet these demands!
-
I just think if Mourinho has him in training for one year it could be better than a year of playing time. His attention to detail could make that crucial mental shift to finally set Josh's game straight.
-
I'm so afraid he will be this season's Marin.
-
Can we talk about how screwed we are if he DOES leave?

A visual comparison of Lukaku and Torres vs. Real Madrid

We're still waiting for Drogba to step back on the pitch. -
Uhhh, woah. So no more FSC/ESPN coverage? To the OP: notice that you need not fear too much in terms of coverage. To round things out, find yourself the local Footballer's pub (at least in NY I know there are plenty) and they use their satellite dish to get you all of those other games you miss on TV! But it's rare that a decent-profile game has no network playing it. If you're a Shef Wed. fan, it can be a bit tricky

These first two were exactly the ones I was combining into one goal in my head. You're like, an internet wizard.

This guy is awesome for us. His football intelligence is fantastic for his age and his tenacity injects life into our midfield. My namesake is a lot silkier for sure but Van Ginkel's variety in his skill set is so nice to have. Love this kid.
-
He is on the brink, for me, of becoming a consistent world class player. I think it's all in his head; he has all of the tools.
-
The thing is some of us have been pointing out his habit of backing off against strong attackers and us being appropriately punished. Didn't he do this same thing with Adebayor or Toure recently? both? So many times...
-
What's our Club's deal with his age? Basically, we have to sign him for multiple years otherwise do this one year contract for old people bullshit? I just hope he doesn't hurt his knee like Romeu (remember him?).
-
My favorite part about all of this is that (for the most part) even if the team takes a dip in form during the season, I just feel there will be less panic amongst us fans and the players; which will only cause the team to rebound faster. In a word: care-free

Played football for 20 years of my life, just retired. I'm a mathematician.

I'm just so excited to watch every minute of Chelsea Football this coming season :cfc:
