You think it’s frustrating for us, try being a Liverpool or Newcastle fan. I don’t think either of them have signed a single player and their fans are going mad about it. Liverpool fans in particular are livid. I don’t think City or Arse have brought anyone in either, though their fans are of course more calm and understanding since they’re in such a good spot with their squads. At least we’ve signed 4 players that will be big contributors. And just the returning injured players make me excited personally. The only really frustrating thing for me about our club is how we have suddenly decided that we won’t even TRY to target someone from the truly top bracket anymore if there’s a special one available. When just in 2024 alone we were fine spending 100m twice. I can understand them wanting to be more responsible with the spending going forward but I’d love to see us supplement all these younger or cheaper signings with just 1 “money is no object for this one special player” signing.

Yeah, I skimmed over the word teen. My bad. But again, perhaps our club think Anselmino can be our Yoro. You have to admit that the £50-60m United are spending on an 18 year old CB is bonkers, right? I feel much safer spending £15m on Anselmino.

I think this season will 100% be a final audition of sorts for Mudryk and Madueke. If they don’t drastically improve I think they’re gone and the new kids replace them. Sterling will surely go as well if he is subpar again. What halogens if they’re all good this season? Oof. Idk how we accommodate everyone then.

If we would’ve signed yet another 18 year old talent when we’ve already bought about 50 of them over the last couple of years I’d be annoyed. I know Yoro is super highly rated but loads of our fans mad or upset that we didn’t go for him is kinda weird. We can’t sign every wonder kid. We’ve already got about 4-5 in the pipeline like Estevão & Paez who are much more exciting to me than Yoro.

He’s an 18 year old kid who hasn’t kicked a ball in the PL yet and he’s already way better than all of our CB’s… 🙄🙄🙄 Feels like we should maybe wait a couple of months at least to see what he looks like with a massive step up from Lille and Ligue 1 to the biggest club in the toughest league.

Don’t know why any of us would be bothered about Yoro going to United other than the usual annoyance at a potentially good player going to a rival. We’ve got a dozen super young talents like him as it is and the last thing we needed was another one for this upcoming season. From the club’s POV they’ll probably be thinking Anselmino will be every bit as good as Yoro next year for a third the price.

How do you play De Ligt, Yoro, and Lisandro in the same team? Ten Hag doesn’t play with a back 3, does he?

You’d like to think the price we paid wouldn’t come into it but let’s not be naive. If he cost £5m he’d be out the door by the end of this week. Taking a massive loss on a £100m player in the financial position we’re in would be catastrophic.

Not saying it should be swept under the rug. He should 100% be punished. I just don’t think his punishment should be “never play for Chelsea again.” But I’ll wait to see his response and how sincere he is.

A sincere apology and a suspension from the club should be enough. You can’t kill someone’s career for a (very, very stupid) celebration. He’s now got to live with fans booing him in every stadium, his teammates never trusting him fully again, and everyone thinking he’s a massive racist for the rest of his career. All of that plus whatever discipline from the club and put a line under it. Selling someone who we just payed over £100m for and who was set to be a key player is surely impossible for the club.

I don’t know which is dumber, the team singing the racist, super offensive song or Enzo filming it, putting it live on IG, and not thinking about the reaction it would get. How can you be that fucking stupid?! I honestly don’t know what he can do other than getting up in front of the whole squad and profusely apologize and ask that they please allow him to earn their support back. Any talk of selling him is complete madness.

I feel like for the right player we could go big again. Especially if there are still some big outgoings like Lukaku, Kepa, Gallagher, Trev, Broja. The bigger challenges for us I think are 1) convincing a top player to choose us over the multiple other big clubs that are after them and 2) hoping that they don’t ask for wages of over £120-150k a week. The transfer fees I don’t think are the problem.

It is a bit weird that any and all rumors and links with Trev, Broja, etc leaving have all died. There are so many teams that are dying for solid young CB’s and someone of Broja’s profile so I figured they’d be relatively quick, easy sales for us. Looks like it could be another mad scramble right near the deadline where we’re desperately looking for loan moves for 20 of our unwanted/unneeded players.

They’ll probably offer to pay in installments over 3 years or something. Whether Athletic accept that or not is the question. I get the impression that they’re desperate for him as a way of showing they can get back to competing with Real Madrid. He’s their answer to Mbappe. They want a pair of world class wide players like Madrid have. Mbappe & Vini vs Yamal & Williams. They’ll further fuck themselves over for a short term boost.

The Barca president has publicly come out and said they have the money for Nico Williams. The president of La Liga has said the same. I think it’s absolutely classless and insane for them (especially the La Liga boss) to come out and say these things about a player from another club and one who just signed a new contract, btw. But it’s clear they’re going to go for him. His super close friendship with Yamal and the allure of Barca even in their current state is far too enticing for a Spanish player to turn down. Don’t know why our name keeps getting brought up. There’s no chance he’d choose us over them.

Play central where? If we play with 3 in midfield like everyone expects I think KDH or Carney play as that advanced midfielder in front of Enzo & Caicedo. Or have Lavia at #6 with Enzo & Caicedo as the two #8’s. I’ve always just assumed it would be Nkunku left, Palmer right, Nico Jackson/new striker up top, and then a combo of whichever 3 CM’s that suits each opponent.

Looks like all of the concrete links with us are now exhausted. There’s no one now that you can point to and say “this guy could very well be our next signing.”

Noticed a couple of players who haven’t reported back yet. Haven’t seen pics of Ugochukwu or Marc Guiu yet.

Doubt my opinion will change tomorrow when we actually see the kit being worn by the players but from the leaked photos this is genuinely the worst Chelsea kit ever. Astounding that this got the thumbs up from the club.

Gallagher seems more and more likely to stay at this point. The two main English clubs he was linked with earlier this summer have signed midfielders. Villa signed Barkley & Onana and Spuds signed Archie Gray. Only other PL club I could picture going for him now would be Newcastle. But keeping him would be nonsensical with the midfielders we now have. With Lavia and Chukwameka now hopefully fit PLUS Enzo, Caicedo, and KDH there really isn’t any place for CG.

The only striker target left id actually take. But if PSG are also interested I doubt we have any chance at all.
