That's a HUGE deal financially for Atletico. If you compare our income to theirs, Mandzukic would be a bigger financial commitment to them than Torres is to us! A lot of pressure on his shoulders.
-
He's 17, why in the world would you think he'd have any shot at the first team any time soon!
-
But it is because of this potential that he is likely to get a lot better if he stays away from injuries and gets game-time. Even if then he does not end up useful for the first team, we can get a lot more out of his sale. If it were down to me, I'd give him an extension (yes, his contract ends Jun 2015) and loan him out in La Liga or EPL. Last season was even worse luck if you followed what happened to him. He was still regaining match fitness at the start of the season, started getting some time off the bench in the EL, earned a start in the league, didn't play bad but his team decided to capitulate and lose 5-1, so it was a couple of months before he got another chance, off the bench in the EL, then started in the EL, then earned starts in the league, became a starter for them, won 2 consecutive MOTM awards, then got injured, manager got replaced during that time, the new manager found his new team quickly and Oriol never got another look in.

Of course Hamas aren't secular! I said that the first to resist were mostly the secular parties. For example, in Lebanon it was the communist party and the SSNP, in Palestine it was Fateh and the "Public Front" (that doesn't translate too well from Arabic lol). But since the 80s, the region has an increasing religious prominence due to many reasons, including the global religious trend worldwide, the failure of the secular parties, Israel itself (religious extremism creates opposing religious extremism), the Islamic revolution in Iran, the planing and funding by the UK, the US then KSA and most recently Qatar of extremists groups (not talking about funding just for weapons, but funding for the Sheikhs to spread this ideology)...etc. But, NO, the struggle is no way about religion. I can tell you from experience, in Lebanon, the people who died fighting Israel are from all religions and sects. Yes, of course there are propaganda from both sides. The pictures are absolutely disgraceful and disgusting. Even the ones from this attack. To shown the corpse of a child to get "western support" is highly unethical, insulting to the victim and his family, and dehumanizing for all of us. Not to mention that it ends up hurting the Palestinian cause. But that doesn't stop the fact that there are children being killed but the Israeli air-strikes. More than 30 of the 75 martyrs (number has risen to 81, now) are women and children, including 4 infants. The main targets for the airstrikes has been civilian homes. But, like everything in this 'struggle', the power of the propaganda is completely lob-sided. What do the Palestinians have? Some twitter and Facebook accounts and a few websites where they post pictures that, as you pointed out, anyone with some knowledge of the region and half a brain cell can tell are mostly from a previous time or from Syria. They certainly don't have the backing of the Arabic media. Right now, you'll hear more about this in Western media outlets than in Arabic ones which just mention the latest 'score' of martyrs like it's some basketball match being reported on. On the other side, the Israelis have considerable power over the major media sources in the world. Decades and decades of biased coverage of the facts to all who live in Europe and US and most of the world for that matter. The message is that Israelis are people just like you. Palestinians are barbaric animals that want to destroy your scared places in Jerusalem. If you really know the history of Palestine and Israel, then great, but that really makes one of the minorities. Not even we here in Lebanon are taught that history in schools. I don't think it is taught anywhere in the Arab world. You need genuine interest and deep research to know how everything came to be as it is now.

The propaganda has always been their strongest weapon. How many people in the west know the history of Israel and Palestine? Most think that Hamas is the same as Al Qaeda and that the resistance are only some religious extremists when in fact, throughout most of the Arab world, the secular parties were the first to resist and the right wing religious parties were the traitors.

Tip for everyone here: Click here ---> http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/18403-chelsea-season-review-201314 Click on the link inside. Download the season review. Enjoy how amazing Oscar was in the first half of the season and notice how good he can be. Relax and hope he can have a similar form this season, especially that he will have more quality around him (namely, the striker) and hopefully a more free role.

You know it turns me on! :eyebrows:

Jai, what did we say about trying to be funny at 4am?

He's an attacking midfielder. He was always part of the loan report last season because it was believed that we had already signed him or at least reached an agreement for him. He's very regularly on the score sheet.

That's a brilliant article. Hits the nail on the head on several key points: "In order for colonialism and occupation to be successful, previous inhabitants of a region must be dehumanized, labeled savages, and finally, their very existence denied. Once this paradigm has been established, any and all acts of horror can be inflicted upon them without recourse. Thus, the stories of the oppressed become irrelevant." "Zionism has convinced many Jews that they are preserving themselves. The common thought is that if the "savage" Palestinians stop resisting, stop shooting rockets, stop fighting Israel's inevitable domination, there can be peace."

You don't get anywhere by discussing anything on a forum, it's kind of a feature of forums! The discussion has been respectful and mostly rational (except that guy who was trying to turn it into something about religion). If it's boring, don't read it

You can agree to disagree about how good a shirt looks, or how good a football player is, but you certainly can't agree to disagree about a war that you are part of!

You really can't put him in the same category as Kakuta and Marin! He's been incredible unlucky with his injury and then with his loan. But his talent and potential has always showed. Even last season, before Valencia changed manager, he had a couple of MOTM performances for them. That said, I don't think his chances of making it here are high. He's just not what we're looking for in central midfield.
-
His English is very good. He seems very nice.

The line between awesome and scary is very thin!

And how do you think they ended up with 50 year-old riffles and locally made rockets? No one attacks a country, let alone one of the most armed countries in the world, with these weapons. These are defense weapons. These weapons are a reaction, not the action. Yes, this last conflict was started by the Palestinians, which I had already said in this thread is inexcusable and awful, but they have always been the ones defending (and losing) their land, their homes, their families, there mere existence.

No, I'm saying it is VERY clear to anyone who sees that who is the oppressor between the two sides and who is terrorizing who. In fact, just by looking at the types of weapons, any sane person can deduce who the criminals are and who are the people trying to defend what little remains from their basic rights for life with what little they have. I've said before, I do not wish to discuss this with you, so don't quote me again, please.

Better, but still miles behind our homepage

The change of tone from the previous page to this one is hilarious!

Tell me about it. Even I felt like crying seeing him at the final whistle.
-
Tell me he didn't actually say that in public! EDIT: Never mind, I found it. Just....
-
It is absolutely hilarious and tragic at the same time that the media still treats this 'struggle' as a fair fight as if it is a war between two equally equipped sides. This is the effect of Palestinian resistance rocket: And this is an Israeli army airstrike: Context and perspective are everything.
