OUT Jose Bosingwa or Paulo Ferreira - either one of these need to leave. It is obvious that both are out of favour with Ancelotti preferring to play a centre-back in their position. Ferreira is a loyal servant and still a competent defender whilst Bosingwa doesn't seem to understand the purpose of man-marking. I say we keep Paulo. Henrique Hilario - again another faithful servant, but Hilario's best days are behind him. A good shot-stopper, but he does not command his area and his dealing with crosses is very poor. Ross Turnbull - I like Ross as a goalkeeper. He's been unfortunate because his harshest criticism has come from a number of poor performances in the Reserves, whereas he has done nothing wrong in his seven first-team appearances. He needs to move on or go on loan for a season to a Championship team where he will be first choice for the good of his career. IN Davide Santon/ Gregory van der Wiel - we need a right-back, because as good as Ivanovic is, as soon as he is up against someone with pace like Bale or Nani, he quite frankly might as well just go and lie down off the pitch. He is a centre back and we need a genuine replacement. Santon would be my call. I think the lad has the potential to be brilliant. Alexis Sanchez - a genuine winger? HOLY SHIT YES PLEASE. We have to sign this kid before Real Madrid or Man City do, frankly. Romelu Lukaku or Neymar -should either Drogba or Anelka leave, we will need to bring in another striker. Granted we have Torres, Sturridge, Kalou and either Drogba or Anelka (I can't see both being allowed to leave this summer), but if Drogba stays it will not be for too long and Anelka is looking to play his twilight years in the MLS. A young striker is therefore a must, and personally I'd prefer Lukaku as his physical style suits Chelsea and the Premier League better. Plus I think Neymar is a despicable cunt. Alan Dzageov/ Sergio Canales/ Marek Hamsik/ alternate playmaker - Lampard is getting no younger, Joe Cole and Deco have long-since left and Kakuta probably won't get a proper look in on first team football for another season. Another box-to-box midfielder, ie. Ballack is needed, or a deep-lying playmaker. Dzagoev seems the most likely target, but Canales and Hamsik are two quality young footballers. Both will be expensive acquisitions. Second choice goalkeeper - remember the days when we didn't sweat over Cech's fitness, because we had Carlo Cudicini? Fact of the matter is we need a new goalkeeper. Granted we have some quality in the Reserves, but someone with proven EPL/UCL experience would not go amiss. I'd say probably another £70-80 million?

Davide Santon, in my view, is a better prospect and will be cheaper than van der Wiel... but that's a debate for elsewhere. Gutted about Alex and Ramires, but with Mikel and Luiz in fine form we should be okay. We have plenty of cover at CB and CDM.

Drogba was ill. That was definitely clear - I read somewhere he lost something like 18 pounds as well, and it was obvious he had lost a lot of weight and muscle/bulk from the games he was playing. Drogba's game depends largely on his physicality and because he simply didn't have that weight to throw around he was looking only a shadow of the player we all know and love. However you simply can never fault Drogba's effort and commitment. Even when I was getting quite impatient with him you could tell his under-par performances weren't because of laziness or a lack of interest, but because he literally had nothing to give. This is where I blame Ancelotti. Drogba was so obviously ill, when playing a 4-3-3 what was to stop him from playing Anelka as the lone striker with two from Malouda/Kalou/Zhirkov/Sturridge out wide? The guy simply should not have been playing and because his immunity was only made worse it meant it took longer for him to recover. However, with three goals in the last five games I think it's fair to say Didier is getting back towards a semblance of form and hopefully next season - if he stays - he can return to the 20-goal-a-season man we all love and know.

LDN, you've just consigned him to another goalless game In all honesty I don't care whether he scores or not, because we'll see the real Torres next term. This is his 'bedding in' period and after a full pre-season we'll start to see him slowly-but-surely come into his own.

That's a good question. I think that the game has developed since I've been born, at least - obviously I can't speak for the 50s/60s/70s/80s, but I think the addition of newer technologies in the sport (boots and balls and all) and improved training techniques has seen players become more refined athletes. That being said, I think this has meant the sport is now much more of a 'flair' game, and you see a lot more fancy tricks and so on these days as opposed to even ten years ago, when flair players were a commodity as opposed to being commonplace. I think that has meant the sport is a little less competitive in a team vs team sense, but at the same time the fact teams are a lot more even thanks to the financial side of the sports means there is still a level of competitiveness in a league, for instance.
