  1. Press conferences are for the coach and the media to interact with one another and exchange views and opinions. If the media can question and criticize the coach, the coach has every right to question and criticize the media. After all its his job he's defending not yours....
  2. Exactly..can't we just be happy for the fact that at any time at least one of them will perform?
  3. I'm not against signing backup (why would anyone?)...I just feel that midfield/winger is a greater priority....
  4. No more strikers, please! Right now we need to re-build our midfield and make it good enough so that any of our strikers can just walk into a one-on-one with the keepers...
  5. We might "replace" Drogba eventually, but will that need to be a like-for-like replacement? No. The man is one of a kind, and to think we'll get a carbon copy of him to play in his stead will only tarnish our memories of him playing for the club. Even Lukaku, who people often use for comparisons, has quite humbly admitted that his game is nothing like (and right now nowhere near) Drogba's... So., I wouldn't worry about whether we'll have someone like Drogba up front in the future...Any in-form forward will do...The same applies to Lampard and Terry as well... What I DO hope is that we can get players who have BIG personalities and character like our three stalwarts here..that's what keeps this Chelsea FC team going I feel...
  6. This may sound funny, but I can't help but feel that Torres has only helped Didier after his arrival..when he arrived, he inspired Drogba to up his game... and this season he was involved in persuading Mata to join us and even that is working in Didier's favour. In Jan last season I was hoping we would sign a supporting forward player to aid Drogba and our team, but instead we went and got Torres for different reasons. Ironically enough, he has ended up performing in a very good supporting role!
  7. Its funny how that maybe one or two seasons back, Mancini would be looking at how best he could pack his midfield and defense together so that he could shut us out.... How times have changed....
  8. Don't won't Marseille either... for obvious reasons....
  9. And the two articles about Fabregas as well...they make it so obvious, these people...
  10. The last two pages were full of posts regarding that trash...
  11. I said in an earlier post, that the chanting had little to do with Drogba..there were songs sung for him (albeit less loud) when he was playing... The last time I remember someone hurting (or at leas tried to) the players' ego was Scolari..I don't see how he motivated them any better than Carlo... The Alex-Anelka one..
  12. Articles related to the "incident" came out nearly a week ago..those were bearable and were at least neutral..even the Sun did their bit back then, and now recently switched to articles about Drogba's contract... now they get all hot and bothered and churn this out..its hard to see this as plain co-incidence...
  13. I don't believe half of what was said in that article...It's probably bordering on the truth, and it looks to have twisted things to just to grab attention using things like the insider source,etc)... You may accept the facts in the article or not, but wouldn't you agree the timing of the publication is a little "convenient" ?
  14. Damn right we already knew about it...So, why print this all of a sudden?
  15. I don't know how "close" he can get,but the man has been spewing nonsense about the team since the start of this season....his articles are almost always filled with negativity about the club
  16. And here' the SuN'S next attempt : Barca on scent of Romeu return
  17. Loooool!!!!!... That "article" is soooo hilarious...... Rob "BEASTLY" has a tradition of writing crap about Chelsea...He's obviously upset about last night's results in the CL...Heck the Sun even failed to put up match reports even more than 4 hours after the results came out!! This just shows how pathetic, desperate and slimy they are....fabricating an articles about negativity in the Chelsea dressing room...Just look at the timing!! As if Drogba will get fired up after a confrontation like that...
  18. I hope Stamford Bridge will one day have a real Drogba banner
  19. Too STRONG a performance by one man really...
  20. It was what I noticed in the Newcastle game as well...clean sheet, Drogba header, Kalou the impact sub...AVB showing he has few tricks to grind out needed results just like ol' Mourinho
  21. I think the new deal won't be discussed anytime soon to be honest, let alone the terms and conditions...The manager and (Drogba himself) will have to wait and see if he can perform consistently from here on out... I agree he will change his playing style to expend minimum energy, like in the Newcastle and Wolves games, but that doesn't make him less motivated or less committed to the cause IMO...
  22. What happened after he signed a 2 yr deal in 2009? Drogba will try to do his best if he feels wanted...However, as age catches up with him, and his energy levels fall, he will need more support. Right now that support is Sturridge and more importantly Mata..The little man and the big man seem to combine very well... I knew back in Jan this year, that what the team really needed was a good support player for Drogba/Anelka rather than a new CF...I hope Torres continues to try hard with the limited chances he's going to get though,..
