As for Adeyemi, he’s unbelievably rapid, is a great dribbler, is lethal when isolated in 1v1 situations, and has great work rate from what I’ve seen. But his end product and decision making are what let him down. That’s the biggest criticism I see of him from people who watch him regularly. His profile looks like a player who would be amazing in a PL team that sits deep and counter attacks constantly. Then you can maximize his insane pace as the other team turns the ball over on your side of the pitch. But we will be a side who dominates the ball and facing those low blocks. Will a player like Adeyemi even be effective in this scenario? I’m very skeptical.

I guess the idea from the club is that with Marescaball where we’ll be playing with 3 in midfield all the times (thus giving us more control of the ball and territory) and also having Reece back & Cucu inverted in there for extra defensive help will paper over the weak goalkeeper? I don’t think the club genuinely feels like Sanchez is going to suddenly turn into Ederson or Allison, surely. At least I hope not. This feels like them wanting to get one last look at him until January to see if he improves considerably in a different system. If he doesn’t then we’ll get someone more suitable in the winter window.

Someone we’ll likely never see in a Chelsea shirt.
-
I still see people on my Twitter timeline posting quotes from Fabrizio saying “one of Cucu or Chilwell could leave.” Why is the idea of Cucu leaving at this point even a discussion? In this system with an inverted fullback Cucu is tailor made for that role. He HAS to stay. Can you even imagine if we sold Cucu and kept Chilwell? When Cucu has finally shown the form that made us spend an absurd amount on him?
-
I honestly can’t picture Gallagher leaving the PL. If he goes it feels like he’d want to stay in this league and play with a chip on his shoulder for us getting rid of him.
-
Chilly can be a good attacking fullback for someone still but he’s always going to be a liability defensively. And he’s always injured. Don’t know how I’d feel about selling him to United though, tbh. Depends on the fee.
-
Caicedo’s quotes really go a long way in confirming why Gallagher was such a Poch favorite. He’s not a great technical player but he runs around a lot. It seems like Poch wanted to win games by basically being more physical and athletic than the opposition rather than being technically or tactically superior.

Comes across as a very serious guy to me. Got some of that Antonio Conte, “take no bullshit” aura about him.
-
He looks incredible lately. I was skeptical when we were first after him but wow. My only concern is that he is really tiny. Which I suppose is expected since he’s only 17. But we’ve witnessed what happens with these small, super skilled players who like to dribble like crazy when Hazard was here. I’m worried that PL defenders are going to hack the shit out of him every match. Need to get him bulked up a bit when he comes to Cobham next summer.
-
Only genuinely good signing would be Neves. But they’re so incompetent with transfers that there’s no way they’re getting all those. Fabrizio has been adamant repeatedly that Benfica won’t budge under any circumstances on Neves’s €120m release clause. They’ll play hardball with him just like they did with Enzo.
-
Don’t get this at all whatsoever now that we’ve bought Guiu. Why would we buy not just one but two super young, super raw strikers?
-
Adeyemi has huge bust potential if he moved to the PL in my opinion. His pace and burst is insane as we’ve seen for Dortmund but his end product has been dreadful most of the time I’ve seen him. Don’t think we need another player like that. A smaller club like West Ham or Brighton taking a risk in a player like him would make sense as he’s got a lot of potential. But whatever wide player we sign needs to be more clinical I think.

The Maresca thing is definitely weird. He was appointed over a month ago and there hasn’t been so much as a picture or quote from him since. It almost feels as if the club have forgotten that they appointed a new guy who the supporters want to hear from. Look at Leicester with Maresca’s replacement. He has already been unveiled and spoken. Liverpool have had Arne Slot speaking numerous times already. I know Maresca only “officially” started on July 1 but even that was a week ago and still nothing. It’s not like I’m dying to hear from him because he’s going to reveal a bunch of super interesting things. I just think it’s strange.

They’re not “bad” signings or bad players. They’re just not signings that make me worry about United. Just because they’re big or well known names doesn’t mean they’re top level signings. This is what United have been doing for years now. Bring in big famous names and then they flop or underwhelm.
-
I’ve seen similar sentiment about him with the Canadian national team. He basically does nothing with his country. But then you watch him at Lille and he looks genuinely good. Not great, but good. So I don’t know what to believe. There’s got to be a reason that in this current era of an extreme striker shortage no big club has ever moved for him. But for £20-30m perhaps he’s worth a punt?
-
De Ligt is as slow as Harry Maguire and flopped at Bayern. Ugarte got benched at PSG and isn’t fancied at all by the manager from what I’ve read. Zirkzee is just as big of a gamble as any of the young players we’re signing. He and Hojlund as their two strikers seems like a recipe for disaster for me. None of the moves they’re trying to make impress me at all.
-
United fans are completely deluded. They’re in a way bigger hole than we have been and have so far been too incompetent to sign anyone. We’re finishing above them again.
-
Calafiori was not going to be a guaranteed starter imo. Seems a lot of people here have just completely written off Colwill and want to replace him already. Or were you thinking he was going to be our starting LB replacing Cucu? Even that was far from guaranteed with the way Cucu has been playing. Fabrizio has given every indication that this kid will the the “versatile left footed defender” that we’ve wanted. Doesn’t seem like he’ll be one for the loan army.
-
I don’t think this kid from Basel is being thought of at all as a pure midfielder who competes with Lavia/Ugo/Santos etc. I think he’s 100% being brought in as a direct fallback option to the role Calafiori would’ve played. Inverted LB/LCB.
-
Also, this kid looks much more DM than fullback. So I guess he is being considered purely for that inverted fullback role where he’s almost always in midfield?
-
Tbf, now watching his highlights he does play a lot like Calafiori so you can see why he was the next one “on the list.” Appears to have all the physical tools to make the massive leap from Basel to Chelsea. But will he have the quality is the question. When it comes to Chelsea signing relatively low profile defenders for low fees I’m going to be optimistic. Those have often turned out to be our best signings. Azpi, Cahill, Malo Gusto, etc
-
I take a quick 2 hour nap, wake up, and we’ve signed some dude I’ve literally never heard of. 🤣🤣🤣
-
One of my favorite players in all of Europe to watch before that injury. Honestly, he looked pretty decent in the limited minutes I saw of him with Italy this summer? Still looked really quick and dangerous when Italy actually passed him the ball.
-
I’m watching too and find it strange that Argentina are playing Enzo in such a super advanced role like this. His skill set feels wasted way up there and he doesn’t really look comfortable.

Yeah, I’m seeing the Estevão goal all over Twitter. He and Paez both look insane for their age. I just pray that they join up into a team that’s coming off of a great season where we’ll have UCL football. Imagine how good the vibes will be with Estevão, Paez, and Anselmino all arriving.
