Don't think he'd flop quite as hard as Torres has, but can't see him being a world beater like an RvP, Agüero, or Suarez. Glad we didn't spunk £50-60 on him. We should be spending a max of £30-40m on a striker.

Was completely indifferent about bringing him in but now that Lamps is injured for a nice chunk of time it makes sense. Not at all convinced about his quality, mind you.

As long as it's not in England (we obviously aren't that daft) then I'm sort of resigned to losing Mata. Absolutely love him and wish there was a way to have him and Oscar in the same team every game, but it's just not going to work with Jose's style. It's really going to hurt at first seeing him tear it up for another club if he's sold and I'm sure there will be times where we'll watch him and regret selling him, but as someone else stated he can be used as an incredible bargaining tool. Dortmund & PSG would be my first calls. Both have excellent players that are nearing the end of their contracts and in positions we desperately need. I'd personally see it as great business if we can sell a player from a position of excess and gain one in a position of dire need.

If Mata is to be sold this month the money has to immediately be reinvested in a top class player. If it's PSG then swap him with one of their top class players in a position we need. Obviously there's absolutely ZERO possibility we can ever sell him to a Prem side unless we got Rooney in exchange. If we just do a straight sale and pocket the cash then it'll be pointless. Then we'd just be thinning our depth out for no reason when we need it the most. How about this sort of "out there" thought: Mata for Özil direct swap. Would suit both sides brilliantly. Özil and Jose are clearly still very close and I feel he certainly would've went for him had he known Madrid were looking to move him. Always got the feeling that Özil kind of settled for Arsenal just to get the hell out of Madrid. Was never his #1 option. Think he'd love playing with Jose again. Will never happen, I know.

I said this a couple weeks back, but Torres looks fucking brilliant at times where he's got the ball in open space. Beats a defender or two and looks well on his way to scoring and it's like his brain shuts off. He either puts in a terrible, lazy cross like he did several times that half or he has a weak shot that goes harmlessly into the keepers arms.
