  1. Or you could go buy a video game or phone or something if you feel like you need a new toy... In football reality, you don't fix what's not broken (unless you're Real Madrid) just because you're bored, because that can often undermine the chemistry of your team which ends up underachieving (again, check Real Madrid).
  2. But that's the thing, for all of those young players, they only have potential and with everyone of them there is a real chance that even if they stayed at their original clubs they won't actually achieve that potential, in which case they can only dream throughout their careers of the kind of sums they'd make here in a few years at youth level. They'd also enter a 'bracket' of wages that even if they failed here they'd still make a lot more than they would had they failed elsewhere. That's why I find it very hard to feel sorry for those youth players as if they are victims in anyway.
  3. Tbf, that looks less like a fight and more like they're about to start ball room dancing...
  4. The fee and wages that were originally quoted were 'big money'. In fact, he'd have been the third most expensive player on our books behind only Costa and Hazard with a 5m loan fee and 200k/wk. Makes a lot more sense at 140K/wk.
  5. Brilliant! But I'd recommend turning on auto-correct!
  6. My main issue with this transfer was the reported wages, now that it seems it is a lot less than first said, it makes more sense. Though I still think we should have gone for someone less risky and I honestly still doubt he will be outstanding here. But let's give him all the support he needs to see if he will.
  7. Yeah, looks like City unless Madrid decide to hijack.
  8. I agree he has sometimes looked out of place there, but I think that can be rectified with a bit more experience there. On the other hand, he simply doesn't have the physical abilities to play our central midfield's pressing nor does he have the outstanding technical and passing abilities (like Fabregas for example) to warrant being exempted a bit from his defensive duties there. The way I see it is that he has a chance of making it here if he adjusts better to the LB position which he has everything technically and physically to excel in, while he has almost no chance to make it here in central midfield because he simply lacks the height and physical strength needed.
  9. Debatable but he would absolutely definitely get considerable more playing time at any other EPL team.
  10. To be fair, with the form Cahill was in, Tal Ben Haim would have looked the next Nesta in comparison..
  11. What in the world makes you doubt that?! Remy would be a nailed on starter for almost any other EPL team.
  12. Playing him in midfield is a waste of time and a waste of his career because he is incredibly unlikely to be a midfielder for Chelsea. His future is at LB, imo.
  13. A lot of people. Practically everyone when Cahill was benched for a few games for Zouma in the winter.
  14. Yeah, but we said that about Zouma last season.
  15. A player is considered homegrown by the FA if he spent at least 3 years between the age of 15 and 21 in an English or Welsh club.
  16. John Stones is much lower risk than Sterling.
  17. Well the solution is very simple: The talents should stop coming to Chelsea for money and possible glory. You're very quick to throw the moral responsibility on the clubs but forget that the players come here more than willingly and they do so out of greed. Simple as, really.
  18. Problem is that is the exact opposite 'philosophy' for youth development in England. It would be difficult to change it, imo.
  19. His second half of the season was better than the first but it was no where near great, apart from the Copa America. In fact, he was regularly losing a starting place for Pereyra who was better than him throughout the season. Even in the climax of Juve's season, the CL final, he was probably their worst player and should have been sent off. But like I said, if he can get back to his best, even his Copa America form, then 40m is a steal. But I genuinely doubt he would with Pep's Bayern.
  20. The fact that Chile won the Copa America probably doubled his fee. He had a terrible season with Juve. Still 40m is not at all a lot if they can get him back to his brilliant best, which I honestly doubt Pep would.
  21. No, I really honestly wouldn't. I've been in similar situations when I played basketball for my uni and a local club, and when you're really of the team, you don't think about for a second. You support your team and teammates wholeheartedly. He certainly has the talent, which means we should be much tougher to make sure that he also has the mentality and doesn't throw all the talent away.
  22. Regardless, that's how it would have come across. No, he doesn't 'have every right' to demand first team football, and neither do any of those youth players. None of them has actually done or accomplished anything in football. They all have EVERYTHING to prove. I have absolutely no idea what Musonda is like personally but what I've seen from him on social media is frankly not very encouraging, especially that he didn't learn the first time and acted childishly again by making those retweets today.
  23. Pep is sooo going to ruin him. Shame.
  24. That mentality does not belong in a team sport like football. Now put yourself in Brown's shoes and think how Musonda's posts would have made him feel and what tension that would have created between the two in the dressing room. Any youngster with the proper mentality to make it at the top level deals with the situation very simply: Encourage your friend who has been given the chance, try to be happy for him, work harder in training to get your own chance. Anything else means you're not ready to be anywhere near the first team.
  25. Ability alone is never enough. Josh McEachran is the biggest proof of that. If he doesn't get his attitude sorted out he won't amount to anything here or anywhere else.
