I thought Costa was great when he came on. Played with the right mix of physicality and aggression. Held the ball up really well and linked up nicely with Hazard in particular. Excellent defensive role as well, he pressed well and made some superb headed clearances from corners. Yes, he should have buried that header, most definitely - but his sheer presence and the runs he makes just occupies defenders. He can have an effect on the game without touching the ball. Made a real nuisance of himself and Spurs couldn't cope with him. A much better performance from him compared to recent ones; his best showing for us since the United FA Cup game at the Bridge.

I did that predictor thing and reckon we'll finish 2 points ahead of them. Fancy them dropping points against United and Leicester.
-
End of an era. I swear, if Cahill is named permanent captain, I'm going to support Wigan.
-
Better than usual.
-
Will he fuck, United will bend over and let Kane go in dry.
-
Harsh. He wouldn't start over either of Funes Mori or Jagielka.
-
He's had ten good games to every bad game he's had this season - but even so, yesterday was just shocking. He set the tone for a frantic team performance with how uncomfortable he looked early on. People say Herrera's throughball for Rashford was the pass of the season - it wasn't. One simple, straight ball took out our entire defence, and Luiz was in a different post code to Rashford by the time he recognised the danger. Poor all-round.
-
FFS this is a fucking semi-final of a competition we haven't won for five years, be realistic. This is a massive game.
-
He'd have saved Rashford's shot. Begovic is horrifically bad 1v1 or when closing down an angle. Goes to ground very, very early.
-
Massive psychological statement can be made here. Let's be having you.
-
Quit that panicking! Spurs won't pick up maximum points. Even if Spurs pick up maximum points, I thoroughly expect us to beat those teams we're due to play, with the exception of Everton. That one might be a tricky one; I'd take a draw now if you offered it to me. But we'll more than likely win our home games and we're good enough to overcome WBA away from home. The time to panic is if we're second place. I'd rather be leading than chasing with just 18 points left to play for.

I stand corrected. Either way, still hope Mourinho chokes. Surprised he didn't kneeslide down the touchline the smug bastard. Enjoy 5th.
-
Ironically that was under his management. Hope the sour bastard chokes on his wine.
-
Looking at the fixtures, we are still massive favourites. Next week is a massive opportunity to inflict serious psychological damage. We better fucking turn up as we've been shit in general against the top sides this season.
-
You know we're shit when we miss Marcos Alonso...

From my player ratings article: Costa – 3 – a waste of space up front. That mega-money offer from China suddenly looks enticing. More interested in getting into fights than playing football, which is probably a good thing as he looks like a punch-drunk boxer on ice. He can barely string a simple ten-yard pass, and whenever he’s moving with the ball it is a miracle if he doesn’t fall over his own feet. To think he was the outstanding player of the Premier League before Christmas, the Diego Costa of the past month looks like a poor impression of Mateja Kezman. At least Kezman worked for the cause. Pathetic.
-
Nah, never really been a fan of people trying to offer counter-arguments... especially when there isn't one, it pains me to say. I love Diego, but he is utter garbage at the moment. He's been pants the last couple of months and sadly his slump in form is alarmingly getting gradually worse. His performance last weekend was laughable... he looked drunk at the best of times. His turn for the first goal was excellent, but everything else he tried to do suggested he was under the influence of some pretty heavy narcotics. Useless. Today was even greater damning evidence. I genuinely hope he gets injured or sent off, because he is wasting otherwise usable oxygen.
-
Well, I was wrong. Mourinho absolutely schooled Conte tactically today.
-
Utterly pathetic. We were similarly bad away at Spurs. We are easy to play against. We just about have enough points to get over the line, but we need major investment if we want to compete next season. Let's not over-reacted - this was a bad performance, but United deserve credit. We'll move on - just means the margins are now even narrower and we can't really afford to drop anything at all.
-
Totally agreed. Love the bloke but if he allows the team to blow this, he should be fired into the sea. I don't think it'll happen, I actually have a great deal of confidence in the team as most of them know what it takes to win the title having led for such a long time. I don't think Antonio would let them slip, but it would be worse than United's collapse in 2012 if it did happen.
-
Passionate. Classy. Under-stated. No arrogance or pretence. He's the polar opposite of Mourinho the Lemon-Sucker. Sour old git.
-
BREXIT BREXIT BREXIT Totally agree though, I said the same in another post on Friday. He's the weak link in our defence and is only "taking part" because he's the token English player. Careless and clumsy, useless on the ball. People think a couple of worldie-blocks and the odd penalty box poacher's goal make him a good centre-back. He's bench quality at best. (Watch him score a hat-trick and send Zlatan back to Sweden now I've said this).
-
I hope you're right. I'd take a draw. Win our home games and draw our away games and there's nothing Crayon-Eater Kane and co can do about it.
-
Absolute thundercunts, they channel their inner Atletico Madrid against us and then play like Aston Villa against the Spuds, hope they get a 300-point point deduction at the start of next season.
