😒 The most crucial area of a Conte side and well likely enter the season with only 2 in the squad. It's mind boggling.
-
Just seems so dodgy and sketchy. Who can be sure where all the money is actually coming from...
-
How is that allowed? 😂😂😂
-
Balance their books? LOL, there are reports that they're still after Mbappe and Alexis even after the ridiculous Neymar purchase. They don't give a shit about FFP and apparently neither do the authorities.
-
Literally haven't heard a peep about him since his move to PSG. It's like he fell off the map.
-
I'm reading that it'll probably take over £30m for Drinkwater. Just think about that for a minute...😨
-
Just can't imagine them drawing with shit teams 15 times like they did last season. Pogba will be much better.
-
Therein lies the issue with Cahill. He's capable of having solid games and capable of having shockers. He's just a nice, decent CB.
-
Mourinho already made them extremely difficult to beat last season so he's got the defensive solidity he's known for set. With Pogba now more settled, a willing runner like Lukaku up top, the pace of Rasford on one side, and possibly Bale on the other I think they'll actually be able to turn all those draws into wins. City I think may struggle a bit in the big games against the top sides because they have many naive defenders but will blow away everyone else to make up for any points lost against the big boys. Can honestly see them having many results like Real Madrid/Barca/Bayern/PSG have in their leagues when they play the small teams. They'll regularly put 3,4,5 goals past bottom half opposition. We meanwhile depend so damned much on a single player and look average as hell in attack without him.
-
I'd have to agree, sadly. Unless we go crazy before the deadline hits which doesn't look likely.
-
Matt Law has been wrong on just about everything Chelsea related this summer. Sanchez, Sandro, Bonucci... Would be especially annoying if Aurier moves to United instead of here when they already have one RB in Valencia who's better than Moses. To get another when we can't sign anyone would be maddening. I think Mourinho wants to end his transfer window with Bale and Aurier. If that were to happen I'm not sure we'll even compete with either Manchester club for the title.

Worth bringing in for the biblical meltdown from Liverpool fans alone. 😂
-
We'll panic buy Drinkwater and an obscure backup LWB from a third rate league that'll turn into the next Baba Rahman.
-
Think it's been reported that Dortmund wouldn't even accept the 100m Barca are offering. No chance we'd get him.
-
Our CB's were very good yesterday, tbf. Both Luiz and Cahill performed well. It's what's ahead of them and their flanks that were subpar. Do we need VVD? No. But he'd certainly improve our team.
-
The part of his statement where he says "if interest from to clubs still exists" is basically a come and get me plea to Liverpool. I think he'd be a beast there so I really hope he doesn't go to them.
-
New look Everton will give us problems as well. Won't be surprised at all if we lose that. Cesc in the middle with Gaye etc running rings around him will be painful to watch. Cesc's lack of mobility also brings Kante's level down because he's got to do two jobs at once. We should've fucking kept Matic and played him in these first couple of games and sold him on deadline day. We've now weakened ourselves at the start of the season and made it so that United can more easily hit the ground running. And now they'll be after Bale, too.
-
Would it surprise anyone at all if Bale ends up at United whilst we don't even try?
-
Eh, I highly doubt he'll be at Madrid much longer because they always get sick of their toys and want shiny new ones. Only PL clubs will be able to afford him and only ourselves and Man United could both afford him and immedietly have a place for him. If we went in with a massive bid and spoke to Bale to make him feel like he's really wanted and valued I think he'd agree to come here. Make him feel like the main man rather than just another big name at Real Madrid.
-
Honestly, we should take the £60m we supposedly offered for Sandro/Van Dijk + the £40m we just received for Matic and offer Real Madrid £100m for Gareth Bale. In addition to the ~£60m we gave them for Morata we'll have fully funded their move for Mbappe. I think they'd seriously consider that amount. It's more than they paid for him and he's never looked truly comfortable there. We'd get a world class player in his prime and another attacking player at Hazard's level which we desperately need. It would be a true statement of intent signing and would strike fear in all our rivals. It's time we showed the ambition that other elite sides do and take that next step up. Imagine having a wide player on each side of Morata that can both score 15 goals per season as well as wreak havoc with their pace and skill. Our attack would be unstoppable in the PL and amongst the best in Europe.
-
Still think he ends up at Liverpool despite Klopp's words. While I'd love him here, I just can't see a scenario now where Cahill is dropped any time soon.
-
Got mixed reports initially, but apparently he's not banned. Looked like he injured his hamstring in that tackle so he may be out anyways.
-
Don't think there was ever a realistic chance of either of those players coming here. Bonucci would only stay in Italy for family reasons and Dani Alves is one of the biggest mercenaries in football who went for the biggest paycheck (and fair play to him at his age to get 200k+ a week from PSG). What we could've done, though, is made Juve a ridiculous offer before either of those players were gone. Soon as Bonucci left we had zero chance at Sandro. At this point we just need someone at the same level of Alonso for competition and cover. Doubt there's time left to get a significant upgrade.

I'd like to hope our board have long since moved on and are working around the clock on an alternative but I wouldn't hold my breath. Just like with Stones we've probably had the blinders on and focused on only the primary target until it's too late. Watch Baba be brought back into the fold...😒
-
Exactly. Conte will have had a list of at least a few players in each position of need in the boards hands for a couple of months now. Absolutely no excuses for them not to have brought in a couple of wing backs and we should've had a new CM in BEFORE we even sold Matic. We just witnessed PSG within a couple of days spend £200m on a single player even as Barca were saying no. Chelsea, a club which is much bigger than PSG Penny pinches in a summer where we should have more money on hand than ever. If I'm Conte, I tell the board that if 3-4 more signings aren't made by the end of this window I'm walking at the first chance I get next summer.
