could be a very good week if we get a result tonite, with man u and man city struggling there qualifying could go to the end of group and it would be great to see us qualify early, weve all seen in previous seasons the benefit in the following league games if your top players get a rest, could be a big factor in us clawing those 3 points back. Really pleased in luiz and terry starting. My opinion is they need games together and become the partnership if were gonna challenge for the league. Luiz has the ability to become the best if we can get some consistency and fine tune him. Think lampard and bosingwa starting over merieles and ivanovic as right back is a bit of a gamble. Id have defended first. But im a painter and AVB is the best young manager goin so ill trust him. COME ON CHELS!!!!!

id personally be more inclined to use bosingwa against poorer teams or at home and against the top sides when we need to get the defending right play ivanovic with luiz partnering terry. For 1 i think luiz is a really positive player who can make a difference in tight games and seems to have a knack of making things happen. Althouh i think bosingwa did well against ashley young i dont particulary think he defended that well in the back line. Hes not a natural defender who wants to put himself on the line and thats needed more so against top side. I think your better off having your ball player in the centre as most top sides only play 1 upfront. For people saying that he was better then ashley cole against man utd id say it was very close, i think ash didnt have the best game but that tackle on hernandez albeit being a bit dangerous is a great example of a defending full back who is in the right position to make a challenge where bosingwa wdnt have been there imo to put hernandexz under pressure and he might have scored.

i for one didnt think lampard should have come on for sturridge and with him missing another pen its easy to start moaning about him again but think the amount of work he put in deserves alot of credit. down to 10 men and never really shown down to running like his. Might be getting past it but stil a legend

why is torres even mentioned when he aint on pitch. Lukaku is 18 making is home debut for the team he supports, torres is a 27 yr old world cup winner. Dont quite get all the criticism of players on here tonight.

How do you think he played 2nd half? Id say better. Agree he seems a bit slow getting forward but chance he just wants to defend right first and not have an ash cole v man utd type game. I know fulham arent man utd but bertrand aint ashley cole either.

dont agree with lukaku comments. Hes raw but seemsd to be growing with every touch IMO

same old cfc. Take off the young academy player, keep the signings getting valuable playin time. Poor bringing lampard on now, ball retention is important when down to 10 and josh is better at that then lampard.

main problem in my eyes is as with the leverkusen game were accomodating malouda. romeu and josh can both create and were getting caught on break as in man utd game. why not play mikel? malouda cannot play cm.

liverpool had a good crop in the 90s building on the clubs success in 70s/80s, man utd had a good lot in 2000s building on 90s succes, give chelsea ten years building on our most succesful era and wel probably have more.

My problem with putting kids into carling cup ties is when we do it with wholesale changes. Dont think the likes of josh, mceachran can really be judge if he plays with untried/same level players. Dont think it really benefits them. I personally wouldnt play lukaku but try sturridge as the tip of anelka and malouda/kalou. Give mata a half behind with mcheacran and mikel, bertrand lb luiz and alex cb ferriera rb and then hopefully give romeu, clifford and lukaku a run at some point depending on how games goin. I will be really deflated if we give lukaku and romeu games and not sum of the english kids who have contributed so much to chelseas youth and reserves triumphs of previous seasons. Think it must be really deflating for kids who have come properly throuh the system to be overlooked by young signings. A young players development isnt always just about football, mentally it must get so frustrating to not get a chance and then the mental side of football creeps in and affects your play.Like they start believing there not good enough. I was at terrys debut and would never of thouht hed of gone on aswel as he did, and im sure when you look at ppl like chris smalling at man utd, 6 months ago looked a liability but with getting games is getting better and growing as a footballer. i disagree with it if only to say that i dont think united were particulary poor. The game was played at a ridiculous pace for about an hour, Ramires and anderson especially in the middle were just non stop. I think we all get a bit defense minded sometimes and say it could of been 5 all therefore defending was poor. United giving the ball away 2 much? possibly but they were being given no time or space to play for large parts. Resulted to long crossfield passes that did work for them. Shows how much they continuity hepls there game, always seem to know where an outlet is. I thouht in hindsight we shoudl of played luiz and mikel for lampard and bosingwa with ivanovic goin right back. I dont blame avb thouh as i said before the game i felt it came 2 3 weeks to soon for chelsea and avb still doesnt know his best team. Alot of positives thouh, mainly in torres actually causing alot of problems in consecutive games. Everyone will take a different view but thats mine.

I think he just needs to learn our game a bit. He has so much talent as a centre back so why not just let him learn the game there. He played 12 times i think for us last season, won player of the month in that time too. Made a mistake against man utd in the first few minutes but so what thats football and as a team we were all over the place at that stage anyway. Bit too soon to start saying hes a liability IMO. He reads the game well and makes hard things look easy, is vital for our distrubution and makes things happen when were struggling like the other night and man utd last season. He might make a mistake against man utd sunday but thats life and this seasons main aim is rebuilding and changing styles.

i think it might have come 2 or 3 weeks too soon but it aint impossible to think we can win. Personally id play iva right back over bosingwa, defensively more solid, and i think id prefer sturridge out wide instead of malouda or anelka. Think hel ask more questions. II think a draw would be a good result thouh given that i dont think AVB knows his best team yet which is understandable. Id go cech, iva, terry, luiz, cole, merieles, lampard ramires sturridge mata torres. drogba if fit.

I hope it was the reason behind torres improvement and even anelka's enthusiasm when he came on. People/players start believing and confidence can spread just like our negativity spread last season.

i think if were chasing a game we can certainly be alot more purposeful. Mata could drop in middle and drift with anelka, sturridge wide and torres/drogba up top. Ramires can do 2 mens running then mikel/merieles sitting. Squads looking better for sure IMO
