LOOOL. Technically, physically and in terms of tempo, this was the best game in the EPL this season. Both teams put in an incredible performance, imo.

Once he beat Cliche with the first 3-4 yards, Gael was never going to catch him. His performance yesterday reminded me in so many ways of some of his best performances for Liverpool.

He was very good going forward and providing width yesterday (Up until the crosses, unfortunately) but defensively I thought he wasn't as solid as usual. He made 3-4 mistakes at the back. But to be fair to him, the movement of City players, especially down that left flank is better than anything he's had to deal with this season.

Jose on "Extra time at the Bridge" about this match: "I don't play youngsters but I don't play the ones who played today".

Apart from Luiz (I don't think Eto'o will start, I think it will be Ba) none of those players have yet played any major role with first team and have been squad players at best, hence they are our B team. At least they are the B team from our game against City yesterday. It's doesn't belittle them as players, it just shows how much quality depth we've had this season.

No he wasn't great, but he wasn't poor either. It was a decent game overall from him with some very good moments in the first half.

People in the match thread saying he had a bad game watched a different game than me. I thought he excellent in the first half and crucial for us creating so many chances.

Yeah, not his best game despite the good goal. His work-rate was impeccable as ever, though.

Very, very good in the first half, excellent actually. But in the second when City started to get the upper hand, he completely vanished. The Mikel sub was vital for us regaining our balance and not losing the game. Credit to Jose for (again) making the right subs.

I agree, but Petr usually comes up with some insane save at critical moments in the game like that which is why I would expect him to save that. He came up with an insane save later though at 1-1 when he save Silva's shot that was heading for the bottom corner with his foot. That was sublime.

What does that have to do with anything? The running, tackles and all the physical work that Rami did, especially in the first half, was unreal and beyond the physical ability of most players. That's why I said he was not human.

It was a very hard ball to deal with because it was moving quit a lot and at a very high pace. I'd expect Petr to save it, but I forgive him for not.
