Actually the Mikel sub. was a crucial one because we were losing the midfield battle every time. Putting in Mikel allowed us to keep the ball after winning it which eventually led to us getting the third goal and killing off the game. But I totally agree with you about the importance of that win especially emotionally and psychologically for the players, not to mention shutting every one up about how AVB is going to get sacked. By the words of the great AVB "Today we gave everyone a slap in the face."
For me, Franz Beckenbauer is in a class of his own. No one comes close. From the rest of the defenders in history, Nesta is my favorite. Has some unbelievable moments of brilliance, especially in the CL. True, but he sometimes played as a sweeper.
Great to see the site back up. But not as good as seeing that team performance yesterday. Drogba was a beast. Mata and Sturridge were great on the wings (though the latter needs to learn to f*cking pass the ball!). Luiz had his best performance in a blue shirt imo, and big Pete was class.
