I'm not so sure. Sterling was great for them last season and seems like a favorite of Pep's. Mahrez is the better player, yes, but I think Sterling starts as first choice there.

Think City and their fans are quickly starting to realize that top players who are already at decent clubs aren't always going to want to join them just to be role players. A player like Jorginho or Fred who are stars for their current clubs won't just join City to rotate with Fernandinho. They can get players like Mahrez who played for a small club and has never experienced a big club before.

I mean, really, they've had ages to formulate a departure message and for some reason we haven't heard from them.

Glad this is finally resolved, but sad it had to end this way. When I just saw the tweets about him leaving I didn't smile or do a fistpump, I simply shook my head and thought "what could've been." My lasting memory and favorite moment (besides winning the title, obviously) will be him humiliating Mourinho by celebrating madly in front of him and also later saying he had senile dementia. Saw someone make a good point. ADL said himself that Napoli had agreed a deal with City weeks ago. Surely if Jorginho was keen to go there he'd have moved a while ago. The fact he hasn't may suggest that he was waiting to see what happened with Sarri.

Yeah, he's not quite as crispy with his passes as Cesc in his prime, but he's got that same eye for a ball over the top that has made Cesc great. Just thinking back to that dreadfully inadequate midfield 2 of Kante & Bakayoko or Kante & Cesc and now knowing that we may have Jorginho in there instead makes me so excited.

For me, it's more like they really like/want Jorginho but aren't desperate for him since their squad is already so great. He would've been a luxury signing for them like Mahrez is. Just like Fred was going to be before United pinched him.

My guess is that we announce stuff tomorrow as to not steal attention and headlines from England. I know that sounds dumb, but it's something I think our club would do.

Cesc should be kept as a squad player. Perfect against tired legs when small teams who park the doubled decker.

Has real boom or bust potential. If he's at his best and hits the ground running he's one of the best pure #9's about. But at his age and with his physique he's also a significant risk. Even if he's not the Higuain of the last couple of seasons he should still feast against small teams and put away all those 1v1's that Morata fluffs.
