Not only may recruitment take a major hit if Conte stays, but we may also see Hazard asking to leave. Or worse, we keep him without him signing a new contract and face the scenario in which we sell him for a quarter of his worth when his contract runs down. As for recruitment, what top player is going to sign for us knowing one poor run of results could see Conte sacked? It's not like Conte can personally speak to prospective signings and convince them of the "project" he wants to build because everyone in world football will know that he's only still in his job because we'd have failed to get Sarri. I've said before that the only way Conte can surprise everyone and turn things around is if the club back him with about 4-5 top signings. And I cannot see them doing that.

If Conte ends up staying the club obviously won't be giving him his own signings. So we truly may end up with more Drinkwater's, Barkley's, and Zappacosta's this summer.

Would there not have been some movement already if he was told a while ago he was staying? Surely we would've gotten one or two signings in by now. What top players are going to want to sign for essentially a lame duck manager everyone knows the club wanted rid of? Why the hell would our players who have criticized how we played last season want more of the same? There would be a cloud hanging over us from minute 1 and every press conference will be questions about his future and relationship with the club. One poor run of results and Conte will be risking the sack. The only way I can see Conte staying and being successful is if we lock Hazard down for another contract and we go al out in the window and bring in 4-5 top players. The fans can then rally around him and back him like we always have done. But that feels impossible now. He must go or this season is doomed from the start.

Might be a different story behind the scenes, but from the outside where we stand Chelsea are the worst run club in the PL and have been now for a few years. Thank fuck we've had some excellent coaching jobs to mask the incompetence from above. If we don't have a manager in place soon...we are in for another disastrous season. But unlike last season it won't be us finishing 5th but rather midtable.

Morata and Giroud will be our two strikers again this season. We should get used to this fact. Was always a long shot to think the club were going to sell off a £58m signing after one season. Just have to hope Morata improves drastically under a different manager in a new system.

Would surely spell the end for RLC's chances of ever becoming a proper Chelsea player if we signed both Golovin and Kovacic. Both would be long term signings who are in their early 20's. There would be no path back in for Ruben. Tbh, if you offered me the chance to sign both Golovin and Kovacic but it meant Ruben was sold to a club outside of the top 6 I'd do it. A midfield 3 of Kante, Golovin, and Kovacic would be amazing and allow us to play fantastic football. Cesc, Barkley, and Baka for rotation. Think we'd have the best midfield options in the league.

I know I've already said this but it needs to be brought up again as a reminder of how ridiculous our situation is. Arsenal, the most notoriously stubborn, patient, slow acting and slow reacting club out there have signed their new manager (after an extensive search) they've signed their new starting keeper, their new starting CB, solid fullback cover, and are on the verge of signing two more CM's. All of that before we've even done ANYTHING! That's just madness.

No WC matches tomorrow, right? Maybe the club will announce something for maximum exposure and headlines. Ah, who am I kidding. Marina G will probably be leading our returning players out for training at the start of preseason at this point.
