Going forward there are signs we could hurt teams but we need a top GK, CB partnership, LW & CF. To have a chance.

People are getting too caught up in this Penders being our number 1 next season/good GK signing blocking Penders pathway bollocks. If he’s good enough he’ll break into the team either way, like Courtois did with Petr here and Petr did with Carlo here. We still have to be competitive until he’s ready and that wont happen without a good reliable GK. And we certainly wont be competing for meaningful trophies without one. Same with CBs & CFs. Maignan was there in the summer, wanted to come and we fucked about be it over price or Penders long term plan. You reap what you sow. It has been a problematic position since Courtois left so those working at the club, they deserve to get the blame for letting it continue to be one. And then Rosenoir gets all he deserves also making & picking Jorgensen as his #1, encouraging him to play out like that, in the same way Maresca did with Sanchez last season. There is a simple solution, limit the GKs touching the ball as often or playing risky passes. But they’d rather live and die by their football philosophy. Its absolute stupidity/stubbornness which will shoot him in the foot again and again. The bigger picture is though that any sort of plans hinging on the chance that a group of say 15-20 young players develop as expected/better than expected, without real quality or leaders around them, is suicidal squad building and planning. If Penders had a bad spell for instance, who do we put in goal, Sanchez? Jorgensen? Some 19 year old kid from Uzbekistan who is apparently the next Manuel Neuer according to Ben Robert’s or Paul Winstanleys stupid data? No thanks. This whole blocking pathways nonsense is ultimately why we missed out on players like Maignan, Semenyo, Guehi, Donnarumma etc. Regardless of closeness or likelihood of securing the deals, the club will never push the boat out and make an exceptional offer for ready made players. Instead they’ll say Sarr or Paez or Penders or whoever else they’ve got on the books at either here or Strasbourg are the long term solution. Its a cop out. And why we will just get rolled over by the big boys every time.

Tie done. Brilliant goal by PSG. We are so poor defensively
-
Here comes the red card no? 🤣
-
Bad subs by Rosenoir too taking off Joao Pedro & Palmer.
-
Gusto & James half hearted again. Standing off. Just get out there. Basics.
-
Red card incoming🤣
-
Worst of it is, Rosenoir encourages it much more than Maresca did. Or encourages much more risky passes. Been a big change since he’s come in, with the GKs distribution.
-
What is it with utter shit GKs trying to be too smart?
-
Tbf he’s been shunted on the left so we can shoehorn Cole on the right and keep Enzo in the team as a 10. Clear hes not an out and out left winger, hes better on the right. Same with Reece, not sure what difference hes made playing in MF tonight considering Vitinha, Joao Neves pretty much run the show in that area of the pitch.
-
They love banging on about this one off CWC game under a different manager. I hope that wasn’t Rosenoirs team talk 🤣
-
Going to be goals all over the place. Both teams so bad defensively. Barcola abysmal there ball watching.
-
James & Gusto all over the shop there. First of many I would expect
-
He won’t last past 18 months in all fairness, let be honest. And if he does either the standards will have dropped even lower or the cunts running the club somehow get a grip and give him some serious top players. But we all know what its likely to be. But it doesn’t matter who the manager is really now. The rot trickles down from those at the top.
-
Wondering which elements of our play were very good as Rosenoir put it ….
-
More questions than answers again. Can’t wait for Will from the Inbetweeners to say we played amazing as per usual
-
Joao Pedro 4-2
-
Hanging on here. Embarrassing. Game management is non existent.
-
Estevao also yes should’ve been in that post. Still Hato has a bit of convincing to do. And Quenda when he gets here we will see. 75% at least are not doing/haven’t shown enough.
-
What do you expect though? How anyone could have optimism around the majority of our signings the past 2 summers is beyond me. Joao Pedro & Pedro Neto are the exceptions.
-
Bit iffy that. Contact is minimal but the speed he comes in at is what gets him sent off there. No excuses now though. Been an utter shiter of a game though. Sanchez, Delap & Tosin should be first 3 out the door this summer. Garnacho as well, such a braindead footballer.
-
Still cannot believe people thought Tosin was a smart signing initially 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
-
I would say that £100m is the price for these players now though. And probably a fee we will struggle to pay. Would hate to see what a genuine world class attacking player would cost, depending on age, could be talking £150-175m.

Really? We’ve done 12 deals in the last calendar year. Wheres the investigation or transfer ban? You do it right & at fair market value, they cannot do anything. If we are really interested in any Straosborg player/coach we would get it done… like Sarr, Emegha, Rosenoir. Doesn’t mean we want to sign every player Strasbourg have or that we will get them cheap. We have first refusal effectively. In the case of Diarra, who knows what happened but we already had Caicedo, Fernandez, Lavia, Santos in those positions. Suppose it depends on the players but would say we have a huge upper hand. Countless players signed like Sarr, Emegha, Panichelli, Barco, I’d imagine they were identified & signed by BlueCo for Strasbourg to move through the multi club model to come here at some stage. Would you not agree?

Is Penders ready? Courtois played around 200 games in total for Genk & Atletico before we took him back and made him number 1. He probably was ready the season or two before from when he actually did return right enough but we had Cech. He also won trophies at Atletico and was an incredibly vital part of that team. Unfortunately we don’t have a top GK so if Penders isn’t ready, then we are in the same place again. I do think they’ll bring him back as opposed to buy a GK because it isn’t the logical thing to do (standard Clownlake). Still don’t know if using Courtois as a comparison is exactly fair or correct. Joao Pedro has done well, I like his all round game and he is scoring goals (hattrick tonight) but if you can get a top CF in, we have to, to make that leap and push to be more than just scrapping for top 4. He isn’t so good that you don’t need to have another top player in that position. He is good but he shouldn’t impede the club looking at other top attacking options. Or going for a lower quality option to be a back up. Not convinced that CB pairing is really that good either, they played earlier in the season and we still weren’t exactly solid. It is better than what see now but again, would strengthen there if we want to be looking at pushing on. Someone who is a top player to partner & mentor Colwill would be great. For the team and for his development. Wes doesn’t convince me entirely and his injury record is poor. LW is abysmal yeah, Gittens, Garnacho, Mudryk…. all shite. If we can sort those positions with some actual top class players, I guarantee we will be a much better side. Ok finding them is difficult but title winning teams aren’t a squad full of 18-24 year olds.
