Holy kaka, I'm member nr. 41.. I didn't realize I'm so old here, I feel new. The growth of the forum has seemed seamless, but of course I was on a long hiatus at one point.

We played like shit against Benfica imo, a carbon copy performance could just as well end up with us losing if they decide to show up. Either way, I think we are no hopes against Barca.. we used to match them when our old guard was at their peaks, now they are shadows.. I can see the likes of Iniesta and Messi dribbling past the likes of Meireles and Lampard with ease.

My predictions are usually wrong so when it really matters I predict a loss and we win, yaay! but other than that, no.

They can all leave as far as I'm concerned, but they won't. Only a few from that list will. If I had to choose who stays on that list, they would be Mikel, Essien and Meireles. Kalouda and Drogba are the ones who should have left long ago already and those 3 are the most likely to depart. I sensed that the recent rise in form would brainwash some of the light-headed, that's exactly what they want... I'm staying firm on my belief that the (old) deadwood should take a hike regardless of the form they will finish the season. Somebody mentioned Frank. Lampard is also a liability, I can't recognize him anymore, there's nothing left of his former glory except for a few poach goals and I don't blame him. He misplaces the easiest passes and gets lost too often, he no longer dictates the midfield. I would keep him only if he accepts a paycut and a bench role. He's also a dangerous presence in the dressing room if he's unhappy.

When we were 2-0 up, there was still a lot of time left.. All I could think of was that we were facing Aston Villa of all teams and that someone once said that 2-0 is the most dangerous score. I was right, because soon Villa managed to level the game and I was thinking "here we go again", but well fucking done to Ivanovic and Torres, one scored the lead goal and the other put it far beyond their reach. Brilliant finish to the game.

It's because he usually scores the last goal in 4-0 games after coming on as a sub. It's amazing how one tap-in screws with people's minds. The antichrist of Chelsea FC suddenly turns into an unsung hero. But I must admit, he didn't disappoint against Benfica, he played slightly above his standards. But his standard is something I don't want to see in Chelsea, or 80% of the squad for that matter.

Why should there be 2 different topics for a player? What would be the reason to open a wishlist thread if we're being linked? If such topics do emerge, they can easily be merged with existing transfer topics. It could also be made clear in rules that posting a wishlist thread if an official thread exists, is prohibited.

Imo the unreliable source rule has always been somewhat childish and unneeded (rarely practiced anyway). I would also like to propose that all speculative/wishful transfers to be merged into the "official wishlist thread" and that only threads with reported links to be allowed opened separately (otherwise we get too many "he's good in FM/he's good in youtube, we should sign him" type of topics). E: Just read Jaimin's post. The wishlist sub-forum isn't a bad idea either.

Nope. Spurs failing and us succeeding at the end is more realistic to me than beating Barcelona/Milan and whoever would come after that. I'm not celebrating Benfica just yet either, we didn't play well and a similar performance at home could just as well end up with Benfica edging it. The league situation could change drastically very quickly, it would take only 2 rounds for us to overtake them, but everything must go our way starting now. I believe the fight for 4th place will go down to the wire, possibly the last game. Semi-finals will be our peak in CL if we beat Benfica.

Luiz is my player of the season so far. It's a close call between him and Mata, but imo he's been more consistent than Mata.
