I started following Chelsea seriously after Zola left. I just started watching very long highlight clips from him. Unbeleivable. It looks like he should have been a Ballon d'Or candidate. What am I missing?

Very simple: Bring him into practice with the first team squad and tell him "Until August, your are not allowed to pass the ball backwards or square".

Here's why you're "centralized" Mata theory is just wrong: Imagine we play a 4-4-2 with two CM back from the two outside wingers, and then drop one forward behind the other (i.e. a 4-2-3-1) then MATA IS A SECOND FORWARD CONTRIBUTING DIRECTLY TO 50+ goals. No, he doesn't need to improve his defending.

Can you explain what Villa seemed mad about? (I didn't see the whole play) EDIT: I just got to see a bit more... I would imagine he should be mad at Torres if anyone for not simply playing it over to the left instead of lifting the ball cheekily over the keeper.

Diving aside, after watching him in the Conf Cup against stronger defenses, I'm starting to feel like he really has the ability to become a big player (as opposed to someone who was a really big fish in a really small, proverbially, pond).

If we think Cahill is Terry's replacement and that Mata will be sold, then we beleive we are in horrible horrible shape.

I don't understand how this is our first priority this transfer season. We have three of him already; and they're all better.

It seems sort of obvious to me: one more year on loan. The following season, let Courtois play all of the cup games and Cech play all of the Premier League games. If you look at our game count, it's fairly close to them each getting a full season this way. I love Cech and have huge respect for him. But AT THIS POINT, I think it's more important to keep Courtois.

1. JT can still give a lot to this club even if he isn't a starter and doesn't wear the armband (I don't see where Jose actually stated that JT will be captain). 2. I think that they really should focus on his physical abilities this summer, he needs no improvement elsewhere. 3. About the armband: I don't think Terry should play every game (unless his mobility makes a shocking turnaround as per 2.), and so I don't think he should wear the band. But I don't think goalkeepers should wear armband because they physically are limited in their interaction with the ref. so I think it will be interesting who wears the armband for most of the games next season.

In that video against the USA team, he didn't look to sharp. Mind you that left back he was playing against isn't even a proper left back.

The ridiculousness... If you think we need to sell Luiz (sure if he wants to go then good riddance) then we need to sell Cahill, Ba, Torres, sign a striker, sign one or two CM, and then sign some replacement backs. This isn't goin to happen. Our back four and attacking midfielders are the least of our worries for next season.

How many more years does Cech have in him?! I say it's Mata, Luiz, and IvaOscarHazardRami I can't comment on the OP comparisons since I think they were illl founded in a "grass is always greener" sort of way.
