  1. I've been inactive for a while, but thought I'd express my happiness over signing him... I don't know why I like him, but I just do. He seems to be a passionate and tough player who gives his all in every game... Yes, Modric is more creative, but he's also weaker physically and probably worse defensively.. Plus I don't think Modric's shot is as good as his. Totally different players, but Chelsea would benefit from both.. This time we opted for Meireles because Sperms are wankers, I'm fine with it. You can't always get what you want. And the fact that Meireles came for little money and without hassle will take pressure off him. Modric like most other big money and big hassle signings would probably have struggled for a while because of the pressure to perform miracles.
  2. I don't think we were ever in for him tbh, the club knows when City are interested the prices will sky rocket and there is no point overpaying for an inconsistent player. It was smart to go in for Mata instead, City weren't interested and he snubbed other 2 interested parties, so we could negotiate without disruption.
  3. What a legend already See, Levy.. that's called taking care of your players, taking into consideration their wishes.
  4. I saw that video on youtube, what a character this guy is
  5. Would probably cost less than £20m or close to it... would act as a cover for the LB and LWF positions, or AVB will surprise and play Mata in the whole. Whatever happens, I will trust AVB's judgement on this one. Would probably shove Bertrand and PVA aside, which would be a pity... but also Malouda and Kalou, which is a plus
  6. You're reading too much into it I doubt there is any conspiracy
  7. Hopefully not another case of Borini, Stoch, Di Santo and Rajkovic But shows the intent of the club once more, signing for the future... Although he is 20 and cost only €2m, I'm a bit skeptical that a really promising 20yo would cost so little.
  8. "Frank Lampard is a monster of a footballer to play alongside and the prospect of that is incredible." Reportedly he talked to AVB, so that basically means that Lampard will be a regular this season.
  9. Mata would have to have a really.... I mean HUMONGOUSLY low self-esteem, if he had chosen to wreck his career going from Valencia to fucking Tittyham Hotsperms.. Levy would have made him sign a 10 year contract and retire with them on gunpoint alongside an already suicidal Modric.
  10. He is an exciting player alright... Can't wait to see him in action again. He has scored against Man United, that makes him a legend already
  11. Talking about getting ahead of time  I think Josh is being heavily overestimated among Chelsea fans lol
  12. they've been floating around here, keep your eyes open in relevant topics
  13. Silva... the spanish trio of Torres, Mata and Silva would destroy and piss on everybody. Modric comes close second. Rooney would also be class, but he's a cunt.
  14. Well, we won't know if Josh would have done better, will we? AVB might have shown faith in Lamps in hope that he would gain confidence and perform. We don't know what's going on in the training ground or in AVB's head. Modric might be the more permanent replacement for Lampard, because it would be too soon for Josh to start playing every game at 18 I believe.. we don't know yet.
  15. We have had so many managers coming in and out and everyone doing their own assessment on the squad. If we had some stability, there might have been breakthroughs already... but now every manager opts to start safely so not to disappoint fans and his bosses, and they don't know the academy through and through... with teams like Arsenal and ManU they have a manager they trust in and they have had time to work out their plans and bring them to life in time. With Barca the same, their manager was promoted from their youth team I believe. If we don't have 7 new managers by 2016 we might see a change in our youth policy sooner. I don't believe AVB feels safe yet, how could you on one of the most unstable jobs in world football? If he gets the backing of the board, he might feel encouraged to take more risks... we don't know YET if he's planning to play it safe in his first season.. if he was to experiment and not win any titles, he can have a boot up his ass as quickly as Carlo. Since Roman's arrival we have never put much emphasis on bringing up our own players, but rather patch the team by splashing the cash. This summer's signings hint some change in club's policy, and hopefully it is to show faith in AVB's long-term appointment.
  16. things work differently in barca... how many thought bringing in Kalou would block Stoch? okay maybe back then there were no expectations on him, but it still turned out we have Kalou minus Stoch
  17. The problem is Lampard himself said that he has no trouble with it until he's permitted to make runs into the box. I don't think you can deny him his trademark move, which is arriving into the box at the right time.
  18. His assist stats are immense... I think we can forget about Malouda's 3,500 mile shots at defenders and expect decent crosses and passes from now on
  19. I agree. I think Lampard has the record on his name with 100 (?) consecutive games, if not more.. then he had 1 game break (I think) and continued his run. We got more out of him than we could have asked, and he still performed on the highest level for years... He never got a break. The team was so used to having him dictate the play that without him we were somewhat clueless and chaotic - that mental factor could still be around today, not sure. At 33 after a major injury it is only natural for his form to dip considerably... you could say it was his breaking point after being overused. There is a thing called "professional burnout" (or smth), that's when your fatigue sets in, and it applies to every profession in the world. I don't blame Lampard in anything, it's not his fault he never got a deserved break and he got constantly abused by outside fans ... Around the world he's overlooked but in Chelsea he'll always be a legend and if this season for him turns out to be average, then I won't blame him, but the manager who refuses to acknowledge that he's given all he's got and still waits for miracles... No doubt he still has a lot to offer, and maybe he will blow us away and bag in another 20... who knows If that were to really happen, I will call him a superhuman.
